After another hour, the drums stop. The native stops dead in his tracks and looks up and says "Drums stop! Very bad! Run away!!"

83 Post from Reddit. These people are broken.

Hi there!!! I've been second guessing myself for a couple weeks now and decided to hopefully get other opinions on this. So... I 36(f) and husband 39(m) have 2 kids 16(NB) and 12(f). My husband's family and his whole extended family and going to DisneyWorld again, they have done this twice already. We all went the first time and the kids went with his family without us the second time. Earlier this year they started planning another trip and with everything going on in Florida politically and my child being non binary and very flamboyant about their sexuality I said Hell No! We talked with the kids about everything and they seemed totally in board and understood. My in-laws would ask here and there if I'd change my mind but I stayed firm with the support of the kids. Now flashforward a couple more months and my sister-in-law was very drunk and brought it up again stating my youngest told her kids she wants to go but doesn't want to cause conflict or just have her go…

It goes on. You get the drift. All the comments are “yes absolutely, do not let them go to DeSantis’s fascist state where trans kids are hunted down”.

OK, but you have to account for the fact that the homemade burger has about 3 times the vegetable matter on it (lots of fresh tomato, lettuce, onion, etc) than the fast food one. That is the stuff that develops mold. If you make a burger, cook it well, put only cheese and pickles on it, and put it in open air, I bet it looks a lot like the fast food burger after 30 days.

Peas in chili. A conundrum that the Horde has not yet pondered.
------------
My second-generation Canadian, Great-Depression-raised, Irish mom's "goulash" was her chili recipe with the kidney beans swapped out for peas, for us four boys and dad from the '60s to the 2000s. I don't know if a family recipe or from Good Housekeeping or similar from the '50s or '60s. She served it with buttered toast.

Ground beef simmered in tomato juice with spices including paprika as well as chili powder as far as I know, and then the beans or peas added. Maybe paprika for the 'goulash' and chili powder, oddly enough, for the chili??

No, they aren't. The homemade one has stacks of vegetable matter. The McDonald's one has a few shreds of lettuce, and possibly a tomato under the bun (you can't really see), and usually about three pickle slices. In that video, you can't see what's happening under the bun. Could be moldy under there, who knows? But the homemade burger is about an inch higher to start with with fresh veggies on it.

Our President is a senile crook whose corruption on behalf of his crackhead son is putting us into a nearly inevitable war with a nuclear power, at the very moment the strutting dictator we've propped up is in our capital demanding MOAR GRAFT from our exhausted treasury.

People are struggling to pay for their groceries, the auto workers are on strike, our chief rival is menacing our regional allies in the Pacific, our military is suffering one self-inflicted catastrophe after another, and our cities are crumbling in front of us.

The American system is struggling to breathe under the crushing weight of its protracted litany of excess, while our Senate's key "opposition" figure vapor locks on a daily basis.

But its key majority figure is concerned with the truly important things - gnashing his teeth and beating his breast about the loss of decorum posed by the illiterate, hulking meatbeast he crammed through the door of his own chamber through fraud.

This country is such an embarrassment.

Peas = soup, no peas = stew

I don't know if that's how the fancy-pants epiquestrian folks with their chicken-leg hats talk about it, but that's what I was always taught.

Stews are generally thicker, too (I often cheat the roux and use Kitchen Bouquet and a bit of flour). But I always liked the "no peas" approach. Keeps things simple.

I bet goulash can be either.

It's also called slumgullion.

I won't ruin the other definitions of that word, but it's worth going to have a look.

I find myself disliking going into cities more and more as I get older, but I still like that they exist. If you can figure out when, where, and how to visit areas that might not get your family murdered there can be some very interesting non-murder experiences there.

T minus 5 hours to Equinox. You have 5 hours of summer left. Make the most of it.

209 A friend told me one of the most "city" things I've heard of a week or so ago. The parking lots use QR codes and they direct you to a payment site where you enter the parking space you parked in, and you pay $X for however long.

Criminals are putting professionally-produced QR code stickers over the real QR code to redirect you to their website and steal your money and credit card info.

Very clever.

The town south of which we live has no Whataburger, and we haven't been to Wal-Mart since they gave BLM a wad of money.

Used to be about five or seven miles to town. In the last few years, good pasture land a half mile away has sprouted fat-cat houses. We're practically suburban.

We go a few miles north, and there's the local grocery with the corn-free gas station, the Aldi thing, Braums has good burgers and produce, all in one intersection. We count it lucky to gas up, do the shopping, and buzz back home, only barely getting into the south end of town.
