On Saturday, the New York Times published a piece stating that Kennedy met with Libertarian Party chair Angela McArdle in July, at a Memphis conference. "He emphasized that he was committed to running as a Democrat but said that he considered himself very libertarian," McArdle said, adding that "We're aligned on a lot of issues," including the threat of the "deep state." "My perspective is that we are going to stay in touch in case he does decide to run," Ms. McArdle said. And Trump's popularity by location is his bigger problem. Running up Alabama 90-10 still only gets you X electoral votes and the same house and senate folks. Dems found that out running up DC by the same. You need to move the needle in purple states 5 points to get wave elections for house and senate. Trump moves that needle...the wrong way. And it's non recoverable. He may be at his most popular in Wyoming and Mississippi, but that's a "who cares" popularity b/c it can't win a 270 path.

Instead of following normal 9th Circuit procedure and have the matter proceed to a 3-judge appellate court, however--where the mag ban had PREVIOUSLY been found unconstitutional, only to be reversed by an en banc panel of the 9th--the 9th circuit has decided today (Sept. 2
, to by-pass normal procedure and go straight to en banc.
Interestingly, there were several dissents to this order taking the matter en banc, and THEY WERE ON FIRE!!!

No, the purple land is now the SE Coast from VA to GA - NC is another purple state. You've got to have that whole coast from VA down to FL to win in 2024. OH and FL, the original purples, are deep red. But VA, NC, and GA have become purple. All these states are winnable for Rs, and thus have to be won by Rs, b/c NE and Midwest states have gone for fraud.

Trump's voter base is more working class. R candidates don't compete for Michigan and Wisconsin. Trump can because his voter distribution is a bit more evenly spread.
R candidates tend to have a less concentrated voter distribution than Ds to begin with, but Trump's is even more spread.

Of course it matters. I've seen a lot of people including our current troll say they will never vote for Trump yet you assume someone who is only polling in the low teens is going to have every other Republican run to support them if they are the nominee. That's absurd.
The reason we have a primary is to determine who has the most support from the base. You might not like Trump but the vast majority of the base apparently does. No candidate has a shot unless they can consolidate the support of the base first.
And if you think Kemp won't allow cheating if Ron is the nominee then why would I want Ron?

As much as it takes. They have likely found new and different ways to rig the vote.
But they only have to really do this in a handful of "swing" states to pave the road to 270 Electoral votes.
The Democrats already have "locked" up a bunch of states with big electoral counts (this is old hat, but again):
New York, Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont (ok, little), Massachusetts, Rhode Island (real little), probably Maine and now New Hampshire.
Probably forgetting some, but throw in New Mexico, probably Nevada, Hawaii, and then (drum roll!) the Swing States
Michigan (probably already cheated up!), Wisconsin, Pennsylvania (100% voting in the hood in Philly!!), Arizona and Georgia...
And that friends, is the news from the future, November 2024.

It's a huge shame because he had to thread a very tight needle, attacking Trump from the right WITHOUT attacking his supporters to have a chance.
Instead he went all middle/reasonable choice. The same, sad, tired, useless playbook Profesional Republicans have been rolling out since the forward pass was legalized.
It doesn't work. It's never worked. And it only appeals to people who don't vote Republican.
He should have entered the race to push the party to the right, not reclaim the middle
