The Morning Report — 8/31/23

kukluxkona.jpg

Good morning, kids. Florida, as well as Georgia and South Carolina got rocked by Hurricane Idalia. There are reports of massive flooding, power outages as well as sadly at least two known deaths. Certainly, any kind of natural disaster of this magnitude is destructive to one degree or another, and it's par for the course for those who live in these areas. That's not to minimize the destruction and certainly not the deaths. But things like this should not be used for political advantage. That is "not letting a crisis go to waste." Of course the jackals of the Left and their media-propaganda accomplices do exactly that, like clockwork.

I'm tempted to say, kudos to Governor DeSantis and his team, as well as the other states affected, for their efforts in mitigating as much damage, pain and suffering as they could before and after the fact. But I shouldn't have to say that, should I? It's what they were elected to do in the first place. Yet, given what we have witnessed these past 32 months between Afghanistan, East Palestine and Maui, the contrast between individuals who are competent and responsible and anyone and everyone within training-bra-snapping distance of Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants' filthy, gnarled digits is like night and day.

Of course, Afghanistan was malice aforethought while the reactions to the other two were ideologically-driven recklessness and even plain old sheer incompetence after the fact that turned situations into total debacles. While the government's response to East Palestine showed an almost callous indifference mostly because of bigotry against so-called "flyover country," not to mention that the foot-dragging and ineptitude was payback for the region voting overwhelmingly for Trump in 2020, the first point echoes something under the surface that is today's blood-boiler:

When Christopher Kunzelman’s wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he asked her where she wanted to spend the last days of her life.

She chose Maui.

Kunzelman came from Scottsboro, Arizona, bought a house and prepared to move his family in, but he soon learned that he did not belong there. Locals warned him “this is a Hawaiian village. The only thing coming from the outside is the electricity,” and “you don’t even belong in Hawaii.”

While he was moving in the furniture, two men showed up. They told him, “You seem like a nice guy, but you’re the wrong color for this place.” When he didn’t get the message, one of the men told him, “your skin is the wrong f****** color.” and hit him on the back of the head with a shovel.

The Polynesian islanders beat him with the shovel, punched him, and kicked him in the ribs while he lay unconscious. They told him, “No white man is ever going to live here.”

Kunzelman regained consciousness and made his escape while the two men were discussing how to kill him and his uncle. But when he made it to the hospital, the police refused to do anything even though he had severe injuries and had recorded part of the incident on video.

Meanwhile one of the attackers went out and assaulted another white man.

The Maui attackers had told Kunzelman, “We’re the law, we’re the police, the police have our backs, we’re the ones who make the laws, we’re the ones who enforce the laws, we’re the judge in Kahakuloa, and we’re the ones who decide if you live or die.”

And it seemed they were right. The Kunzelmans were never able to sell the house because it wasn’t safe to live there. . .

. . . Had the races in the Maui assault been reversed, we would have all heard about it. Not only did we not hear about it, but local leftist activists and the media rallied in support of the attackers.

An Associated Press article claimed that two racist thugs beating a man and planning to kill him reflects “Hawaii’s nuanced and complicated relationship with race.”

That’s not how attacks on black people moving into white neighborhoods were described. . .

. . . Much of Hawaii operates by third world rules that subvert American norms. Corrupt cronyism is ubiquitous. Rules, including safety regulations, are only honored in the breach. And resentment toward mainlanders, while not universal, is enough of a factor that the perpetrators of the Kunzelman assault could not only expect to get away with it, but they nearly did.

What role did all of those factors play in the record wildfire deaths? The answer is some. It will be very hard to separate disdain from malice, an obsession with maintaining a racial power struggle even during a crisis, a disregard for outsiders that under normal circumstances might be merely inconvenient but in this case proved fatal, and line up a specific body count.

But what happened is what leftists in America call “systemic racism”.

The system in Hawaii, while often headed by Americans, is handicapped by a significant presence of ‘indigenous’ activists who may be merely neglectful or actively hostile. And there’s little question that some people of all races died because of the systemic racism of a setup that treated outsiders as despised interlopers and used informal, rather than formal, systems.

That is the story of the Maui wildfires that no one will tell. It’s the background behind the tragedy.

