Breaking: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Reportedly About to Announce Run as an Independent Third-Party Candidate

The Democrat Party is treating him badly so he's donezo.

The rudest and most obnoxious partisans should keep this sort of thing in mind. You're not helping "the cause" if people decide they hate your guts and prefer the party to lose so that you will lose too.

He may run as a Libertarian, which would be final confirmation that the Libertarian Party is just a party of social libertarians.

Robert F Kennedy Jr, who launched his campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination in April, reportedly has plans to announce a run as an independent candidate.

According to Mediaite, Kennedy plans to make the announcement on October 9 in Philadelphia, with a text message viewed by the outlet stating that his campaign is planning "attack ads" against the Democrat National Committee to "pave the way" for his announcement.

"Bobby feels that the DNC is changing the rules to exclude his candidacy so an independent run is the only way to go," a Kennedy campaign insider told the outlet.

On Saturday, the New York Times published a piece stating that Kennedy met with Libertarian Party chair Angela McArdle in July, at a Memphis conference.

"He emphasized that he was committed to running as a Democrat but said that he considered himself very libertarian," McArdle said, adding that "We're aligned on a lot of issues," including the threat of the "deep state."

"My perspective is that we are going to stay in touch in case he does decide to run," Ms. McArdle said. "And he can contact me at any time if that's the case."

Update: A friend tells me he draws more of his support from Republicans than Democrats, so this isn't actually good news.

Thanks to JackStraw.

29 "He may run as a Libertarian, which would be final confirmation that the Libertarian Party is just a party of social libertarians."

Which it's not. For anyone paying attention, the party itself held its own revolution last year, kicking to the curb all the ninnies who were running things for decades, on their social liberal sensibilities, at the expense of libertarian principles.

As for RFK, I don't think the party will have him. Because, in the end, he's a Big Government guy. Even if he agrees with them on diagnosing what's wrong with DC, his solutions are 180 degrees opposite of theirs.

31 Say what you will about RFKjr, but he puts forward a nationally appealing platform.

Like DJT.

And that's why he can't be the DEM party candidate. And why DJT can't be the GOP candidate.

The Dems and GOP are totally against nationally appealing platforms.

That's why they collude completely and willingly to rig the elections.

Not because they want to win. But so that a nationally appealing platform isn't enacted.

What you are talking about is in the same class as "BushHitler" or "PutinHitler" or "TrumpHitler"

I don't like him as a candidate, I don't like a lot of his positions, but he had done more than spend family money.

When Ace is right, he's right.

And Trump's popularity by location is his bigger problem. Running up Alabama 90-10 still only gets you X electoral votes and the same house and senate folks. Dems found that out running up DC by the same. You need to move the needle in purple states 5 points to get wave elections for house and senate. Trump moves that needle...the wrong way. And it's non recoverable. He may be at his most popular in Wyoming and Mississippi, but that's a "who cares" popularity b/c it can't win a 270 path.

And to be specific, no, the party is not for open borders. The old leadership was all Dreamy With the Dreamers, but that's because they weren't really libertarians.

New leadership perspective is what it SHOULD be: property rights trump all other considerations here. People streaming across the border are violating property rights, and imposing financial burden on people who didn't ask for it.

The libertarian position is, if you want to come across the border, someone here on this side MUST have agreed to take you in. Otherwise, get the F out.

245 And Trump's popularity by location is his bigger problem. Running up Alabama 90-10 still only gets you X electoral votes and the same house and senate folks. 247 As we have already diagnosed here, Ron aborted his campaign when he hired Bushie/GOPe midwives.

It's a huge shame because he had to thread a very tight needle, attacking Trump from the right WITHOUT attacking his supporters to have a chance.

Instead he went all middle/reasonable choice. The same, sad, tired, useless playbook Profesional Republicans have been rolling out since the forward pass was legalized.
It doesn't work. It's never worked. And it only appeals to people who don't vote Republican.

He should have entered the race to push the party to the right, not reclaim the middle

If Ron does win the nomination cause Trump is dead then Ron will find out he's not if Florida anymore and the idea he will get reasonable federal abortion legislation is a joke. It is not going to happen.

Obviously, the gun controllers are losing their minds over this decision, and so it was well-anticipated that the California AG, Bonta, would appeal the ruling to the 9th Circuit.
Instead of following normal 9th Circuit procedure and have the matter proceed to a 3-judge appellate court, however--where the mag ban had PREVIOUSLY been found unconstitutional, only to be reversed by an en banc panel of the 9th--the 9th circuit has decided today (Sept. 2, to by-pass normal procedure and go straight to en banc.

Trump's voter base is more working class. R candidates don't compete for Michigan and Wisconsin. Trump can because his voter distribution is a bit more evenly spread.

R candidates tend to have a less concentrated voter distribution than Ds to begin with, but Trump's is even more spread.

311 I only read the first 125 or so comments, but while I wouldn't worry that he'd take too many Republican votes, and guess that he would take Democrat ones, any potential concern would be for the otherwise Trump votes that would have come from disaffected Democrats / Independents. In other words, historically Democrat-leaning folks that might vote for Trump as an f-u vote to the Dems, but now would have an alternative on the Left.

