Borderline-Developmentally-Delayed Representative Alexandria Donkey-Chompers: Inflation Isn't Real. It's Just Propaganda.

The NY Post interviewed her constituents -- who believe inflation is very real, and are finally beginning to realize that Donkey-Chompers may be "crazy."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might want her followers to believe inflation is "propaganda" -- but her constituents aren't buying it.

The firebrand Democratic congresswoman used her Instagram stories to share a video from New Zealand's left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League in which an activist claimed the "propaganda" surrounding inflation was designed to protect "greedy shareholders," who are truly to blame for the rising cost of living.

But when The Post visited Ocasio-Cortez's constituents in the 14th district, which comprises areas in both Queens and in the southeastern part of the Bronx, all of them reported economic pain and many said the Biden administration should not be left off the hook.

...

Latisha Law, 41, a certified nursing assistant, single mother of three, and grandmother, paused outside Key Food in the Castle Hill area of the Bronx to say she was struggling financially since the pandemic.

Inflation is real -- and the fault lies as much with the government as big corporations, Law told The Post.

"Is AOC crazy?" Law said. "Has she been to a grocery store recently? $1,000 ain't nothing no more. $100 ain't nothing no more. Maybe she should spend some time in the projects and really help people."

Law, like the majority of Bronx and Queens residents interviewed by The Post, did not really know much about Ocasio-Cortez.

Most asked who she was and could not really seem to identify her but all agreed that they are paying almost twice as much for the same amount of groceries and other essentials.

A number reported getting into serious credit card debt because of their struggle to pay bills.

"I'm working two jobs just to survive," Law told the Post. "I kill myself just to feed my family. It's much worse now than it was before the pandemic."

...

Jean Torres, 72, a retired schoolteacher and Bronx resident of Puerto Rican descent, said that inflation is so bad that some of her children have to pay for some essentials by putting them on credit cards.

"AOC does not represent true Hispanic beliefs or values," Torres told The Post. "Puerto Ricans have traditional family values which she does not represent.

This is why the Latino vote is veering away from her and other Democrats and going for Trump.

"And for her to act as if inflation being something other than the government's fault? Well since I don't have someone to pay for my $30,000 dress for a gala like she did, it's much easier for me to see the truth."

Here's the video shared by ADC making the claim that inflation is all fake and just made up by greedy corporatists.

Here's a description of the video, if you don't want to watch (and you probably shouldn't bother):

aotearoaliberationleague

A new report called "Profit-led Inflation in Aotearoa New Zealand" proves what we've all been seeing with our own eyes: the biggest driver of inflation is corporate profits. Don't let capitalists gaslight you. Trust your instincts - you don't have to be an expert to see we're getting screwed over.

Donkey-Chompers has to claim this, because she and other leftwing extremists have championed the government simply printing as much money as possible and then handing it out to people, so that everyone is instantly a "millionaire." They push the idea of "Luxury Socialism," where everyone is millionaire just because the government says so.

When it is objected that such a startling increase in the supply of fake paper money would demolish the value of that fake paper money and send us into a hyperinflationary spiral, like Germany saw between the wars, these leftwing extremists scoff and claim, as ADC does here, that inflation isn't real, and to the extent it's real it's not that bad, and to the extent it's bad it's just a creation of Greedy Corporatists and Wreckers. Because these Corporatists, Wreckers, and Economic Subversives will always thwart the left's genius plans for Luxury Socialism, we will of course have to round them all up and concentrate them into camps.

And after that -- enjoy your millions, newly-wealthy peasants!

It's another slow news day. I'm going to be posting stuff as main posts that would usually just be stuck in a Quick Hits.

I'm hoping that there's a break in the Hunter Biden case, which will then spur Jack Smith to announce additional charges against Trump.

A capitalists weren't greedy under Trump because they feared his tyrannical rule. They do not fear Biden because they have bought him.

The only solution is this: If you are a leftist who wants to destroy capitalists, you must vote for Trump.

23 The latest talking point from the Modern Monetary Theorists, who claim that inflation is fake news, is that there is no actual inflation -- just greedy corporations raising prices so that they can get richer.

