The Morning Report — 8/22/23

haolehotfoot.jpg

Good morning, kids. I find it rather ironic that the Cultural Revolution has taken Stalin's airbrush and wiped out Queen's classic "Fat-Bottomed Girls" from the collective memory. One lyric in particular is rather appropriate:

Left alone with big fat Fanny, She was such a naughty nanny, Hey big woman, you made a bad boy out of me.

Instantly, the porcine, plump punim of a certain Fulton County DA popped into my head.

And then, I thought of the Blob Who Ate Bergen County, aka Chris Christie, aka "Krispy Kreosote" who Crybaby Kinzinger claims Donald Trump is deadly afraid of. Newsflash for this fool: everyone is afraid of Krispy, mostly of not being able to escape the gravitational field he generates by being a halitosis and lipid gas giant, and being sucked into his maw. But I digress.

Last week, I wrote an essay critical of stalwart legal eagle William Jacobson's views on Donald Trump and the situation he faces. Yesterday, Ace vented his spleen and spilled a lot of pixels against the former (and deposed) president. Ditto today my friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh.

In many ways, if not most, I agree with them insofar as being critical of candidate Trump. To be fair, his outstanding policy victories and successes contrast sharply with some of his more boneheaded moves, especially with regard to his last year in office; in particular the Chinese COVID debacle and how Fauci and Birx bamboozled him and all or most of us into masking up, locking down and allowing the waffer-theen fig leaf of an illusion of election integrity to be totally snuffed out. And the rest as they say is history, which, lookie here! Seems ready to repeat itself.

If we are all in agreement, which I believe we are, that this upcoming election is going to be rigged out the wazoo to prevent any GOP nominee from winning, then why in God's name are we wasting our breath railing against Trump the candidate in an election that will be next to impossible for him to win – regardless if he is languishing in a prison cell or not? Should we not be spending our time and energy rallying around Trump the political martyr?

Granted, he himself doesn't make it easy when he engages in petty politics and personal attacks on Ron DeSantis and others as if he too thinks this is all just slightly more rough and tumble than mere business as usual. Considering everything that happened to him since he came down the escalator in 2015, and will continue to be inflicted on him and his family until the end of time, surely he has to see that America as founded or at least as it operated at the bare minimum of how it was intended to operate has been snuffed out. Infuriating and frustrating to say the least.

So now, he's going to surrender to this Aunt Fanny fascist in Georgia and allow himself to be debased with mugshots as well as be muzzled, lest his bail be revoked and he gets chucked in a prison cell.

This is just regular party politics? This is business as usual? Meh, maybe the focus shouldn't be on what Trump should or should not do given these circumstances. Maybe we should start thinking about what it is that we should be doing. Because soon enough, we'll be looking back at the situation as it stands today as "the good old days."

I honestly don't think I've ever felt more helpless about things in my life. God forbid we get to the stage of feeling hopeless.

* * * * *

And yesterday, Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants finally shows up in Maui and gives himself a hotfoot. The death toll here is going to possibly top 1,000 people and he's joking around? It's an horrendous tragedy, which is getting either zero press or otherwise is being blamed on "climate change" if not "haoli-supremacy." The stark truth is that every tragedy or catastrophe that has befallen the United States, it is the Democrats and Leftists that either caused it or exacerbated it.Yet, it's the people who have voted for this, time and time again, that in this case are suffering grievously. Along with the rest of us.

One day if they do wake up and try to vote their way out of it, they'll get a cold slap in the face when what happened on election night 2020 happens to them.

10 The Left (and Media) can't stand the exposure of an impeachment inquiry. If McCarthy can get the votes for an inquiry, the Left will force Biden to resign now. The 25th is just too cumbersome. This would open up the D primaries.

Otherwise the Left will let Biden run in the primaries to rack up delegates to use to install someone like Gavin or Gretchen, after Biden quits for reasons of health.

17 I honestly don't think I've ever felt more helpless about things in my life. God forbid we get to the stage of feeling hopeless.

I'm already there.

