Yummy, thick French Toast with yummy maple syrup. And a Mystery Click to boot. Happy Saturday morning.

Before we get into today's Prayer Revival, let us go over a few items. (Rulz)

1) Open thread. Opine, bloviate and/or lurk away. Talk about choice.
2) Be kind to one another.
3) If you are going to run with sharp objects we shall all say, "I told you so!"
4) Have a fun weekend.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

8/19 – Coelacanth asks for continued prayers. There are problems with his son Cam. Cam has been concealing many things for many years and has been lying to his family. His mother is heartbroken.
8/24 Update – Cam is still suffering with his significant health issues, and his mental state is unstable. He is making decisions based on feelings, and guided by bad advice, will not consider his parents’ cautions.
9/9 Update – Coelacanth and his wife have had the “adult” conversation with Cam, since he had been misusing the money they’d sent. They did pay off his student loans, per their original promise, and Cam called to thank them. He still has a lot of medical problems, and so much has been taken away in the last 6 months – he went from an Olympic class athlete to needing a cane to keep his balance. Prayers are still needed.

8/26 – Tecumseh Tea requested prayers for herself and her husband. They are going through a difficult time in their marriage. They are committed and will see it through, but asks for prayers that God will heal their marriage and help them each see what needs to change.
9/9 Update – Thank you for the prayers and please keep them coming. They are felt, and God is at work in us. They have been through difficulties the last 3.5 years and stopped dealing with things in their marriage. They are dealing with them now and relying on God’s strength and grace.

8/26 – Jewells45 posted that she could use prayers. Her last round of chemo was tough on her.
9/9 Update – The CT scan found another spot on her upper left lung that is about 6 mm. The rest of the nodes showed no change, and a few very small ones in both lower lungs. The doctor was concerned enough to order a PET scan, which was then scheduled for 11/29!
9/15 Update – It’s been another bad week after chemo treatment.

8/26 – Dash my Lace Wings asked for continued prayers. Her husband is still sober but needs to develop some interests to keep his mind and body busy – something that will give him joy and purpose in life.

8/26 – Farmer Bob provided an update. Mrs. Bob came for a weeklong visit, but she only stayed a day. She said reconciliation was too much work, and that she was feeling too free and unburdened without him and the kids, and so she left without saying goodbye to the girls. She has been posting party pictures to Facebook that the girls are seeing, which is hurting them. And she has served Farmer Bob with divorce papers. On the bright side, he has lost 115 pounds, started flight school, and most importantly, is closer to God and his girls than ever.

8/26 – Fox2! requested prayers for an old friend, T, who lost her husband unexpectedly. She is not amused by all the contradictory information and direction she is getting from her husband’s employer, insurance, and soon to begin adventures with the local probate court. And then she had to put her horse down. Prayers are greatly appreciated.

8/26 –Don Draper said his mother is expected to pass this week. Prayers, good wishes and thoughts are again requested, this time for her soul to have a safe journey. Thanks to all who gave prayers before.

8/27 – ghbucky asked for prayers for his oldest brother’s wife (both in their 80s and very dear to him) has been hospitalized and intubated due to pneumonia, likely due to covid. This means she cannot have visitors and his brother is under quarantine. She is very feeble and has been dealing with circulatory issues. Ghbucky fears the worst.

8/28 – Fenelon Spoke is concerned for a friend of a friend named Mike (age 39) who had major gastric surgery. He is now on breathing apparatus because he wasn’t doing well. The nurses are on strike, so the patients are not getting the care they need. Prayers are appreciated.

8/29 – Swodog asked for prayers as the hurricane was headed toward his house. The family is all safely inland, but their home may be washed away.

8/29 – Mpfs requested prayers for healing of his tooth, which turned out to be a fistula, and very painful. Oral surgery is scheduled.

8/30 – Debby Doberman Schultz asked for prayers. Her husband passed away on 8/30, with her sitting beside him, holding his hand. The kids had been in and out, but the end it was like the beginning - just the two of them. As painful as it was, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is so gratified that he is relieved of his suffering.

9/2 – Oddbob’s granddaughter was released from the hospital. Since then, she has had only one seizure so it seems like the meds and keto diet are working. The docs say she might grow out of it in a few years but of course can’t promise anything. If not, she and her parents are in for a lifelong process of monitoring, controlling, and coping. He thanks everyone for their prayers and concern.

9/2 – Skip shared his concerns about his aunt and uncle, who are moving to a retirement community soon. His uncle is not doing well, mentally or physically. Skip hopes for more peace for them.

9/8 – Inogame requested prayers for his wife and their next daughter, due in March. Please help pray for health. His wife is struggling with morning sickness, but otherwise both are healthy. He also sends thanks for the Horde’s prayers of support, both now and when they had miscarriages in the past.