Which like... sure. Obviously some of the price increases are because companies said "well, people were willing to pay more during supply chain interruptions and whatever in covid, so let's keep the price level there" but you don't need to be a genius to figure out that inflation is across the board, and driven by a devalued dollar.

But MMT says "just raise taxes on everyone in order to take money out of the supply, and boom -- no more inflation."

Which may seem counter intuitive, because, well, it is a stupid idea.

Keynes never advocated for limitless government spending. He said that an injection of government spending in a recession will reverse it. That's not necessarily right, but it's a far cry from, "We can never cut a dime of government spending because the economy will collapse without it," which has been the Democrat messaging on federal spending for...ever?

Whatever new messaging Democrats (and establishment Republicans) use to justify massive government spending is just that: justification. There's virtually never any tie to what they're doing and what the theory says.

I think that MMT might be the one exception, though.

95 Ace, Just read an interesting article on the Passport Bros. phenomena. That's where men are going overseas to find women with more traditional values to marry, and who aren't social media obsessed, one way relationship tyrants that think a man is unequal and someone to be abused. Apparently a lot of these women are upset, because they were told men had no choice but to put up with their neurotic feminist psychosis and would have to submit. They're also trying to say the women are ignorant and uneducated. Meaning not steeped in the same relationship cursing authoritarianism they are. Oh and many of the women the Bros meet are mostly polyglots and have decent traditional educations. Well, I can see why they're upset. They're being replaced.

Just do a web search on the term "Passport Bros". It's really entertaining.

Donald Trump, an experienced architect and builder of skyscrapers, said that there was no way a plane took down the twin towers.

He was so sure, Trump stated clearly after the attacks that there had to be bombs- specifically in the foundation of the building, in order for it to collapse the way it did.

His statements sparked outrage.

It’s time for Trump to speak up about this again. The September 11th attacks fundamentally changed our country forever.

Americans deserve to know the truth about what happened that day.

101 Keynes never advocated for limitless government spending. He said that an injection of government spending in a recession will reverse it. That's not necessarily right, but it's a far cry from, "We can never cut a dime of government spending because the economy will collapse without it," which has been the Democrat messaging on federal spending for...ever?

I think that MMT might be the one exception, though.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, searching for more with John Huston at September 11, 2023 01:29 PM (LvTSG)

Not really. Same as with Keynesianism, MMT means whatever politicians want it to mean to justify their behavior.

But the actual theory says that since money is fake and gay, we shouldn't think about it as a real thing. If prices go up, reduce money supply (through higher taxes), otherwise, the government should slowly increase the money supply by strategically injecting money in to sectors / people in an attempt to create a better economy.

Now, maybe in a world where government is competent, and everyone is smart and rational, and we're ruled by a benevolent dictatorship that kind of government intervention could work. Maybe.

But unfortunately, here on earth -- no chance.

My understanding though is that the passport thing sometimes fails because when you bring wifey back she's exposed to the same feminist crap that American women are.

160 95 Ace, Just read an interesting article on the Passport Bros.

__________

The Passport Bros phenomenon is an expansion of what many immigrants in the West -- and particularly in America -- have been doing for decades. In these immigrants' case, they travel back to their home county to find a bride. This happens a lot with Chinese, Indian, and African immigrants. Can you blame them? They were on to something.

And Astoria and Woodside are a mix of young'ish white people who work in the city, old Greek and Irish people who are dying off, and Muslims.

So NY-14 is basically hispanics (many of whom are illegals), Asians, and Muslims and some young white people in Astoria and Woodside who rent apartments and commute.

And every candidate is at least as bad as aoc.

In fact, local family subshops are now about the same in pricing so...the only value fast food gives is that it is faster.
-----
It's not even faster than a subs shop. It can take 10-15 minutes to get through Wendy's drive-through, because they are understaffed half the time. I agree about the prices, I rarely get anything other than a Biggie Bag. It rarely takes half as long at the local Burger King, and with 2 for 5$ Junior Whoppers going right now I get more bang for the buck.

The Archie Bunkers are all dead. The people who have been in the US for about 20 minutes and make up the big part of the voter base in the boroughs know two things:

Privatization of Profits, Socialization of Risk. Big Guys getting rich off their 10% graft. BigCorps getting rich by sending labor to slave holding countries, that pollute like crazy. That off shoring temporarily restrains inflation as we get cheap China crap ... UNTIL they break the USD.

