Cat Beef Cafe

utahbyv_outdoors.jpg
Utah, by @v_outdoors

Little mini-GAINZZZ for you: Why bother spending $600 on a treadmill, when you can accomplish the same thing by coating a smooth floor with olive oil? It's such a great idea I'm angry that I didn't think of it first.

Gym idiots -- who's more at fault here?

Deer scores a goal and then celebrates. Calm down, kid. Don't let them know it's your first time.

Antarctic snow-bats in a fashion parade.

"But the monkey started it!" -- C. Kramer, author of Amazing Bear Attacks

A bird visits the local Home Depooch.

The Master of the House will take his breakfast now.

Cats hearing a can open.

Supposedly this shows a ghost, but I think it's probably just CGI.

So lifelike!

Cats having all kinds of beef:

43 Back in about 1952 my sister (older) and I created a skating rink in the bathroom. Concrete slab floor (Jinja in darkest Africa). Pail. Water, lots of water. Bar of kitchen soap. Great fun until the pail of water tipped over. Then the water flowed under the door and into the living room which floor my Mum had wax-polished by hand on her knees, just a few hours earlier before going shopping. Man were we in trouble. Good thing Mum did not swear or I would have learnt a few new ones.

Got a storm rolling in from Ohio. Expecting to rain all night here in Amish country. Going to golf in damp conditions tomorrow, probably in a bit of rain too. My favorite golf course is closing at the end of the month. I'm sad about that but it wasn't unexpected. They owner had been trying to sell it for years. He sold it to a Solar Company and they are going to put in huge solar panels. The course owner probably made out like a bandit. Guarantee the Solar Company used tax payer money to purchase the land. It's all a fucking grift. Would have preferred the land be sold to farmers that grow something useful, but no, sold it to grifters. It was a lovely golf course surrounded by farmland and woods. Damn shame.

Pretty hilly here, and any moisture on the ground/grass results in wheelspin. Common lawn tractor tires(including 'crossbar' tires) just not up to the job. Right now I'm using a pair of agressive ATV tires, that work pretty well.

Since the differential is an open differential, if one side slips, then I'm stuck. I've been pondering adding L/R right rear brakes to help that. I have obtained a pair of bicycle disc brake rotors to that end. Fabricating the axle mounts is another matter.

----

"So forget about politics. I don't care, I didn't vote for him," Steele told Bill Maher on his "Club Ransom" podcast Sunday, admitting she thinks Biden is "a terrible president."

"However, that made me sad," she said of his apparent confusion.

"The human aspect of what we're witnessing right now, to me, is heartbreaking," she said of the now-80-year-old president facing escalating pressure over his age and a series of gaffes as he runs to stay in office

Thank you, Doctor Professor Jill PhD. Thank you for letting us all witness this. Our wealth is gone, our security is gone, our economy is in shambles, our energy base has vanished, and with it our manufacturing advantage, but at least we've been able to watch this (I suspect very slight) downward movement from his bleeding eye days of the 2020 campaign.

185 "change it up with Scotch"

The Scotch ritual is as bad as wine: Pour a Dram, wait one minute for each year on the bottle(it does have an age statement doesn't it ?), add a few drops of water, wait a bit more, finally - sip.

I'd argue that's part of the smaller faster whatever circle.

It's a great achievement, but it's similar to the black guy adding a lantern to a locomotive and people wanting to celebrate him in February. Yeah, it was a good addition, but that train is going the same places and doing the same thing it's been doing.

Not to minimize the achievement, though. It's awesome.

Now that I think about it, the "connected" part is likely crucial to the lantern being added to that particular train.

246 Wow, I'm really glad we had this conversation. I just went to look for the name of the black guy who put a lantern on the locomotive, and I came across an article about lawn jockeys.

They're racist as heck, aren't they?

Except for the part where they were a black man holding a lantern, and they were used to mark safe houses for runaway slaves.

Even better, the symbol has significance for the founding of the U.S.:

"Abolitionist would set the statues out to signify the home was a safe stop on the Underground Railroad.

A ribbon was left hanging on the statue, if a green ribbon was hanging it indicated safety...

Tom Graves was a young black man, who wanted to fight in the war, but Washington didn’t allow it because he was too young. However, he did ask the young Graves to hold a lantern for the troops. Young Jocko died in that night in the snow and ice; he froze to death."