9/9 – Jewells asked for prayers for her brother-in-law and his wife. The brother-in-law has been diagnosed with dementia. He is diabetic and cannot give himself his injections, and he refuses to let his wife help him. He also refuses to stay home, even getting into the car with strangers to get away. Please pray for strength and wisdom for her, and for him to accept the changes that have to happen.

9/9 – NaughtyPine asked for prayers for one of her brothers. He’d been in the hospital for a week after a breakdown. This is the strong brother, the one who takes care of everyone else and never asks for anything.

9/9 – San Franpsycho sent some updates: Paul, who we have been praying for as he deals with cancer, was admitted to the hospital last week for an ulcer. The NG tube was removed, and he will be able to eat soon. The other update is that Mrs. F. is feeling better in the ER, after 2 fluid IVs.

9/9 – RedMindBlueState requested prayers. His brother-in-law’s mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and is not doing well. Prayers also for the family at this difficult time.

9/14 – creeper asked for prayers for a man who has destroyed his back after years of hard physical labor. He can’t have any more back surgery, so he is having an electronic nerve stimulator put in. Prayers that it would work would be appreciated.
9/16 Update – creeper sends thanks to all who prayed. The temporary stimulator was implanted and it does seem to help. If all goes well, they will install the permanent one.

9/14 – FenelonSpoke requested prayers for Jessie, their church organist. She hasn’t been able to play at church for a while, but she is back in the hospital. Prayers are appreciated!

9/16 – Rhennigantx asked for prayers as he experiences Afib. He is now facing drugs or maybe the ablation treatment.

9/16 – LMD asked for prayers for a sister who is in the final throes of hospice. Please pray that she will pass on so that her suffering will stop. Prayers are much appreciated.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Thank you Annie for your efforts.

1 Decaf is the mind killer.

Decaf is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will caffeinate my blood.

I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Where the caffeine has gone there will be nothing.

Only I will remain.

Prayers up for those that know they need them but have not asked us for them;
Prayers up for those that need them but don’t know it yet; and
Prayers up for those who pray alone, asking in silence, and whose prayers are known but to God!

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Rev 21: 3-5a

I don't approve becuz:

1) It ruins/overwhelms the delicious flavor of maple syrup

2) It's a Ford of Uselessness and Stupid Expense.

If you want vanilla in your French Toast a ,little splash of vanilla extract in the egg dip will take care of that.

Other naturalfake approved add ins:

splash o' brandy, cognac, liqueur of your choice(Cointreau is nice)
grated orange and/or lemon peel - don't over do it!
spices such as cinnamon
a combination of the above

162 FIL is better (had to put vascular catheter and start emergency dialysis on him). FIL thought it was a better idea to be out of the country for an extra month than do the fistula surgery he needed.
Wife also suffered from being with him helping him with things; she ended up with a new tumor where she didn't have one before. And due to that month out (plus Hilary coming to town, plus having low white blood cell counts), she also missed about FIVE treatments, so all her tumor markers went way up. Hope she starts listening to me about her treatments.

The Beatles definitely transformed music, but I identify way more with Led Zeppelin. The Beatles were always a group you HAD to like. I look at Springsteen the same way. I saw him/his band live, and it wasn't good at all. They were more like a garage band, playing what they liked and very rehearsed.

For my wife lumpectomy was out; they initially saw 7 tumors. When they did the post-mastectomy exam of the breast, found an 8th. Needed to remove several lymph nodes to boot, thought they caught it all, but didn't. Make sure she gets regular checks afterwards to make sure it hasn't slipped beyond. Hope for the best. Prayers.

Well, it's been known for a long time that a significant percentage of 'Art Sales' are money laundering pure and simple. It's a convenient way to place a large amount of liquid assets into a transferable document for an agreed-upon value. A lot of 'Art' is a lot like the old $1,000 bill they don't print anymore.

Do any of you 29-year-olds recall having all-school assemblies in high school for which everyone was asked to assemble in the gym and then some poor schlub from outside the school delivered a program of some sort?

Well, I do.

Some schlub did a lot of whistling for one of them.

During another, some chick brought in really large speakers ("oh, here we go ...") and played recordings, among them some by Chicago.

The thing is, for none of these assemblies can I recall any point to have been made or taught. Why do them at all?

Yes, I AM a purist, it comes from ancestors having planted Maple "Sugar Bush" on the family farm, mostly lining the roads and pasture paths, so it could be tapped and gathered with sleighs, sleds and sledges. Trees now ancient, gnarled and enormous, they would take two TALL adults to reach around...yet still producing. They even planted several around the one room schoolhouse they built for the community, that provided shade in the summer, and a little income that helped fund the school