This reminds me in a way of the conflicts caused by gentrification of poorer, predominantly non-white areas of the inner city by younger, mostly white professionals moving in. The word "interlopers" instantly brings to mind Al Sharpton, whose use of that word coupled with the word "white" in front of it that created death and mayhem in NYC on at least two separate occasions. And it happens to be the anniversary of the Crown Heights Pogrom that he, among a few others including then-Mayor David Dinkins, instigated which Daniel Greenfield noted in this link from yesterday.

What the estimable Greenfield notes in today's essay in that "Much of Hawaii operates by third world rules that subvert American norms" can easily be extrapolated now to almost any American city that is run by Democrats. Not just in their poorer sections but now everywhere thanks to the officially sanctioned anarcho-terrorism via the unleashing of criminals on the citizenry.

Just as an aside, given all of the above, wouldn't Maui be a terrific place for Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis, et al, to send all the illegal alien invaders? Gold, Jerry.

* * * * *

Meanwhile, in a another part of the forest, two items are flying under the radar that given everything else going on in this gold-plated (until the plating is looted) banana republic of ours should raise some eyebrows.

First, as you recall the dulcet tones of Maxine "Love Canal" Waters urging people to "get in their faces," evidently yet another example, in an almost endless parade of them, of someone taking her up on it.

A far-left activist ambushed Christina Pushaw, the rapid response director for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, outside of her home in Miami on Wednesday.

Occupy Democrats executive editor Grant Stern snuck up behind Pushaw to ask about a rumor alleging DeSantis plans to drop out of the 2024 presidential primary and run against Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott in the Senate race.

“Christina, is Ron going to drop out of the race? Is Ron DeSantis gonna drop out?” he said.

Pushaw turned around when her name was called, and then immediately rushed inside as he neared her.

“Is Ron DeSantis gonna stay in the race or is he gonna go join the Senate race?” Stern asked.

Leftists hate guns (we'll ignore the Panthers, Antifa, BLM, the Weathermen and the Transexuals who mow down innocent adults and kids at Christian schools among others for the time being). Knives, bombs and Molotov cocktails? Not so much. In any case, this kind of behavior is acceptable and even to be encouraged. Of course, when parents merely dare raise their voices a notch or two in justifiable anger at a school board meeting about the mind- and body-rape of their kids, they are officially designated as terrorists and put on a watch list by the DOJ.

With that in mind, here's the second item from yesterday that is getting memory-holed as we speak:

A Republican activist named Alexander Talcott was found murdered in his Durham, New Hampshire home over the weekend. Details are scarce but it has been confirmed that Talcott was stabbed in the neck. No arrest has been made yet.

NBC News in Boston reports:

A suspicious death investigation that was underway this weekend in Durham, New Hampshire, has been ruled a homicide after an autopsy was completed on the victim. The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said in a statement Sunday that the medical examiner determined the death of 41-year-old Alexander Talcott was caused by a stab wound to the neck. His manner of death has been ruled a homicide. A spokesperson for the attorney general’s office has confirmed Talcott was a GOP activist and lawyer. . .
. . . The state director of the New Hampshire chapter of the Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) said in a statement to NBC10 Boston that Talcott stood out as “a staunch advocate for the core values of the Republican Party.” “His unwavering belief in liberty, free markets, and limited government resonated deeply in his role as a lawyer. Within the RNLA, his leadership was unwavering in promoting our shared values, ensuring every member felt empowered and well-prepared,” William O’Brien said of Talcott.

The New Hampshire Department of Justice has posted an update which ends strangely with this:

The investigation into Mr. Talcott’s death is ongoing and includes whether the person who stabbed Mr. Talcott acted in self-defense.

There’s obviously more to this story which should become more clear in time. Until then, keep his family and friends in your thoughts.

Wait a second. How can the NH DoJ – without any leads or suspects or theories as to what happened – even begin to postulate that the perp might have acted in self-defense?

Given everything going on around us, that is virtually a rhetorical question.

6 Morning Horde.

I was driving in to work this morning and a Talking Heads song came on.

