Head Over Heels Cafe

orcasbreaching.jpg

This is lovely.

Detached tires chase a poor dog who just thought they looked like a nice place to pee!

Imma just gonna grab a little snack for the road.

Abandoned, ruined mall in Bangkok.

Rat to cat: "You shall not pass!"

Animals escaping predators. Don't worry, they all get away. And check out the choice Purr-kour from the cats.

Mechanical horse shows a horse's running gait in slow motion.

Sidewalk surfer.

These gorillas look sketchy.

How do cheetahs vocalize? The answer may surprise you! And: Number One will blow your mind!

Duck spa for capybara.

Clever girl...

Cat comes running and sliding at the sound of kibble.

Shadowboxer.

Rabbit duel.

Panda is just hanging on for Friday.

The Maestro.

Ahoy!

The Lookout.

Seal pup flaps his way in for a nuzzle.

The shot rides the rim for a while, and then falls away from the basket.

This husky just saw The Thing and now he's quoting the huskies taken over by The Thing.

DEVELOPING: Chemical Explosion At Union Pacific Railyard In Nebraska Prompts Evacuations Due Heavy Toxic Smoke
https://tinyurl.com/5n8k64ub

According to Union Pacific Railroad, at approximately noon on Thursday, an explosion transpired inside a container, resulting in the ignition of multiple railcars. Union Pacific stated that there was no derailment, and the railcar had been stationary in the yard for a few hours.

Union Pacific also reported that the container that caught fire contained a hazardous substance known as perchloric acid.

In response to the toxic smoke, the North Platte Fire Department is conducting evacuations within a four-mile radius of the explosion. Individuals located between Front Road and Splinter Road, extending from Highway 30 to one mile north, are urged to evacuate the vicinity. Additionally, Buffalo Bill State Historical Park and State Recreation Area in North Platte have been closed until further notice due to the presence of toxic smoke in the area.

Weiss, will be unable to cite a single analogous law from the founding period, because none exist. 4. Hunter will win a motion for summary judgement because there are no facts in dispute. Case dismissed. But don't any of you nasty right wing peasants try this, or the DOJ will fight you until you are bankrupt, and you die of old age in prison. And yes Bruen will get all 3 laws vanished for Hunter but set zero precedent for anyone else, that is how JustUs works in 2023. Just watch this happen, you'll see I'm right.

88 I once saved a rat from one of my killer cats.
I pulled it out of the cat’s mouth and as I proceeded to set it loose a few feet away, I watched as it sank its teeth into the fold of my hand.

I asked it if that’s all it’s got and it kinda looked at me as “Yes bro…that’s all I got”.

I set it loose and cleaned the bite with some peroxide.

Rats are vermin. Found half a rat in my backyard a few days ago; I think a cat ate the top half and left the rest when it was scared off by something.

ALERT - US casino operators Caesars and MGM hit by cyberattacks
READ: rb.gy/w9r6h
||US casino giant Caesars Entertainment said Thursday that hackers acquired data from some loyalty program members — days after fellow entertainment firm MGM Resorts revealed it was grappling with a cybersecurity issue.

After detecting suspicious activity in its network, Caesars determined this month that an “unauthorized actor” acquired a copy of its loyalty program database among other data, it said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The database includes driver’s license numbers and Social Security numbers for “a significant number” of members, the company added. [...]

MGM said in a separate statement on Tuesday that after detecting the problem, it launched an investigation and notified law enforcement.

It added that it is taking steps to safeguard systems and data, “including shutting down certain systems.”||

154 We have a Tesla and it does everything we bought it to do and it's fast as hell, but what makes it livable on road trips is the charging infrastructure Tesla has troweled across the landscape. There's not a thousand miles in most directions (ok, US50 thru Nevada...) you can't count on a functioning available charger. Not something you can say about any other charge network.

Which is why Ford and GM have given up...they're putting in Tesla charging plugs. SAE J3400, now NACS. Now Tesla gets to charge everyone else's EVs, in both senses of the word.

In general Li-ion battery shit is great for anything that needs to be mobile or portable and not too challenging. I can't remember the last time I dug out my corded Sawzall but for the table saw, nein danke.

160 I'm glad I got to work in automotive sales in the early 'aughts. and 'teens. Mostly Ford, but also some GM, a couple years of Honda and Toyota, too.

Ford was *serious* about quality and value then, and they had Toyota in their sights for the J.D. Power Quality Awards.

I'd say Peak Ford must've been about the 2010s. Before they chose to abandon cars, and before the Aluminum trucks. Their entire downhill slide has been in response to ever (impossibly) increasing DOT and EPA MPG standards and other requirements.

The entire automotive industry should've told the Feds to Back The Fuck Off in the 1980s, when the future MPG demands were even then, by the laws of physics and thermodynamics, becoming quite impossible.

And now, every Manufacturer who opts to go all- electric, signs their industrial Death Warrant.

165 This was a key background battle in the EV world. There were three major firms fighting it out to be the de facto charger plug design.Worth billions to the winner.

A little more complex than that. Back in the day when everybody was charging 110v SAE established the J1772 standard. Pretty useless for a car of any real battery capacity but it was what they could do at the time. You can charge it Tesla or something else on J1772 level 2 but it will take you a day to get any useful charge. Then came CCS. A 1772 plug with an extra pair of direct DC high current contacts. It's clumsy it's bulky it's much harder to use than the Tesla connectors. Europe has mandated CCS and it's typical of direct DC in most of the world.

The Japanese were pushing ChaDeMo. It was a high current direct DC standard but it's effectively dead now.

Why the Tesla connector is so much simpler is that it does not have separate direct DC high current pins. The large pins on the plug can handle either level two AC or direct DC and the car negotiates that with the EVSE before it charges.

166 They make seat covers out of wet suit material.
Not quite sure what that has to do with anything.
But it's kinda neat. I guess.

Concur. Good stuff, keeps the stains from bodily fluids and other like materials from being used as evidence and stays cool all year round.

ALERT🚨 Two “nonhuman beings” were shown off during a bizarre hearing of Mexico’s Congress. The bodies are believed to be a muddle of human and animal bones, held together with glue and fake skin. - WIRED

It’s amazing they could fly a spacecraft from their planet -without real skin!

They were stranded here because their advanced culture had transformed into all electric power and their battery ran out after the factory range estimate was overstated

Someone is putting highly corrosive acid in food?

I'm not sure what it is used for in foodstuffs but phosphoric acid, corrosive, is used all the time, for example, soft drinks.

171 " because of the toxic smoke generated when one of the chemicals aboard caught fire "

That's like saying oxygen caught fire. No, perchloric acid supports combustion as it is oxygen rich, HClO4.
Perchlorates are used in matches and fireworks for that reason.

He should save time and money and re-broadcast his anti-MAGA rant in front of Independence Hall last September. The one with the blood red illumination of the building and two Marines in dress uniform in the background. Because it will be the same insane rant, condemning half the citizenry as MAGA white supremacist anti-Democracy rayciss anti-tranny insurrectionists.

When the going gets tough for Joe, he retreats to his comfort zone. His ranting, raving, ultra-partisan, "I've never made a mistake/I have nothing to apologize for," inner self.