Trump is going to prison, likely to die there. 2024s fraud will be massive - bigly, even - and no-one will do anything about it except scream "Vote harder!"

I hate disagreeing with Ace, but I poked my head in on that awful Trump thread yesterday. He was virulently disagreeing with the thought that what is being done to Trump will be done to any other GOP candidate. And so far as the candidate might be Pence, he's correct.

The problem is, as ever, the precedent. If the left can indict, try and jail Trump on what are essentially nonsensical, invented charges, then they have set the stage to pre-emptively remove any GOP candidate other than the weakest, moistest Deep State stooge.

Donald Trump's indictment and arrest is the test case -the final probe by the left to see whether the right is anything more than bombastic 'muh guns!' nickelfuckers. And yet people continue to believe that once Trump is removed, all will be well.

I've heard of willful blindness, but that is deliberately blinding yourself.

60 I think Republicans should be highly critical of Trump, as his flaws are easily fixed, which will benefit the country, and most basically stem from one thing.

He is ruled by his ego. If someone, especially those who hate his guts, say even the slightest nice thing about him, he seems to fold. Kim Kardashian shook her giant ass at him and almost got him to agree to pretty much the BLM platform of releasing criminals because really their all just sweet old grannies. The same thing happened with the Pledge to Support the Nominee, where Trump said he'd only back Tim Scott, because in Trump's own words "he's said some nice things about me." Yet those who align 99% with Trump get nothing but his ire because they won't anoint him King.

This goes hand in hand with his second flaw, terrible personnel management. He surrounded himself with many of the worst, probably because they kissed his ass. In turn he left in leftist criminals at the head of every department, which is screwing us over. 1/2

Posted by: Rbastid at August 22, 2023 08:10 AM (mUOnp)

61 2/2

Last is prioritizing what to do. He'll have a great idea on things to get done to better the country, but then get distracted and focus something new and shiney. Focus on 2 or 3 issues that actually benefit America. Wanting to produce a lasting peace in the middle east is important, but when you're allowing cities to burn and peace to not exist here, you've lost the major point.

Fix these few issues, make sure to get a VP that fills your gaps and doesn't just mimic you, and dump your self serving son in law, and Trump becomes almost the perfect candidate, at least on paper. But if no one dares to criticize him and bring up these issues, we end up with the same president as last time, one who was good, but could have done a lot more not only policy wise, but when it comes to cleaning out and jailing the rot within the government.

Trump is a man being persecuted for political crimes at all levels as a prong in the generalized attack on the remaining vestiges of the Republic, yet he flies his own plane to get indicted and voluntarily goes in to get arrested.

Trump's behavior on this is why he is not the right man for the job (not that it matters). He is too blindered when it comes to American systems. Of all people, he should know better by now but he cannot give up the dream. He is a patriot, after all, and has great faith in America - likely, this is a foundational precept that he cannot abandon. I think he still thinks that he can win by continuing the follow the rules of order.

73 Which brings up an interesting point that I hadn't considered.

The masks were part of it to intentionally help spread COVID to the elderly and other shut-ins.

The masks meant you could go and do things normally, remember? You could visit your dying family members without a care in the world so long as you wore that old Garfield t-shirt over your face.

It was a plan to SPREAD the virus.

Ace has never liked Trump and I remember him going spastic over him in 2015-2016. That's fine and that is his choice. However, it is obvious that candidate quality is irrelevant. It is also apparent the any candidate not approved by the Uniparty is going to get the Trump treatment. Voting doesn't matter and getting in a fight over Trump is stupid. The only reason to vote for Trump is to stick a thumb in the eye of the Uniparty. Otherwise, I plan on only voting on state or lower races in 2014. No sense in playing in a rigged game.

80 From the AmGreatness article on self-governance:
In a real sense, for Republicans at least, elections do not matter. A Republican president will not be able to govern if he aims to change business-as-usual in the slightest, even if he somehow wins. The military-industrial complex, the intelligence agencies, and the millions of federal workers, federal contractors, and beneficiaries will not let him make any meaningful changes. As repeatedly demonstrated in Russiagate and numerous other episodes during Trump’s presidency, the defiance of the permanent bureaucracy and its alignment with the narrow partisan ends of the Democrats visibly undermine the reality of self-government.
++++
Yes. The presidency is a false prize. It doesn't matter. A Republican president might - but only might - be able to retard the advance a little bit. He will not achieve his agenda, even if the agenda is good.