(Nothing But) Flowers

listening to it a little bit more intently than usual, it was an easy drive, it got me to thinking. i believe the song is supposed to be post apocalyptic war recovery, however, the more i listened, the more i feel like it's more reflective of today's current left wing slaying of "Great Satan".

Thoughts?

also, coffee is ready, time for content.

Too bad that without the mainlanders and the US armed forces, Hawaii (sorry, Hawa'ii) would make Mississippi look utopian by comparison.

22 Scenes from coming attractions:

I've been pounding the drum for an impeachment inquiry in the belief that the Left can't stand the exposure and will pre-emptively push Joe out "for reasons of health."

Until now, I thought that Kevin needed a House majority to launch a formal inquiry because that's been the normal practice for impeachment inquiries, and that might pose a challenge because Kevin only has a slim majority. But on further review, he can do it with a committee approval. Or even on his own, which is what Nancy did in Trump's second impeachment. heh.

I now put high odds on this happening. So say hello to POTUS Kamala and wide open D primaries. If she quits early, say hello to POTUS Kevin who's next in line. heh

So, pretty much, the 1960s Hawaii Five-0 was right? It's an awful place that needs the touch of the haole to make it civilized? That it's a hotbed of racism? That they all resent the USA?

24 "Musk’s Twitter/X Expands Censorship Efforts for Elections"

I just commented (and got willowed) in the tech thread about X (nee Twitter) being back to their throttling and shadow banning tricks. This coincides with the hiring of Linda Yaccarino as CEO.

I have a couple of links in post 208 in the tech thread showing this from actor James Woods, and authors Sarah Hoyt, and John Van Stry. Grab and follow those from that post if you want to see.

So Musk seems to have lied (or at least changed his mind) about how important freedom of speech is to him. The politicians lie, the media lies, big tech lies...

A world built on lies is like the house that is built on the shifting sands. It can't last.

"Nuanced" -- now there's a loaded word.

It refers to the sentiment that, "Yes, there are separate rules not on the books that are stacked against you and, no, you are not allowed to know what they are."

The rental agreement for the car we were driving had language about road conditions, but that may have been code for "no go" zones. Those messages really detract from what I had previously considered a humorous putdown of modern culture and turned it into a series of spiteful jabs to civilization's face.

80 The system in Hawaii, while often headed by Americans, is handicapped by a significant presence of ‘indigenous’ activists who may be merely neglectful or actively hostile. And there’s little question that some people of all races died because of the systemic racism of a setup that treated outsiders as despised interlopers and used informal, rather than formal, systems.

I did some work there on Oahu. We went thru 1 village that would best be described as walmart blue tarps meets Somalia meets Appalachia circa 1930.

There are obviously factions on their side that want him out but there are others that don’t and inertia is powerful. All he has to do is sit tight and not budge. Those who want him out have to act to make it happen. How? Impeachment and removal? No way. Run against him in the primary? No one but RFK Jr and he can’t beat Biden in today’s dem party. *polite cough*

The succession after VP is determined by statute, not the Constitution. In 1792, it was the President Pro Tem of the Senate. Had Andrew Johnson been convicted after his impeachment, Senator Ben Wade of Ohio would have become president.

In 1947, a new law was passed and the Speaker became president if the offices of President and Vice President were vacant. The 25th Amendment notwithstanding, that remains the case. So if Kamala succeeds to the presidency and Congress doesn't vote on a new VP, Mrs. Luntz becomes president if Kamala leaves.

148 But modeling of the potential value of COVID-19 risk-mitigation interventions did indeed play such a role, and should be a cautionary tale for the future, because they enabled panicked governments to implement intervention policies that, while completely untested, were nearly guaranteed to cause massive harm to people’s lives, employment, and economies that would last many years beyond the pandemic itself. The utility of the “non-pharmaceutical” interventions, all pinned to the novel idea that society’s over-arching value was the conservation of intensive care beds, were also over-estimated. Meanwhile, the damages that would be done to society by the radical changes of widespread economic sector shutdowns, exhortations to “stay home, stay safe,” restrictions on occupancy in shops and restaurants, intimidating and unpleasant mask-mandates, social-distancing mandates, and all the rest were almost universally ignored.

My last model was the Mike Dunn at the helm, Leong's "Hawaiian Punch" Funny Car.

