St. Mort, Patron Saint of Sea Stacks Cafe

Sea Stack Appreciation Week continues:

irelandseastack.jpg
Dun Briste sea stack in County Mayo, Ireland

Setting off some sparks.

Advanced Wagglebutt Syndrome.

The cutest little overwrought death scene.

Maybe dogs don't even like playing fetch. Maybe they're just trying to return our lost property to us, and get annoyed when we immediately re-lose it.

I've linked this about five times but this (sea) otter is so adorable.

I've also linked this: Baby bear terrifies you with the cutest little threat display.

Infrequently Asked Questions: Do cats enjoy ball-pits?

Pet disco.

Bunny jumping on a bed.

Is this a school for ants?

Dog: What is happening right now?"

The ultimate race: boy versus duckling.

The Japanese are just good at game shows.

This is probably set up but I like seeing TikTokers being punished.

Guy even had a subscription to Full Cry magazine which is for the coon hunting crowd. He could tell you how cute and cuddly the raccoons are after showing you a couple vet bills. That actually makes me sad. Driving through Nevada years ago at night I hit something pretty hard - a jack rabbit or something - and it really messed my driving vibe up. I kind of clipped one one night and the thought of a deer in need of serious veterinary care off in the woods in pain and such made for a very unpleasant drive.

137 Coon hunting, at least in the South, is a socializing event. Tramp back into the woods/swamp, build a fire, set the dogs loose, sit by fire passing the bottle, telling the same old lies while waiting on the dogs to tree something. Then comes the semi-sober thrash through the swamp/woods, briars to find the treed critter.

I suspect that's different if you've got elk or bison or the like, but down here in the South it's pretty good advice. He said he's seen tons of cars with thousands of dollars damage - or even totaled - because someone was trying to avoid a turkey or dog.

Snapping turtles can bite things that grab them by the legs. Front or back. Way more reach and flexibility than you'd expect from a turtle.

So if you have to move one, you have your choice of potentially getting whizzed on, or getting bitten by something that won't let go even if you kill it.

A machete is the correct tool for when you pull up a snapping turtle on the catfish trotline.

You can cut off it's head, or you can cut that hook out of the trotline. But what you're not going to succeed in doing, is grabbing the snapping turtle and working the hook out like you would with a fish. Youze gonna get BIT!

2 marine pilots saw a good time possible so they flew to our aircraft carrier half way between CA and HI.
They landed and asked for fuel. Their jets were found to have just a couple of problems that prevented the Navy from allowing them to launch. The jets were taken off the carrier by crane. IIRC there were over 35 down checks.

"Hey, Billy, grab a dzus key and follow me". Went to the line, and one of our T33s had a panel that just didn't line up right. Top has me lay on the ground, boost the panel with my feet, and he gives it a couple stout hits with a wheel chock. 258 I logged into facebook for the first time in a long time and I learned some things;

1) From a video/Ad: Apparently a US invasion of Russia would be easy since the Russians would see the game was up and refuse to fight. Also, Americans would be happy to be drafted to save "Ukrainian Democracy"

2) From a post from a relative: *Another* one of my extend family members is mourning a young male friend dead unexpectedly - no cancer, no heart disease, no obesity, and under 40

3) From a political posting from a cow-worker: Things are good really really good in America - in fact have never been better! Note his last post before that: There is an active Neo-NAZI insurrection that has pared up with most of Americas cops to kill black people on sight.

259 Japan has some memorable game shows...

The one where you have to land a spinning/flying top into someone's backhole

The one where young women in white t-shirts have to answer questions before being dropped into a big vat of water

And the absolute best...

The one where men have to answer questions while a female assistant spanks their monkey* before they, uh, culminate the game.

*Tastefully done behind a towel of course

Honestly, that show played a huge role in bonding with my teenaged boys. We still laugh about it.

I can throw out a "Right you are Ken!" during almost any conversation with them and they will lose their collective minds.

MythBusters did an episode on that. As I recall they concluded that if you hit a moose, you're screwed, no matter how fast you're going. It's coming through the windshield and you're going to have a very bad day.

266 My best friend onboard was a corpsman. When we were not at flight stations, sometimes we'd use that room at the base of the tower to get away from everyone else. Have a drink and a snack and play backgammon.

There was another remote-surgery room under the flight deck on the starboard side that I was assigned to on a 2nd cruise. It too was a refuge when needed.

Snapping turtles can bite things that grab them by the legs. Front or back. Way more reach and flexibility than you'd expect from a turtle.

I told her it was because 1) I have had other girlfriends in the past, 2) I might have someone who might need it some day and 3) it was in my 1st aid shelf and it is a sterile, absorbent pad in case of injuries that bleed a lot.