It is normalcy bias. It is hard to admit something you loved, in this case a nation, is dead. The GOP as a party certainly should have been at the forefront of opposition to our descent into totalitarianism and stood against turning Trump into a political prisoner, but it was fully onboard with both. That was utterly predictable, too.

Yes there will be a large push to steal the election, but with enough support there is there ability to overcome it, because Democrats will have to justify their extremely inflated numbers in a year when we won't have as much mass mail in balloting.

Following that up is this "I'm taking my ball and going home" rally of those who support Trump only. They scream "America First" but cry when they don't get "Trump First"

I wouldn't be surprised if most of this is an attempt of trolls to depress people who want to make things better. If not it's frankly pathetic and embarrassing how so many have decided they'll just give up already, especially those who always pretend to act like ther tough guy fighters.

The former is true. The latter might not be. There can be disorder, persecution, chaos and oppressive tyranny without things coming apart. The two cannot exist together forever - the means of maintaining power decay under such a force, and the difference is made up by consuming existing capital (both political and physical) - but the party can continue until the money (metaphorically) runs out.

Until people reach the more or less simultaneous conclusion of, "put out the fire and call in the dog because the party is *over,*" things do not come apart at wider levels. Individuals' lives will come apart, some areas might come apart, etc. - but the system itself persists until it absolutely *can't* anymore.

Yes, the government and its officials are acting like they're in end-stage looting, but I don't assume that it represents the end of them per se. It certainly means the end of the fiction that this is a republic or that it is not a police state. It means the end of hidden (if only barely, and usually incompetently) tyranny. It means the end of American legacy stuff like free enterprise and dynamic business formation. It means the end of traditional notions of "property" and "association."

The end of the country as it still pretends to be is nigh. The end of the ruling power structure may not be, and they're just getting while the getting is still good. There will be a shake-up, of course, and the ruling class will probably shrink, but that doesn't mean they're finished.

140 I have to travel today so I’m in and out… but just one thought about Ace’s Trump criticisms (and Michael Walsh’s which I haven’t read; I did read the Ace thread but didn’t comment):

Blaming Trump for his legal problems with commies is like blaming the pretty girl with the short skirt for her rape. Why is anyone mad at Trump?? It’s insane! Should we be mad at a hot, mini-skirt-clad lady for getting raped?? This is all misplaced anger. Everyone here should be mad at the commie prosecutors and no one else.

The fact that Trump is imperfect (duh.. of course) is really beside the point. The totalitarian oligarchs are raping our country (Trump is a surrogate for us) and we complain about Trump’s imperfections and pretend we need more “quality” in our candidates. Like I said…. Insane

I got a quarter under my pillow for each tooth. By the time the last tooth came out, I (like most kids, I reckon) knew it that the Tooth Fairy was actually my parents. When my last baby tooth came out, I got a good-condition Morgan silver dollar under my pillow - a real gift to mark the occasion since "last baby tooth is gone" is a pretty big symbolic event on the path to being a grown-up and deserved commemoration.

Yes, that may take a while and increased thuggery will precede it, but their voraciousness indicates they know their time is limited. Those they serve will bug out to Davos and New Zealand or wherever at a decent interval. "Ukraine aid packages" are a good tell--if they dramatically increase in size in the near term it will indicate an economic implosion looms on the horizon.

There is a lot of ruin in a country, but I don't think there's a century's worth.

If shit goes *really* sideways, we might be looking at 10 years left, but I doubt it. I think it keeps lumbering along for longer than that. I'm more inclined toward a 30-40 year assumption for now. One of the things that keeps stuff together is the "glue" of tradition and national meaning and perceptions. Trump is a great example of this in that he *still* plays by the rules, even though his persecutors clearly do not. He does so because he has to - being a peaceable American and all that it implies is part of his identity.

