State Department Memos Disprove the Cover Story Biden and the Democrats Have Been Telling About Ukraine's Corruption
Biden infamously bragged about threatening to withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine unless they fired the prosecutor who was investigating, what was that again? Oh yes, he was investigating corruption and money-laundering at Burisma, which had hired Hunter Biden to help get Burisma cleared to do business in the US.
The claim from the Obama Administration and the Biden Crime Family is that it was necessary to to fire this prosecutor for Ukraine to prove it was complying with anti-corruption stipulations to receiving aid. I know it doesn't make sense that you'd fire someone investigating corruption to prove you were fighting corruption, but that's the story this gang of criminals and thieves has been going with for years. But now State Department records reveal that Ukraine had been certified as being adequately vigorous in their anti-corruption measures -- which suggests that Biden was conducting his own private, profitable foreign policy when he demanded that Ukraine fire the prosecutor who his son's paymasters wanted fired.
Just weeks before then-Vice President Joe Biden took the opposite action in late 2015, a task force of State, Treasury and Justice Department officials declared that Ukraine had made adequate progress on anti-corruption reforms and deserved a new $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee, according to government memos that conflict with the narrative Democrats have sustained since the 2019 impeachment scandal. "Ukraine has made sufficient progress on its reform agenda to justify a third guarantee," reads an Oct. 1, 2015, memo summarizing the recommendation of the Interagency Policy Committee (IPC) -- a task force created to advise the Obama White House on whether Ukraine was cleaning up its endemic corruption and deserved more Western foreign aid. The recommendation is one of several U.S. government memos gathered by Just the News over the last 36 months from Freedom of Information Act litigation, congressional inquiries and government agency sources that directly conflict with the long-held narrative that Biden was conducting official U.S. policy when he threatened to withhold a $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee to force Ukraine to fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, the country's equivalent of the American attorney general. At the time the threat was made in December 2015, Shokin's office was conducting an increasingly aggressive corruption investigation into Burisma Holdings, an energy firm the State Department deemed to have been engaged in bribery and that employed Hunter Biden and paid him millions while his father was vice president. New details on the impact of that probe have emerged in recent days. Shokin's pursuit was rattling Burisma, and the firm was putting pressure on Hunter Biden to deal with it, according to recent testimony and interviews with Devon Archer, Hunter Biden's former business partner and fellow Burisma board member. The memos obtained by Just the News show: Senior State Department officials sent a conflicting message to Shokin before he was fired, inviting his staff to Washington for a January 2016 strategy session and sent him a personal note saying they were "impressed" with his office's work. U.S. officials faced pressure from Burisma emissaries in the United States to make the corruption allegations go away and feared the energy firm had made two bribery payments in Ukraine as part of an effort to get cases settled. A top U.S. official in Kyiv blamed Hunter Biden for undercutting U.S. anticorruption policy in Ukraine through his dealings with Burisma. During Trump's first impeachment in late 2019, State officials testified that Hunter Biden's acceptance of a job at Burisma at a time when his father was vice president created the appearance of a conflict of interest but did not materially impact U.S. policy in Ukraine. But in a private, classified email shared with Just the News, one of the top U.S. officials in the Kyiv embassy told then-Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch at the end of the Obama administration that Hunter Biden had, in fact, impacted the U.S. anti-corruption agenda in Ukraine. "The real issue to my mind was that someone in Washington needed to engage VP Biden quietly and say that his son Hunter's presence on the Burisma board undercut the anti-corruption message the VP and we were advancing in Ukraine b/c Ukrainians heard one message from us and then saw another set of behavior with the family association with a known corrupt figure whose company was known for not playing by the rules," embassy official George Kent wrote to Yovanovitch in the Nov. 22, 2016, email marked "confidential."

Whether or not Biden did anything wrong - and it's unlikely that they really did, outside of the right-wing spin machine - the Trump's motivations and goals were illicit. The NYT article talks about the wonders of Athens' random appointment of people to high-ranking jobs (since the vast majority of Athenians were slaves, only the elites got appointed).
The Atlantic article details the incredible burden of having to vote three times every two years, plus Americans (particularly in the West) have to vote for so gosh darn many positions - school boards, city councils, school boards, water district boards, cemetery district boards, and on and on. How burdensome!
Of course, the point behind voting for all these boards is that normally no one pays attention, and the incumbents are reelected, but if the organization screws up, there is a way of removing the people responsible for overseeing the organization.
Along with the WEF's Klaus Schwab's announcement that eventually we won't need elections, since we'll know who would have won anyway, it's pretty obvious that the elites are moving towards abolishing elections.

