Humpstack Cafe

I feel bad. Sea Stack Appreciation Week is halfway over. I always have this melancholy about this time of year when I start thinking about taking down my Sea Stack Seasonal decorations.

Good luck vmom. I've had three dogs that torsed and all survived the surgery. They'll tack the stomach to the abdominal wall to hopefully keep it from happening again.

If it is torsion, it's important that they do the surgery as soon as possible to cut down the risk of inadequate perfusion to the surrounding structures.

Grammie lived in San Francisco when my bio mom was a little kid, and the neighbor raised a pig in his back yard, which to kill it for butchering, stabbed it and chased it around the back yard until it bled out. Which my grandmother felt, even after 40 years, was completely uncalled for.

Grammi and Grampa butched hogs at the farm until the early 60's. It was a huge affair with all of the local kin and a few of the neighbors helping out. The butcher stove, a wood fired, long, low, cast iron monstrosity with places for two immense cast iron kettles would go all day until said pigs were no more.

Since I have known a lot of state workers and their linguistic abilities are enough to order a chalupa off a menu board, I suspect the emails were composed in latin characters and then converted to a greek font, and the recipient would have had to do the reverse: highlilght the text, convert the alphabet and then read it plaintext

This is not accidental, it is intentionally hiding evidence. I also suspect there was a very slow learning curve because these are not criminal masterminds who understand cryptography since that is not the mindset for state workers in any state.

He told this story once, I about pissed myself laughing. Said one time gramps got a good deal on a dozen chickens. Turns out, they were live chickens. They would have to butcher them, clean and defeather. They had never done that.

For some reason, they decided to do this in the basement. The look on my dad’s face when he described the carnage that ensued. LOL

185 Oh, yes. I'm a librarian (although reference/research is not my specialty). So far I'm not finding any evidence that this paper has been digitized. It's not in the SC historic newspaper project. I found microfilm and print copies in at least one library in SC.

My great grandfather founded this newspaper so it's a big part of our family history. We're finding many back issues or clippings at the house, but unfortunately most of them are in terrible condition.

201 RedState.com seems to enjoy it when people like Rudy Giuliani get bad treatment from the courts. Of course we all know that Giuliani is an ally of President Trump, so he must be destroyed. RedState.com seems to have no problem with this one bit.
Anb this ultimately, is why we lose and will lose again. The Democrats and the Left do ANYTHING to win, whether what they do is unethical or illegal. Yet we have a bunch of "idea men" on our side who want to spend all their time talking and letting the system go forward, despite the fact that the system of justice in America is no longer a system of justice. Our lawyers have made sure of this part! It's why we've never had meaningful tort reform. Add to it the reality of the Conservative Grifter Class (who really hate the people they supposedly speak for) and there is no going back.
The stealing of 2020 and the death of Rush Limbaugh ushered in this hell we live in now. Those we counted on sold us out for political expediency. And they always will.
I fear not just for the nation but our very lives now. We all need to sleep with firearms, lest they come for us in the dead of night. They will.

208 Historical hog-butcherin: Sherman claimed he had an outfit that could steal, scald and scrape a hog without breaking stride.
Kipling was born in India, but sent as a child to stay with relatives in England who had a hog farm. His behavior on slaughtering days was so bloodthirsty that it was mentioned in later reviews of his writing.

I watched a back-country crew do a hog barbecue, with some degree of artistry. One .22 between the eyes, to save the skull. Tarp-dragged the carcass to a chosen spot in the woods, where the gut pile disappeared all by itself by the next morning. And, the scraping was done with a straight razor. It took a while, but that guy could have done barber shaves in the big city.

-------
P. G. Wodehouse had a terrific short story called (I think) Life and Death in Bludleigh about a mild mannered English writer who visited relatives at Bludleigh Manor and turned into a bloodthirsty hunter.
Her writing also took a turn to the macabre. She wrote a poem "Good Gnus" that starts:

"When cares attack and life seems black,
How sweet it is to pot a yak,"

and towards the end, after she's shot a gnu:
"And one more gnu, so fair and frail,
Has handed in its dinner-pail"

The euphemism for death "has handed in its dinner-pail" gets me every time.