This component of identity is less strong with each subsequent generation, but it's still there. It's weakest in the Zoomers, and will likely be *extremely* weak - maybe even gone - with their children. The final collapse may happen with the Zoomers, but I think it's more likely to happen with their kids. So 30-40 years before the echo-Zoomers are old enough.

Eggs last a crazy long time, but I'm sure there are liability (as well as grocery store stocking and re-stocking contracts) that put the "use in one week" dates on them. Unwashed eggs in a cool, dry place can last for six or seven months.

Crack it into a separate cup if you're uncertain, but I wouldn't think twice about it.

I plowed through a book "Return of the Gods" by Jonathan Cahn. The premise is that since Christ's earthly ministry the traditional Ba'al, Morloch, Ishtar gods have been shelved, but (for unclear reasons) are returning in the form of social pathologies and dysfunctions. (e.g. sodomy, greed, pr0n, child exploitation, abortion, etc.)

I think that Cahn was reluctant to point to modern day actual temples of Isis and worshipping of physical idols, but with this clear and continued religious reference to "Climate Change" as an active, punitive, personal god of localized weather and calamity, it appears that we are just a carved image away from reconstructing those "This Age" (the age before 70AD) gods and orders of worship.

Yes.

Eggs are awesome. If you keep the refrigerated, they will last a *long* time. More to the point, when eggs go bad, it's obvious. If you're remotely concerned, keep them separate. Crack it open and put them into separate bowls. Smell them before and after whipping them up (keeping them separate keeps a bad egg from contaminating the rest).

191 Thx JJ, Morning everyone. Yesterday I questioned prior to Biden landing in Maui, whether he would bring up climate change, Beau dying, MAGA, or his first wife and daughter dying. I was correct about the first wife and daughter but how long he babbled about that was astounding. I did not foresee him bringing up his minor house fire which in his addled brain has become the towering inferno. This man has to be removed via the 25th or Jill the horror show must convince him to resign. I realize this would leave the same murderous administration in place but at least the rest of the world could breathe a sigh of relief that Biden couldn't screw up worse

I disagree. For example, organizations like Disney, Target, and FoMoCo look like they have huge amounts of stored wealth. In actual fact, all three are starting to collapse and are unlikely to exist 5 years from now. Many that are weaker will go before they do.

197 I was getting some grocery supplies last night in the nearest market to me, a nine mile slide off the mountain, and a curvy six downstream along the river, to the tiny old tired mill town that was part of the ironmaking biz at the time of the revolution.

Included was a six pack of sour ale, and the young girl at checkout, she and I the only people in the store, asked my birthday. I told her, then looked her in the eyes, me smiling, her waiting, for a fun pause as she waited for the year.

I told her. It was the year of D-day, a month and a half after the big show at Normandy. I said it was a long long time ago.

She surprised me and said she thought it must have been a far better time than what we have now. I said yeah, I was far too young to realize it, but fighting two immense forces of evil, and realizing victory might really be possible, had the whole country thinking and acting together. No divisions. One huge common effort.

198 One of the reasons often cited for "no" on Trump in 2024 is that even if he wins, 'they' won't let him do anything.

2016 was Nagasaki.
Trump winning in 2024 will be Hiroshima.

Which is to say, for Trump to win, there has to be complete and total destruction of the current order-- the red wave necessary to beat the fraud will wipe out all but the safest of safe Dems. They will literally be holdouts on remote islands of blue in an ocean of red.

Would it be the same if DeSantis wins? Of course. If you can locate the coalition of DeSantis voters animated enough to sweep up 82 million votes.... So far, DeSantis hasn't found them either ... in fact, he's actively--stupidly--antagonizing better than 30 million of those he desperatly will need.

No one is going to out Trump, Trump. It would have dumber for DeSantis to try, than to attempt to get some more center voters.

I think his biggest mistep was that he didn't expect Trump fans to be such crybabies that they'd exactly mimic the Never Trumpers.

