BREAKING: Leftist journalist who downplayed violent crime gunned down in his Philly
Josh Kruger, a leftist journalist and activist who was based in Philadelphia, was shot and killed inside his home on Monday. Kruger had a long history of downplaying violent crime in the city, often openly mocking those who expressed concerns about homicides in Philadelphia.
"Look, it's that lawless land of liberals in Philly where shootings are...dropping to levels not seen in years," read a past post by Kruger.

The 39-year-old Kruger was shot seven times at a residence in the 2300 block of Watkins Street around 1:30 am Monday, reports 6 ABC.

He was a "community activist," too, reportedly a "strong advocate" for the (shock) "LGBTQ Community."

I don't want to prejudge the obvious situation but I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that a member of LGBTQ Community turned out to be a "strong advocate" for ventilating his guts.

There are at least two very scary moments in that film where something is coming toward you, the viewer, and you don't want it coming any closer. This is in contrast to so many horror films, where the "jump scare" is the only trick they have in their director's bag.

That was a pretty good Tom Clancy novel. Simple plot, badass protagonist, and very clear-cut division between good and evil, as I recall, though it's been quite a while since I've read it.

Like Grisham, I have seen the movies far more than read the books, and after all these years, it gets a bit confusing. Some books became good movies, and some sucked.

And some like Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger are good in both mediums.

Clancy's best stuff was his early work. Later on, I began to suspect he was being paid by the word. His novels became monstrous things hopelessly bogged down with insane levels of technobabble completely unconnected with the plot.

I was horribly bored by The Hunt For Red October, especially after the film, and never tried any of his other stuff. He was a big admirer of SF writer Larry Niven, a writer who rarely wastes words. Imagine what Clancy could have achieved in a collaboration with him.

Her role has been speculated on for decades, but there were many witnesses who claimed she was seen WITH Sirhan (and/or a Sirhan lookalike) in the building. That she might have guided him to where he needed to be.

Now, the only way to assume Sirhan is innocent is to believe CIA got to him, brainwashed him for weeks leading up to the event. It would have to mean he was essentially missing for weeks.

His 11/22/63 is grand stuff. No idea how the TV movie worked, or didn't, but the novel is an epic time travel story that never flags and puts you right into that odd world of 1958-1963.

The novel has a callback to It, a portion that takes place in his peculiar town of Derry, and that even works.

The novel has a callback to It, a portion that takes place in his peculiar town of Derry, and that even works.

Time travel with two catches. You could only step thorugh into a particular day in 1958. And you could come back to your own time whenever you wanted -- but then it was a reset. Anything you'd done in the past, saved someone's life, is wiped clean and you have to do it all over again.
