Mobs of "Teens" Loot a Washington, DC CVS, Literally Picking Its Shelves Clean

as if devoured by locusts.

A sticky-fingered mob of shoplifting teens has almost entirely cleaned out a Washington, DC-area CVS outlet -- leaving the retailer's shelves almost bare.
Startling images from inside the chain pharmacy in DC's Columbia Heights neighborhood show row after row of empty shelves, thanks to about 45 youngsters who have been targeting the store, Fox affiliate WTTG-TV reported.

"Youngsters." Whatever euphemisms we can think of to make hardened thieves appear to be innocent scamps.

"When you walk into this CVS, you'd think the store is closing because there's barely anything on the shelves," WTTG reporter Sierra Fox said.

Spoiler:is closing. CVS will close 900 locations by the end of 2024.

What are the odds that the Columbia Heights, DC store will remain open?

Or that any stores in DC will remain open?

How long do these idiots think that people are going to continue spending good money so that human-shaped locusts can steal them blind?

There will be no shops left in Washington DC, and then they'll start whining about "food deserts" and "CVS deserts."

"In fact, the only items in stock are the ones that are locked up. I did ask an employee what gets stolen the most, and they just laughed and said, 'Everything,'" she added.
According to store employees, the rowdy mob of minors routinely raid the store for chips, drinks and other items -- and claim street vendors also pay the teens to pocket items for the store that they later sell at a profit on the sidewalk.

"It makes me not want to shop there, to be honest," customer Ilana Miller told the outlet.
"I just go in there and get my prescription and then when I need other things, I go elsewhere because there's nothing there to get," she said.

Now comes the thievery-defenders to tell us all that we could cut down on looting if we just proactively gave the looters the shit they would otherwise steal:

"I'm not saying stealing has to be the solution to that," he added. "However, I don't know, maybe if the city could provide more accessible resources to unhoused or under-income folks who can provide them hair care, bodily care, hygiene care -- that could be an option."

And then some people just won't be allowed into stores anymore, and they will cry racism.

You walk up to the window from the outside, type in your desired items into the kiosk screen, pay with your card, and then pick up the goods from the other side of the building when you receive a text that they are ready. If you don't pick them up in 30 minutes, the goods are returned to the main inventory control system.

All of this is completely autonomous. That's your new shopping experience.

83 I wonder if you could open a store in DC old west style... where everything is "behind the counter" and you go in and make your order, pay for it, and the clerks fill it. You never get to touch the merchandise until after you pay.

Yeah, you'll have to higher a few more clerks to do all the running back and forth. But shoplifting, looting, etc. goes to zero. Especially if you add in lexan and bulletproof glass and the like to protect the clerks. Gang comes in? Just drop the little window and watch the gunfight; then after it's over dump the bodies out the door and resume selling.

Horrible way to run a business, but hey, you'd likely be the only game in town.

Those managers were all nice young gents who knew right from wrong and this corporate decision demoralized them. It also gave them no reason to be loyal to the company so they soon looked for elsewhere for employment. CVS probably did them a favor, but the company shot itself in the foot.

Places that seemed invincible 10 years ago are now slums. I'm really glad I didn't invest in commercial properties back when I was doing that kind of thing. There's a guy on YT who shoots videos of the ghost towns of CA, and it's kind of amazing at how bad things have gotten.

Seventeen State Liquor stores were broken into and looted this week, resulting in the entire Philly liquor store system being closed for a couple of days. A bunch of other high end stores including Apple were looted.

We may not be as bad, but we're catching up really fast. But Philly voted 80% for Biden and Fettermonster so... don't care.

Get your state representative and state senator to change the laws. Allow the use of force, including up to deadly force to stop shoplifters, burglars, robbers, carjackers and any other thieves.

Yes it will be bloody. Stacks of dead men, women, and lots of teens. Most of them will be POC.

But the carnage will stop the crime in about a year. It will be a very bloody year, with plenty of riots looting and arson over the first dozen bodies.

Sometimes you need to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