Any one Senator can grind the Senate business to a halt on the floor by denying unanimous consent. Any senator can demand entire bills (thousands of pages long) be read in full on the floor. That we all know the overstuffed CR that will definitely come when the House folds in the face of the Senate run by Chuck Schumer saying, "nah, bro" will not be read in full on the Senate floor, that Cruz won't be the architect of actual things that could kneecap the administrative state, that tells me he's purposefully limiting himself.
Instead, he will hoop and holler in committee hearings where news gets out about bad things in government, but, gosh darn it, we couldn't stop it because we don't have the votes.

Macgregor is kind of meh. I think the broad strokes of what he is saying are correct - that the path of supporting Ukraine ends with US troops there doing the fighting, and that we are not going to do a 4 day smash and grab like in Desert Storm.
But he also his own agenda, his push for diesel-electric tanks is a tell, its a specific technological answer (probably from a specific technology vendor). If we lose to Russia in a fight it wont be because we have turbine powered tanks first fielded in the 80s (note the 50 cal on top of those tanks was first fielded in 1918.) American tanks have been overmatching Soviet/Russian tanks forever. The other problems he points out are cultural, and worse than he describes.

I find it interesting that people claim Trump is an idiot or the like. I'm not claiming Trump is a genius, but if he's an idiot, I'd like to be so stupid that I have that kind of success. I'd wager that Trump is at least as smart as everyone commenting here - probably smarter.

My perfectly healthy clients were not allowed to travel from one island to another to visit their own property. American citizens were turned away at the airport because they got the wrong COVID test on the mainland. The hotel gave me “parole” from the one way card key rule only to do my legal business and leave. I could not call an Uber or take a taxi at the airport. The National Guard met me at the gate to escort me to Hawaii COVID immigration to provide my information, which they verified with the hotel. I was to keep my phone on at all times so that they could track my location.
This same police state didn’t turn the water on in Lahaina, didn’t have sirens, can’t begin to tell you how many children died from their incompetence. Or begin to explain it.
Remember all this the next time you are asked to comply with farcical, unjust “laws” made by dictators.

I don't know if anyone hates Cruz. He's one of the better Senators, but I would not trust him as president not to be part of the GOPe. During his last run for president he was in the wrong on illegal immigration, border enforcement, and border control. He played word games with the concept of "amnesty" such that he's say he was against "amnesty" but if you paid attention to what else he said, he was favoring some form of legal status for all the illegals as part of "comprehensive immigration reform". So he was playing the game where "amnesty" meant something like immediate citizenship, whereas everyone else used "amnesty" to mean any form of legal status given to illegals. It's a game all the GOP people play and why I trust none of them other than Trump on the issue.

I lost interest when he blamed the Americans who got permits and marched peacefully per the law for the violence in Charlottesville instead of taking the opportunity to explain how freedom works even when someone believes in distasteful ideas.

Let me point something out, the name of politics nowadays is "Ballot Access" and it is something that has been keeping a lot of LP candidates off the ballot in larger states.
The GOP and DEM both act to prevent ballot access iand if you are not one of the two parties you don't get to play. NY is one of those states.

Again, not shilling for Ramaswamy, just commenting on the race right now: he is moving his candidacy forward. He's been doing a lot of things to get "earned media" - he goes to where action is and makes a clear statement about it.
I think that he does a number of things that Scott Adams talks about on persuasion - AB testing of statements. He does calibrate what he says. I think there are some things that he as a strong core alignment on, and some things he doesn't.
He published "Ten Truths" - I don't disagree with any of this:
1. God is real.
2. There are two genders.
3. Human flourishing requires fossil fuels.
4. Reverse racism is racism.
5. An open border is no border.
6. Parents determine the education of their children.
7. The nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind.
8. Capitalism lifts people up from poverty.
9. There are three branches of the U.S. government, not four.
10. The U.S. Constitution is the strongest guarantor of freedoms in history.
