98 For everyone based in reality, illegals are the reason kids can't find jobs at restaurants and Americans can't work in many good construction jobs any longer. People in the South have been watching this since the mid-80s. It's no different than it's ever been, it's just happening faster now.

Yep. Entry-level and manual labor jobs are just as much of a national resource as oil and wheat. And our benevolent politburo has sold out all of it.

----------------

This is what is unforgivable, all our politicians are not affected nor are their children so they don't see a problem. In effect this is a class system and it didn't bother people too much as most people used to move out of entry level jobs. The current illegal immigration invasion is the rulers deciding to move them into the entry level jobs and our own people moved into a class below them to be unemployable who can die from drugs also carried across the non-existent border.

Shards beneath our feet
But it wasn't my fault
And everyone's competing for a love they won't receive
'Cause what this palace wants is release

We live in cities you'll never see on-screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know we're on each other's team...

On the toob the usual GOPe suspects are all shouting that Gaetz and 7 others sided with the dems to oust McCarthy. This is a misdirection that the left uses all of the time. The minority party always votes against the majority speaker nominee. It is baked into the cake. The speaker has to sell himself to his party members. McCarthy couldn't.

Today I voted for the Motion to Vacate and remove the Speaker.
This isn’t about left vs right.
This isn’t about ideology.
This is about trust and keeping your word.
This is about making Congress do its job.

I promised the Lowcountry I would be an independent voice in Congress. That I would call the balls and strikes and do the right thing regardless of party.

The Speaker has not lived up to his word on how the House would operate.

No budget, no separate spending bills until it was too late, a CR which takes spending power out of the hands of the people and puts all the power into the hands of a select few. There has also been no action on many issues we care about and were promised.

We were promised we would move on women’s issues and legislation to keep our communities safe. Those things never happened.

I came here to take difficult votes and do the right thing, regardless of the pressure and regardless of the threats (bc there’s been plenty of both). Today I’m voting against 95 percent of my party in the hopes of fixing how Congress operates.

With the current Speaker, this chaos will continue. We need a fresh start so we can get back to the people’s business free of these distractions.

I’ll work with anyone willing to do that and look forward to voting for a Speaker who shares this vision for changing Congress and getting us back on a path to delivering results for the people.

168 LOL! McCarthy thought after passing a "clean" funding bill that the Democrats would have his back! ROFLMAO!!!
As Bugs Bunny would say: "What a gulla-bull. What a nin-cow-poop. What an im-bess-ill. What an ultra-maroon."

Why McCarthy decided to take on his right flank and prevent the shutdown
https://tinyurl.com/yz9jstjp
For House Democrats, it took a little bit of time Saturday – along with the pulling of a fire alarm in a House office building – but they ultimately chose to join Republicans to pass the stopgap funding measure.
That doesn’t mean, of course, that they intend to help McCarthy keep his job as speaker. House Democratic leaders said in a statement Saturday evening they expect McCarthy to allow for a vote on a bill on supporting Ukraine.
But McCarthy’s allies are confident that an overwhelming number of House Republicans support the speaker and that Democrats won’t help Gaetz throw the House into chaos – especially after McCarthy helped avert a shutdown, part of the speaker’s calculation in making such a move.

Fifty-five Chinese sailors are feared dead after their nuclear submarine apparently got caught in a trap intended to ensnare British sub-surface vessels in the Yellow Sea.

According to a secret UK report the seamen died following a catastrophic failure of the submarine’s oxygen systems which poisoned the crew.

The captain of the Chinese PLA Navy submarine ‘093-417’ is understood to be among the deceased, as were 21 other officers.

Hey Firing Bad Generals is on brand for the GOP, well Lincoln at least.

Exactly. What do you suppose the odds are that they will find that magical person in the next few days when they haven't been able to find them in the current House roster yet?

I don't assume nothing has changed. I'm sure there are many in the House who are now revisiting and revising their attitude towards their constituents.

Well he didn't just not keep promises, he mad secret backdoor deals with the Donks, that the Donks didn't even have the good graces to keep to themselves, they even went out and mocked the Conservatives in the house, telling them, YOU WILL GET NOTHING.

McCarthy had to go and hopefully will not be re-elected.

363 I found out recently that Russia has an age limit for its high ranking officials. 70 years of age. extended from 65 in '21. Of course windows do put severe limitations of said politicians surviving that long in office.

I think that has something to do with Gorbachev being the first Premiere for the USSR who was born after the revolution.

I suppose that depends on who they believe their constituents are. Gaetz got 7 Republicans to vote with him.

I have no love for McCarthy, he'll be making millions on K Street soon. But I have real doubts that more than a couple are having a come to Chuy moment right now.

They have 220 chuckle heads to select a leader from, if they can't find one honest person of integrity and purpose, then f**k it, burn the entire f**king place down, it's of no use and isn't a solution to what ails us, and I don't give a sh*t.

Nah, I'd still rather an R in a CA seat than whatever absolute insanity a CA D would bring...

Of course, I doubt he runs when he might have a cush job lined up soon, but we'll see...

375 180 ok here is the plan :

1) Trump = speaker ( I mean, who will not want to see that ?)
2) Can't run for President , too busy , too old, blah blah
3) Withdraws from presidential race
4) DeSantis !
Posted by: runner at October 03, 2023 08:57 PM (V13WU)

Trump being Speaker would have DC and their mouthpieces melt down in the worst way.

Dems never have any traitors in their own ranks so of course they would use one from the other side and then have fun humiliating him. They know there will be another one along soon.

379 Someone posted a picture of Ryan, Cantor and McCarthy in their younger days with the caption “Young Guns”.

Considering all that has happened over the past decades, I’d almost say they were CIA operatives.
