55 Fucking Michigan.

Watching my County Board meeting from this morning.

Bad news/good news.

Bad news:
Michigan implemented a Right to Early Voting freaking law. Minimum 9 days of "early voting".
County is trying to implement it, and decided on establishing 4 centers.
There is also same day registering, which is bullshit, and has been around since 2018. You register by going to the township clerk.

Good news:
The State law allows these early voting centers to do same day registration if they opt to. Fortunately, our county decided NOT to do this, making people go to their township clerk.

The state of Florida never provided medically necessary gender-affirming care to Duane Owen — causing her enormous suffering and violating her right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment for the more than 30 years she was in state custody.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know:
Duane stabbed 14-year-old Karen Slattery 18 times, killing her, then raped her corpse. He committed murder again years later.

In legal papers she drafted, Owen wrote that she "should be accorded the 'essence of human dignity' and be allowed to become 'who she was meant to be'" before her death.

No one should be killed by the state. The time to end the racist, unfair and cruel death penalty is now.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know:
In 1984 Owen murdered and raped both a 14 year old girl and a 38 year old mother.

Owen's lawyers argued insanity.
Psychiatrists for the state testified Owen faked schizophrenia and had no signs of gender dysphoria. His records indicate he exhibits sexual sadism.

I have been investing in the stock market since the mid 80's, the way I look at stocks is as hold of value of money that will make steady but continuous gains.

So I have stayed mostly to blue chips and dividend stocks.

Once you've set up a base of value you then gamble a little, sometimes the gamble pays off spectacularly, sometimes you get it in the shorts.

Hopefully you don't take it in the shorts too often.

I love pears! Wish I had pear trees. Tractor Supply has some--I may get a couple. I think I have one more spot in my yard that could take a couple of trees.

I planned on canning spaghetti/pizza sauce from my San Marzano tomatoes this evening, but it's still cooking down. Takes forever. I guess that's tomorrow's job now.

Use your crock-pot, let it cook over night with the lid a bit off.
If you want a decent sized batch, you can use your electric counter-top roaster instead. Both will simmer without getting hot enough to scorch the sauce.
About half way through womp it up with the stick blender or run it through the blender and then add your basil and other spices.

Yeah, it hit 82 in S.F. today. Toooo hot for my taste, but: 1) we are going into our Summer; and 2) 82 beats 92 and worse.

Posted by: SFGoth at September 05, 2023 09:45 PM (KAi1n)

74°F here today. Cloudy, but nice.

270 Yeah, it hit 82 in S.F. today with a chance of needles and human feces.

272 Seems like it hasn't rained here in years.

273 NorCal weather is nice. LA, kinda overrated IMO. Lots of rain in winter, kinda hot in summer. Often times muggy.

You misspelled robbery.

My philosophy is that if you heard it, it missed you, so have another drink.

277 As an aside, I am seeing more and more angry bums yelling at nothing. Our office is downtown, and it's getting kinda hinky.

My wife's office is close to a river, and the cops have to roust the bums weekly.

It's looking like the '30s, but with cell phones and wi-fi access.

280 SoFla is ideal weather. I know sounds crazy. But, you put up with 3 months of shitty summer weather in exchange for an awesome 9 months. Same with Phoenix.

285 I grew up in WI urban world. In the 70s until I finally ejected circa 2000. Year by year, everything got worse. Less jobs, more crime, just constant decay. The weather was always awful. During the summer (half of June, July, August and some of September with summer defined as "good chance it would be at least 60 and no overnight freeze") if it didn't rain on the weekend the 10 pm local news would lead with film of people in parks. It was a news event when that happened. Yet nobody left. They just moved farther out. Unless you were upper 10-15% the game consisted of buying, watching, and selling before the value dropped too much. When I announced I was gonna go I was met with " oh, you'll never do that, nobody does". Its just the culture up there.

286 I'm making $90 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning 16,000 US dollars a month by working on the connection, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply. Everybody must try this job now by just using this website... www.Salary49.com
