Well, my vacation is wrapping up and I go back to work tomorrow. Went back to West PA to visit family and friends. Good news was by friends wife had cancer surgery and it was successful. The bad news, at least for me, was that my favorite golf course in West PA is closing. Green Meadows in Volant, PA. Pretty area, very nice course, reasonably priced. The owner had been wanting to dump it for a while. Found a buyer in a Solar company. The owner made out big. Solar companies are just grifters sucking off the FedGov. Almost can print out the money. It's just taxpayer loot after all. I would have been happier if some farmers had bought it. That's useful. Oh well, Back to the five sided nut house in Arlington VA. Meh.

hahaha, I dated a girl with one of those. It had a beeper that would go off when you'd hit the redline, and the beeper sounded like someone honking their horn. When I heard it for the first time I went faster, then I heard it again, shifted, floored it, and heard it again and finally figured out what was going on.

I briefly had an 85 GSL-SE, which was the first gen body with the second generation 13B (non turbo) engine. That was a wonderfully fun car.

I'd hate to have to choose between one or the other if I had the opportunity. They were both very different but really great.

Yes, they did leak. There were rain gutters for the sliding roof, but they drained through skinny little hoses that ended inside the rocker panels. Had they fitted the rain gutters with 1/2" drain hoses, and extended them outside the car at the bottom, the leaks would have not been a problem. I have owned several of them. Great cars, for all that.

The RX7 whether it was NA or Turbo Charged, was an exceptionally fun car to drive.

It's 50/50 weight distribution would allow you turn rocket around turns, especially if you cambered your wheels.

I am absolutely not an expert.

My first rifle was a Henry .22 I bought for my then 10yo future Marine.

My first pistol was a S&W .357 magnum revolver.

I still am in possession of both. And learning the difficult double action trigger of the .357 is so very helpful. I'm no fucking expert. But. Revolvers as a first handgun is a win.

During an Obama ammo crunch, more or less to prove a point, I came across a Savage 30/30 bolt action, spruced it up over a couple days and went on ammo patrol. That's funny, I never had much trouble 'resolving' it.
The panel slide rails were rain gutters, and drained into a tube that went down the "B" pillar. Leaves and mud would get packed into the bottom of the tube. You cleaned the tube, trimmed the beat-up end off, and spliced a few extra inches of aquarium tube to give the water someplace to go, and it worked as designed.

Toyota had the same problem with the fastback on the Supra, and it would bubble up a nice rust spot through the trunk lid right where the drainage quit. I just never see experts talking about how Toyota wasn't able to resolve their issues.

Except those drain tubes terminated inside the rocker panels at the front, and inside the rear quarter panel at the rear. Which spaces did have drain slits, that soon got plugged by mud and debris. My solution was to punch a hole in the inner wall of said panels, and use a wire hook to fish the end of the drain hose out. Use compressed air to blow the crud out of the hose, too.

And the third largest city is Cornhusker stadium (whatever it's called) on a Saturday in the fall. My first assignment in the USAF was in Nebraska. Elkhorn, about 30 miles NW of Offutt. I was in the middle of a cornfield (or Soy, depending on what the farmer was growing that year). Have pictures to prove it. It wasn't a missile site. A major HF comms site. Need lots of space for that.

245 Wagonaire used a starter motor, about 1 HP, to run its tailgate window -- because they couldn't afford a cheaper one sourced just for that. You ended up with a window you could pull a stump with. One of the elegant features was a tubular folding step that clipped to the inside of the gate, so that when camp was pitched it was easy to step up to the cargo bed. The fully reclining seats just begged for "car camping," and one of the accessory suppliers had a tent for the rear of the car that you could attach with snaps over the open roof. Today I suppose there would have to be an interlock to make sure no one would run the engine to stay warm.

250 Gas prices have dropped a little around here (seasonal blend change?) and is hovering around $3.20 to $3.30 depending where you are at (AR allows municipal gas tax up to a dime a gallon). I still remember, before the putsch that installed the junta, no ethanol for $2 a gallon.

Naw. Having had several apart, I am calling BS on that. The power tailgate motor was pretty much identical to those used by Ford and Lincoln in the same era. Quite a bulky motor, because it had field coils, not permanent magnets like modern ones. I have a derelict Wagonaire in the yard right now, and on my "to-do" list is to take the power window lift out of the tailgate to save it for for someone who may need it.

Fixed-roof wagons used a different back glass, with no chrome frame.

There is a whole farm of them, starting 2 miles north of my place. By great good fortune, and lack of north-facing windows, I cannot see, or hear, any of them from my home. If I go outside to take a leak at night, I can see the red blinkenlights, no more.

257 254 I saw something on the tube about a town where they are dumping damaged wind turbine blades. Most folks don't realize how big those monsters are, only seeing them from a distance. At present, they can't recycle the blades economically. They look like they would make a nifty border wall. Ship 'em to Ukraine, yeah, that's the ticket.
