Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Book By Archliberal Franklin Foer: Biden Privately Confesses to Being "Tired" Due to His Advanced AgeYou don't say. You just don't say.President Biden, in private, "would occasionally admit that he felt tired," during his first two years as commander in chief, according to a forthcoming book. The 80-year-old president's "advanced years" have been a "hindrance," stripping him of his vigor and leaving him unable to quickly recall peoples names, Franklin Foer writes in "The Last Politician," according to an excerpt published by The Guardian Tuesday. "It was striking that he took so few morning meetings or presided over so few public events before 10 a.m.," Foer says in the book due out on Sept. 5. "His public persona reflected physical decline and time's dulling of mental faculties that no pill or exercise regime can resist. "In private, he would occasionally admit that he felt tired," the bombshell book claims. Biden, the oldest president in US history, has been plagued by questions related to his mental acuity amid a re-election campaign that, if successful, will entrench him in the Oval Office until he is 86.Frederick Foer was the editor of New Republic when they published those "Iraq War Diaries" by Scott "mindthoughts and soulpatterns" Beauchamp. He also vigorously pushed the Russiagate hoax. I think he was the one who pushed the "Alfa bank" hoax. So as I said, he's an archliberal Democrat hack. Here comes the inevitable mitigating spin: Nick Arama at RedState rounds up a couple of alarming recent Biden age-related incidents.

I don't think Elba is too old for the right kind of Bond movies. A killer set of movies could be written about an aging, black double-O agent and the evolving place of immigrants within the former empire, one pitting him against those who want to see Britain fail (and that's not, checks notes, rightwingers, contra the most recent book) and guys like Bond who understand Britain is worth defending, faults and all. But that would require talented writers, adult scripts (which has never been the Bond films' forte), and a sophisticated audience. None of those things are in supply. So we'll get more dogshit. It's dogshit all the way down.

With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level.) After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag. Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at August 30, 2023 12:45 PM (ynpvh) 187

Got an email today from a teacher of one of my kids. Email said heads up we are going to read some classic literature this semester. These books may have themes some mind find offensive, problematic, etc. If anyone I has any issues with these books and would prefer the kids be assigned something else, let me know. Books in question include, The Iliad and Beowulf.
I guess anything written by a dead white guy is now problematic and offensive. At least they’re still reading it which is something. Posted by: Montec at August 30, 2023 01:23 PM (HbYZK) 402

Wiki but...
||History Solanum lycopersicum var. lycopersicum: the oldest surviving tomato fruit and leaves. Page from the En Tibi Herbarium, 1558. Naturalis Leiden. The wild ancestor of the tomato, Solanum pimpinellifolium, is native to western South America.[7] These wild versions were the size of peas.[7] The first evidence of domestication points to the Aztecs and other peoples in Mesoamerica, who used the fruit fresh and in their cooking. The Spanish first introduced tomatoes to Europe, where they became used in Spanish food. In France, Italy and northern Europe, the tomato was initially grown as an ornamental plant. It was regarded with suspicion as a food because botanists recognized it as a nightshade, a relative of the poisonous belladonna.[3] This was exacerbated by the interaction of the tomato's acidic juice with pewter plates.[8] The leaves and fruit contain tomatine, which in large quantities would be toxic. However, the ripe fruit contains a much lower amount of tomatine than the immature fruit.[9]|| Posted by: andycanuck (krqg6) at August 30, 2023 01:24 PM (krqg6) 409

The tomato was introduced to China, likely via the Philippines or Macau, in the 1500s. It was given the name 番茄 fānqié (foreign eggplant), as the Chinese named many foodstuffs introduced from abroad, but referring specifically to early introductions.[15]