FYI this is true of almost all "natives".

The FNM makes this fiction that throughout the continental US there were tribes of people that had lived in their individual area since humans first arrived.

In real actual history the earliest of European colonists documented the wars between various tribes which often ended in one tribe exterminating another and taking their lands.

Literally making election boards half and half instead of governor appointments with partisan majorities allowed.

Roy Cooper, (D election fraud, 2020) vetoed it. Because racism or something.

219 Tucker is wrong about assassination. The lunatics running the show wouldn’t have any compunction about killing him, that’s true. But even our incompetent, stupid “elites” can see that the pluses (for them) of having Trump out of the way are far outweighed by the minuses (most notably: that occurrence would most definitely wake up the LIVs out of their stupor). No… they could more easily put him in prison and/or defeat him with massive ballot dumps… without much downside. Even if he wins (which I think is definitely possible), he gets another 4 years but that worst case scenario for leftists doesn’t mean the end of their precious administrative state. They just hang out for 4 years and ignore/undermine. All the more reason for heritage Americans to focus on the state and local levels…

I read somewhere that the reason Guam and the Northern Marianas are separate territories despite Guam being in the middle of the Marianas island chain is that the Guamamanians cooperated with the Japanese while occupied during WWII and folks on the other islands would not do so.
Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM) at August 31, 2023 08:48 AM (xG4kz)

That's the exact opposite of the truth. Guam was an American territory, Saipan/NMI were under Japanese control. When Pearl was bombed and after the Japanese took Guam, the Saipanese were translators and helped terrorize people on Guam, who lived through actual worse conditions than most in German concentration camps with constant rapes, beheadings, beatings, torture. People on Guam hate the other Marianas islanders with the passion of sixteen hot white suns.

The nastiest cop I've ever encountered seemed to take a personal affront that some sticker was missing on the vehicle. Told me to turn it around and return the car right now. Which I did. The car agency was right next to the hotel I was staying at with sign carrying pickets out front. Fancy name for the hotel but it was in reality a Holiday Inn - that turned off power to the air conditioning every night to conserve energy. Wish the travel agent had mentioned that.

Thanks to Joe Biden, for the first time in 20 years, there will be no more Goldstar families...despite the media’s efforts to cast Biden as just as guilty of something, sane Americans have come to understand that not only did Biden do the right thing by ending this unholy war, but in fact the withdrawal itself was not nearly as calamitous as initially portrayed.

Unfortunately, the media’s obsession with creating Joe Biden’s first “scandal” did in fact lead to a significant drop in his favorable ratings following the withdrawal, but an honest assessment of the entire tragic episode now paints a completely different picture. Biden knew that a failure to follow through on Trump’s previous deal with the Taliban to withdraw American troops would lead to an immediate resumption of hostilities and continued loss of life for our troops. Responsible Americans understand this and will cast their votes accordingly.

Thoughts?

I had a similar experience about a year ago. I almost never pay much attention to lyrics but I was on a long drive and that song came on. So, I paid some attention to snatches of lyrics.

I was surprised so I listen to it again. "(Nothing But)Flowers sounds exactly like what would happen if the Ecotards and EcoPanickers won and destroyed our civilization. "Oh, look that nasty capitalistic Walmart is gone but we have a beautiful field of flowers!!!!"

The song's narrator is nearly starving to death and pining for the old days and old ways.

I doubt that was the intent of the song but David Byrne is one of the smarter rock dudes out there, so who knows?

I sort of appreciate this attempt. It must drive them nuts that Trump - that idiot Trump - had peace breaking out everywhere and didn't start any new wars. My uncle was a medic on Saipan.

He said they were held down on the beach until battleships started lobbing rounds into the machine gun nests.

He spent time floating in the ocean after his 1st ship was hit by a torpedo and sunk, but I wasn't told if that happened before or after the battle on the island. He wouldn't talk about Saipan.

Oh, and those two Hawaiian 'shovel ready' future scientists...odds are they were fed on the taxpayer dime as they grew up into the grateful, upstanding examples of diversity they now are, bloated on the sacrifices of supremest white men who died protecting the Pacific in WWII.
