A Farewell to Sea Stacks Cafe

Tonight is the customary Closing Ceremony of Sea Stack Appreciation Week.

SalvatoreBenantisunsetamongtheseastacksofTerrasini.jpg
Salvatore Benanti, Sunset Among the Stacks of Terrasini

Sad. By the way, it was that picture that made me want to celebrate Sea Stack Appreciation week, the way our forefathers did.

A couple of more user-contributed sea stacks located at Rialto Beach, Washington, from our own nurse ratched.

riallobeachwatate.jpg

archrockfromnurse.jpg

You know, now that our shared sea stack odyssey is over, I'd like to think we've all learned some things along the way. Important things. Some things about friendship, and a perhaps a fresh openness to the beauty of nature.

We've learned a little about those things. But mostly, we've learned about sedimentary rock and erosion, which I think is far more important. Because friendship is stupid and nature is gay.

To close with a YouTube-style "call to action" and engagement: What have you learned about sea stacks that you will take with you through your further experiential journeying? What Life Notes have you taken from your new understanding of limestone and schistocity which you can add to your Action Plan and Goal Agenda for self-actualization?

Another handsome fella.

I think this is one of those fish that clean other fishes' teeth.

A feather star, or crinoid.

Candle ice.

Baby goats playing on an improvised slide.

The world's most dangerous cat. Number one may surprise you!

Switzerland.

More Swiss beauty.

Baby lions.

Very large backyard Lego train set.

Hi folks, I couldn't make last night's café, and wanted to tell y'all ... wait ... what's that stench? It is! There's the path they walked through on last night! Despite the industrial-strength disinfectants and stench-removers the custodial staff tried to use! Penguins!!!

What? You say Ace called them "snow bats"? Mein Gott! Taking the brand of a beloved AoSHQ leit-motif, and using it to try to rebrand their sloppy, smelly and perverse brand? That like calling your Bud Light a Shiner Bock.

The insidiousness, persistence, and pervertedness of Big Penguin is far worse than I thought.

Call it out! Point and laugh! Don't be fooled! This is just the penguin's beak under the igloo!

28 Cloud iridescence is caused by diffraction, reflection & refraction of light through tiny water droplets.

Cirrus clouds are most known for iridescence since they are composed of the smallest & most uniform ice crystals. Their high altitude allows for maximum light scattering.

Rialto beach is my favorite place. It's wild and remote and beautiful. It can also be dangerous and unforgiving.

There's a little sea otter named Rialto who was rescued off that very beach in 2016. He was stranded and quite sick and underweight when he was plucked off the beach. He now lives at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Why yes, I've visited him. Three times.

Some Englishman was saying that the shepherds say that there is always a "mad sheep" in a flock. It is the one that never goes where it is supposed to, always goes the wrong way, and wanders off. It is also the one that leads the herd through snow drifts, or gets them to water when the regular hole dries out or gets blocked.

my first (I was allowed to drive) was a hand me down from my dear, deceased Danish grandma. Something with a push-button transmission and no power steering. It was a blue sedan and my arms hurt after driving it. But I became -and still am-the rarest of female creatures... an awesome parallel parker.

In regard to the 'Playoffs', I believe they are outside looking in. I think there are provisions for the conferences that are outside of the 'Big 5' conferences; SEC, ACC, BIG10+, PAC 12 (for now), BIG 12, to compete in the playoffs, but they can get frozen out, depending on what the Big 5 conferences teams fair over the season.

I learned that Sea Stacks are evolved from single-molecule grained sized rocks into complex, multi-molecule rock formations from natural selection occurring over billions of years.

Armed with this new knowledge, I plan to carry out destroying nature, because nature is all accidental and there really is nothing special about it.

It could happen again. It might not. It probably won't. But it doesn't matter because there is really no higher order or process, just all randomly occurring things. So basically it's all pointless.

Toxic waste dump. Dead panda bears. Eventual Venus-type surface temperatures and the world in flames. None of it really matters unless I'm there to observe it, and I'm not gonna live forever.

Nobody did. People outright rejected it and begged for it not to happen because folks knew that it would take a huge amount (500K+?) of used cars permanently off the market.

It destroyed a lot of interesting collectibles, borderline exotic, and outright exotic cars, too. Bentleys come to mind, Porsche 928s, and lots of M3s. I remember a TVR being in the mix. The worst was probably a Buick Gran National.

Yep. Someone permanently destroyed a Gran National.

Begged it not to happen, but our first gay president had a gay plan.

And I don't want to sell either of his or my vehicles because "well it is so hard to find a decent cheap used vehicle now, especially a pickup" So the batteries need some help now.

I need to fix the aide issue though. I've just been frozen at the thought of trying to find live in help. Rents are theoretically super high so having room and board should be a sweetener on the deal where it wouldn't cost horribly much, maybe. We are a backwater, although it is commutable to metro areas.

Removing them from the market makes a smaller pool for people that can't afford much to have to fight for.

All through the centuries, the balance of power in war has swung back and forth between defense and offense, between hugely expensive and massive weapons systems, and cheap, simple countermeasures.

This example demonstrates that the pendulum has swung back to where huge, incredibly complex machines of war can be defeated by some very cheap and easy to produce items. (drones dropping hand grenades have also been used) The nature of war itself is leaving the 20th century model behind.