The big problem is the party is in a tough spot because of Trump's legal troubles. If DeSantis didn't run, and Trump gets jailed or somehow barred from running, what were we going to do, elect Pence or Christie?

DeSantis needs to be in the race as a 2nd choice, as he needs convention delegates to justify being nominated if Trump can't run. Unfortunately Trump's deranged ego, and the somewhat growing disturbing trend of his supporters, can't see that, and are attempting to destroy the only viable Trump alternative incase things go bad before the primaries.

I think this is a big part of the separation.

I suspect most Trump supporters recognize that the nation is in trouble because of what the sitting president, placed there in a coup, is doing to the president who won re-election in a landslide and who watched every failsafe fail in defense of the republic.

It has nothing to do with Trump, and candidates carrying on like it's 2004 or 2008 or 2012 and things are back to the rigged elections we were always spoon fed as "normal" is a big part of the disconnect.

I couldn't really care less about Trump (although I loved his booming economy and world peace), but mainly he's the only one who seems to even occasionally behave like the republic is at stake.

241 "The use of the term ‘far right’ and ‘populist’ is a defamatory tool meant to delegitimize certain political opinions."

flip-side:

CNN: Republicans are masters of verbal jiu-jitsu. It’s a form of linguistic combat in which the practitioner takes a political phrase or concept popularized by their opponent and gradually turns into an unusable slur. Like the Japanese martial art known as jiu-jitsu, its devotees avoid taking opposing arguments head on and instead redirect their opponents’ momentum to beat them.

If this sounds abstract, consider the evolution of “ woke.” The word is defined as being “actively aware of social injustice.” But it has been transformed into a contemporary scourge, one that a politician compared to a “virus more dangerous than any pandemic, hands down.”

Mention almost any touchstone phrase adopted by the left in recent years — “critical race theory,” “diversity,” “global warming,” even the word “liberal” itself — and it has been redefined or tarnished by conservatives.

242 Good morning, JJ. Prescient as always.

There's one thing about our state of affairs going into 2024 that I believe you and nearly all commentators have not recognized, save one. John Daniel Davidson over at The Federalist put his finger on it, in an excellent article back on July 11 of this year. He addresses the Trump-Desantis divide and why this primary is not a business as usual affair, no matter how much the Republican Party wants it desperately to be.
Trump voters are still rightfully angry about the stolen election and all the related illegal activities that are still unpunished and most likely will remain unpunished, since so many Republicans seemed to have a hand in it and then did nothing to prevent it. This is what is impacting Desantis like a sledgehammer, as well as any other Republican candidate. They just can't keep saying "we'll get to the bottom of 2020" and then never make a damn effort to get to the bottom of it. On top of that, we get to see complicit Republicans advising, contributing and endorsing Desantis and view him (fairly or unfairly) as the bait-and-switch establishment candidate who insists we "move on" and forget what happened.
We won't forget. Ever.

People have always needed something larger to find meaning. This has almost always taken horrific forms. Christianity has proven to be the most benign and beneficial system ever created. It led to the rise of the West. We see the effects of its ebbing now.

Because there’s a giant hole in her case: the lack of a clear crime to which Trump and his co-defendants can plausibly be said to have agreed.
“There must be a meeting of the minds about the crime that is the objective of the conspiracy.” If there does not exist an agreement regarding the crime, a conspiracy does not exist.
The constitutional process dictates that Americans cannot be charged with a crime and forced to stand trial unless probable cause exists that a crime has been committed.

I agree with this. Low expectations has cost us $30T outright over the last few decades, and the same low expectations in schools has destroyed the potential of entire generations.

So yeah, I'm okay with that assessment.

318 A decade ago, I mistakenly took a "direct route" from Austin to Enchanted Rock park. The segment in question forded streams (no money for bridges) was largely unpaved and went by the most dilapidated housing not seen outside Indian reservations.

Upon emerging from the other side onto the highway, after driving mile after mile on beaten up rutted roads and seeing abject poverty, there was the best building in the entire county, with a paved parking lot - it was the local high school.

321 Trump's "legal troubles" are largely made up bullshit. It's not so much a prosecution as it is persecution. He's being hounded by the legal establishment because the left isn't quite ready to use deadly force on their opponents in the open.

