Unfortunately, Mike McCaul, a senior Republican, is a weak and foolish man. Here he is repeating that the Egyptians warned the Israelis "something" was brewing in Gaza, no doubt based on information from U.S. intelligence, which is now covering its own ass. Israel denies it. McCaul doesn't have all the information. Nobody does. He hasn't discussed any of this with Israeli intelligence, which is busy now trying to win an existential war. No thorough review has been undertaken let alone completed. Indeed, he has very little information with which to draw hard conclusions. So, why doesn't McCaul wait for a full review at the appropriate time? Shockingly stupid for the chairman of a critical House committee.

These are Border Patrol apprehensions between ports of entry only, this data does not include CBP encounters at ports of entry.
Border Patrol sources tell me they have extreme concerns about who is coming into the country because they have little to no way of vetting people from these special interest countries. I'm told unless they have committed a crime previously in the US, or they are on some sort of federal watchlist, there's no way to know who they are because most of their home countries don't share data/records with the US so there is nothing to match a name to when BP agents run fingerprints.
A special interest alien is a term used by the U.S. government to refer to people coming from countries that have conditions that favor or harbor terrorism, or pose a potential national security to the U.S.

Statistically yes, this is essentially how things work out when you take into account the longer lifespan of women and how the systems tend to be designed. Welfare spending overall is a wealth transfer from men to women.

As men drop out of the workforce and society that gap may begin to narrow though.

Yep. Then it pivoted to law of war---he felt that even wounded Hamas terrorists should be treated.
Most of the military law types argued that Hamas is not a recognized state that is a signatory to the Geneva Conventions and their terrorist army specifically targets civilians. So hamas armed fighters are in effect unlawful combatants that can be summarily executed in the field.

Harry argued that the US does not do that and then some military history types brought up the Pacific WWII campaigns. Japan was not a signatory and like hamas committed grave war crimes targeting civilians throughout their control.

People have not really seen existential war in our lifetimes and simply are not mentally prepared for why Sherman called war hell.

Harry argued that the US does not do that and then some military history types brought up the Pacific WWII campaigns. Japan was not a signatory and like hamas committed grave war crimes targeting civilians throughout their control.

People have not really seen existential war in our lifetimes and simply are not mentally prepared for why Sherman called war hell.

Hamas has been a bit sidelined since Trump got pissed at their refusal to give an inch by dropping the "jews must die" stuff out of their charter and cut them out of deals and aid (i think) going forward. Israel has since gotten close to closing down hostilities with Saudis and a treaty was very close, but Hamas was getting nothing.

A big show to block this, or get a big payout from the West isn't out of the question in my mind.

The IDF already knows that it is. But it's an even bigger trap for Hamas, and they can't get out of it. There are ways to deal with traps, I would suggest studying the US pacification of Fallujah for starters. One key element is to move slowly, completely securing or destroying every structure on a block before moving past it. For that reason any ground invasion is likely to take months.

In a similar vein the "FDR allowed Pearl Harbor" crowd need some explaining of why Navy nut Roosevelt would allow his ships to be sunk wholesale. One of the reasons battleships did not feature in or Navy after PH was that they were all sunk, but at the time both Japan AND the US thought battleships were the main arm of the fleet. The whole idea of the Japanese in sinking our battleships was to keep us out of the war. They were willing to risk all of their carriers being lost in the attack to get that.

Though the Egyptians are almost certainly mixed with Arab blood enough that it makes no real difference except for certain families, perhaps, that can trace their lineage back to before they were conquered.

The Arab genetic impact on that region really isn't that high. They're pretty distinctly Egyptian.

Many of these invasions are not as high genetic impact as supposed, such as with the Anatolian Greeks (who identify as Turkish) or the English.

Now that the IDF is on full alert on all fronts, it's too late for them to jump in. I believe Plan B for Hamas was to get Iran and Hezbollah to save their asses, but those two now are just going to stand on the sidelines and cheerlead while Hamas faces the full might of the IDF.

This could well be, and the slowdown of Syria and Iran's increasing ties to BRICS and trade in Asia might be a reason to cut down on the crazies.

Something I wonder is if Gaza is eliminated as a major issue (either evaced or pacified) I wonder if the lack of this threat makes Israel need US ties less and more open to itself moving in the direction of the Global South.

A bit of the cart before the horse. Relations with Japan were tense over the China war, and they were expanding south towards the Dutch and British colonies by taking the southern part of Indochina. That is when FDR played the sanctions game to slow them down to give time for our build program to produce a dominant Navy. But rather than deter, it induced them to launch their attack at once rather than later and caught us unprepared to boot. It is an interesting what if to think what he might have done if Japan had bypassed the PI and PH. No German declaration, no act of war...could have been an embarrassing situation.

Gaza is small, and there is no strategic rear to retire on. Fortifying the area will keep incursions from happening and barring mass interventions soon troops can be stood down. Separating civilians from fighters is a more difficult problem to solve. The Ukraine war shows that even urban war can be low cost to a side with a surplus of firepower, and I doubt Hamas is as well trained as Ukraine.

You might try reading I Was There by Admiral Layton and Thomas Fleming's summation of the leak of the Rainbow 5 war plan.

FDR intended to get into war which is why he sent scarce B-17 bombers to be destroyed on the runways at Clark. Fleming's conclusion after interviewing some key players like Gen. Wedemeyer and that the FOIA of the FBI investigation actually pointed at Hap Arnold for the leak, that it was FDR doing it himself because the material was leaked to Burton K. Wheeler--a noted opponent of FDR's efforts to get the US into WWII.