Then we Americans all become poorer as BigGov continues to print to infinity, even as there are too few to buy our bonds. (but for now USD is still seen as a safe harbor ... they WILL get their money back, but in inflated dollars.)

I think I gave up on it as an animating part of my political identity with the defeat of Romney/Ryan in 2012.

Ryan represented extremely modest fiscal responsibility. Not really what we needed, but something that could have been a first step.

America rejected it. So, America doesn't want it. America needs to feel real pain before austerity becomes politically palatable.

We think about big corporations as like "Big Oil" and "Big Pharma" and "Big Whatever," when really it's all just "Big Finance / Big Government" and the lines are very blurry between government and the companies.

332 Keynes's early romantic and sexual relationships were exclusively with men. Keynes had been in relationships while at Eton and Cambridge; significant among these early partners were Dilly Knox and Daniel Macmillan. Keynes was open about his affairs, and from 1901 to 1915 kept separate diaries in which he tabulated his many sexual encounters. Keynes's relationship and later close friendship with Macmillan was to be fortunate, as Macmillan's company first published his tract Economic Consequences of the Peace.

Attitudes in the Bloomsbury Group, in which Keynes was avidly involved, were relaxed about homosexuality. Keynes, together with writer Lytton Strachey, had reshaped the Victorian attitudes of the Cambridge Apostles: "since [their] time, homosexual relations among the members were for a time common", wrote Bertrand Russell. The artist Duncan Grant has been described as "the supreme male love of Keynes's life", and their sexual relationship lasted from 1908 to 1915. Keynes was also involved with Lytton Strachey, though they were, for the most part, love rivals rather than lovers. You may now continue.

No, no one wants it.

It would require:
1) cutting spending massively
2) cutting compliance costs for businesses massively
3) raising taxes
and
4) massively reducing bloat and corruption.

And only doing one or two of those things would arguably make the problem worse, not better. There is no constituency for that.

Going back to your Paul Ryan example -- I vividly recall the collective gasp and recoil of the Boomers when it was even suggested that entitlements like Social Security and Medicare should be cut back.

Republican-voting Boomers, specifically.

"I paid in to that my whole life! You can't take my social security away from me!!!!"

Well, okay, then. You know who else has paid in to it his whole life? Me. And everyone else. Same with everything else.

But that's the attitude -- "cut shit for the other guy, but I want mine!" Which is perfectly understandable. But when everyone feels that way ... no cuts happening.

Like in professional wrestling -- sometimes you get to be fan favorite Hulk Hogan, other times you get to be the heel, Hollywood Hogan.

at the end of the day, all that matters is that you put on a good show, get your paycheck, and you're all friends back stage when the cameras are off.

---
Because maybe voluntary membership makes it better?

Because it was formed from the Articles of Confederation, which gave out the right of secession which the 10th Amendment says is still reserved to the states as it had not been explicitly denied them.

In general, it's a better union that does not lie about its foundational documents and did not try to swindle the anti-federalists that they had gotten on board.

455 Just so we can get this straignt, inflation is because of corporate greed.

Corporations have always had the ability to raise inflation aka make more money whenever they wanted. No other factor other than profit is involved.

Corporations often choose to do this only during Democrat administrations. Recently they did not do this during the Trump administration, choosing to make less money during Trump's years in the white house.

This make sense AOC?

There is no constituency for cutting a dime of spending.

Everyone loves spending cuts in the abstract; no one will actually agree to any cuts. No one will cut any one else's spending because they will, in turn, cut theirs.

The worst part of these are the conservatives who attack other Republicans, "he won't/didn't cut spending!"

I went through the same exercise. At some point the early SS money equals the max SS money. One thing that is immutable is can't make up the additional years of owning your time 100%. I approached the issue from a cash flow perspective - how do I get my living expenses to match my monthly cash flow? I did that buy moving to a place that was highly affordable and highly enjoyable to live which I did and was able to end up owning a home that I could pay off tomorrow. I am fortunate I have enough investments that I can supplement my monthly cash flow expenses as needed - I am not wealthy but I live pretty well.