The reason we have a primary is to determine who has the most support from the base. You might not like Trump but the vast majority of the base apparently does. No candidate has a shot unless they can consolidate the support of the base first.

As much as it takes. They have likely found new and different ways to rig the vote.
But they only have to really do this in a handful of "swing" states to pave the road to 270 Electoral votes.
The Democrats already have "locked" up a bunch of states with big electoral counts (this is old hat, but again):
New York, Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont (ok, little), Massachusetts, Rhode Island (real little), probably Maine and now New Hampshire.
Probably forgetting some, but throw in New Mexico, probably Nevada, Hawaii, and then (drum roll!) the Swing States
Michigan (probably already cheated up!), Wisconsin, Pennsylvania (100% voting in the hood in Philly!!), Arizona and Georgia...
And that friends, is the news from the future, November 2024.

Stevenson says that in 1982, Joe Biden’s brother Frank approached him and gave him an ultimatum – sign over his house to Jill Biden or there would be “serious problems.” Tax problems with IRS followed after only 8 days.

376
Nixon oozed competence and leadership?

On what planet?

The one where he wasn't famous for saying, "I'm not a crook."?

Compared to Humphrey and McGovern? Damned straight, even with his horrible flaws.

377 and even with Wallace being more right than left he took votes away from the Dems.

Wallace was shot down in Prince George county, MD. Just across the Potomac. PG used to be a white working class neighborhood.

380 This is a silly Democrat talking point to whip up fear among their Republican cattle.

whatever RFK pulls from Rs will be more than made up for by blue collar dems who loves them some Trump.

also the traditional black/brown dem vote is seeing some significant movement toward DJT

381 Yes, America is fucked. Welcome to the realization.

Dang yeah, nothin's any good. Everything sux. My grandkids roll their eyes when I tell them at Thanksgiving what they're allowed to choose for their occupations, and I'm sure the spiders are sleeping with my wife. Oops, pooped um.

He didn't have to convene them, that's what George said he was going to do.

Also, fuck the popular vote. There's no such thing in a US Presidential Election. Thank God, and thank the Founders.

384 377 At the end of my second hitch in The Corps, I applied and was accepted for the PG County PD. My ex wife's Uncle (Capitol PD cop) and cousin (DC Metro Cop) talked me out of it. "This whole county will be a shithole in 15 years, and you'll be stuck here". That was 1976.

386 I doubt very seriuosly that a DEMOCRAT running third party is going to get more Republican votes than Democrat votes. Good lord.

387 Worst president in my lifetime and that’s all he can do against Joe Biden.

It’s obvious he’s going to lose again, but I guess we need to go through the motions again.

Every election since 2016 has been Trump losing it for Republicans.

388 And Trump’s presidency was mostly Covid, and he completely mishandled everything during that era

Most of our inflation and deficit issues are because of what he signed as president

Dear Retard, Trump was president for FOUR years. Covid didn't happen until year four. I don't know what kind of idiotic thrill you get out of being a dipshit troll, but go the fuck away

Reagan could never beat incumbent Carter. Never. I suspect that's where Ace is right now.

Then tens of millions of 'Reagan Democrats' came out of the woodwork and down off the sturdy shelves and voted for prosperity and not the numbing stagflation of Carter's era.

391 no Ace, I do not think more republicans than democrats would vote for RFK, Jr......... libertarians, maybe some.... independents, some.... democrats, some..... republicans? the Never-Trump crowd wouldn't like a liberal populist anymore than a conservative populist......

392 I hope the Democrats are up all night worrying

Posted by: Tamaa the Drongo Bird at September 29, 2023 07:16 PM (wGqjj)

393 Trump could easily nip any hazard of nonshitlib voters bailing to RFKJ by disavowing and apologizing for operation warp speed and the vax mandates and such. He has shown himself to be entirely too trusting of deepstate advisors and needs to show somehow he has learned that lesson.

396 Didn't have time to read all the comments yet BUT...I'm extremely skeptical about the comment that RFK Jr. will draw more votes from Republicans than Democrats!
....Kennedy is a total leftist for his entire life, any Republican who would vote for him apparently prefers leftist politics. Meaning that if Kennedy didn't run, that voter would like vote for biden or whoever the Dems nominate *anyway*.
....So no loss for our side if he runs. But here's my prediction: he *may* announce that he's considering it, and may even go thru the motions. But around convention time he'll withdraw, because his top priority is to not be exiled from the Dem Party.
....He lives on approval, and being exiled would be fatal.

397 In the clearest demonstration of effed-up reasoning (actually classic Democrat/liberal "reasoning") evah, Dem shill Equate bleated
...."Trump will lose, everyone here will blame it on fraud. But everyone will know Trump once again shit the bed. **If Trump really believed there'd be massive fraud, he wouldn’t be running again.**
....
Classic propaganda: "If he really believed my Party would cheat (again) and win, he wouldn't even run!!"
....
Classic! "We cheat and win, and if you recognize that, you wouldn't even bother to nominate a candidate, since you'd know you couldn't win!"
....In other words, we win by intimidating you via the 2020 steal! Faaaaabulous Democrat "logic"!