Exactly my point above.

Look, hate on Trump all you want. 'Pussy,' Roma Romney, Fauci, mean tweets, all of that. Fine. I'll give you that. But Trump's personality is not what is at stake here, for fuck's sake! The left is doing something that has never been done in the history of the Republic (with the exception of the Alien and Sedition Acts) - arresting and imprisoning the losing candidate of an election who is also the putative head of the GOP.

If you cannot see that this is NOT about Trump, but about judging exactly how close the left is to preemptively removing - by legal, extralegal or deadly means - any challenger deemed insufficiently worshipful of Big Brother, then frankly, there's no hope for you.

You can make that case but it is difficult and his donors/managers make it worse by muddying issues like Ukraine, trade tariffs, etc. Trans issues/CRT/etc are a path to a governorship--not the Presidency.

From watching those horrible tsunami videos in Japan about 10 or so years ago,
I learned a valuable (and obvious once you think about it) survival lesson.
There were a lot of people trying to escape the areas where the tsunami was coming. The tsunami was as much as 10 meters or more in some areas. And -
as you might imagine the road away from the incoming tsunami was one big slow moving traffic jam.,

The road leading toward the tsunami was completely empty.

A few, very few, of the people driving away, jumped the median with their cars and drove away to safety on the in-going lane.

Minutes later the tsunami came in and probably killed every single polite, traffic law-abiding citizen in their cars.

That taught me that when survival is on the line. Fuck traffic laws/etc Priority one- getting your family out alive.

What we should be doing now is calling out and shaming the Desantis supporters who are just being assholes at this point. Desantis was always a stalking horse for the Billionaires and was never meant to actually win the general election. There is no way a 60 million vote republican is going to win a national race. The democrats wouldn't even have to cheat to beat him.

There are 2 types of Cruz supporters from 2016:

1. The people that learned from their mistake and realized Trump was the best president this country had since Lincoln.

2. The dumb assholes that supported McCain in 2008, Romney in 2012, Cruz in 2016,(Biden in 2020) and haven't learned a goddamn thing from their mistakes their entire life.

Among them: an end to the myriad criminal cases pending against former President Donald Trump (and the so-called “weaponization” of the Justice Department against conservatives), as well as ensured passage of a draconian immigration law and an amorphous demand to end “woke” policies in the U.S. military.

Sounds like more folks who should be worried about their own legal standing after aiding and abetting the attempted overthrow of our government.

What about the 14th amendment being applied to them? They are interfering with a government process. I also think that they should be indicted as co-conspirators with the criminal Trump gang.

Which is why competent emergency managers close the roads to inbound traffic and use all available lanes for outbound traffic. It rarely happens.

But yes, emergencies call for a suspension of rules. Sort it out later. This is why the Hawaii water bureaucracy raises so many eyebrows for me. Yes, Maui was kept waiting for five hours (reportedly) to authorize distribution of water for fire fighting. But why did fire fighters have to call Honolulu for permission when there was an active emergency? Why did the local commander not grab the water authority dude by the lapels and tell him to release the fucking water and he'd take responsibility?

Not really. It comes down to driving, as it always does. I suspect there is no meaningful difference between people tailgating and creeping and tapping the brakes through the lights than there would be if people left a car length and all began and maintained a similar low-speed movement through the intersection.

Brake lights are *always* what kills momentum, and it reverberates three to five cars back. Stay of off bumpers, stay off of brakes, and things move.

It's all academic, though. You can change the color of the moon before you can easily change the way people drive.

452 I'm canceling today, tomorrow, and Thursday. I got up this morning about 7:30 and the windows were thickly fogged. The humidity is 92 and the high for the next three days is going to be a little above 100°. Mercifully, I had only one medical appointment this week, and that was yesterday.

456 One of the best observations I've ever heard on driving:

If you notice that you change the way you drive when there's another car near you (especially a cop), then you probably need to think about how you're driving.

There is that as well. Whale donors on the right are more concerned with giving their money to the leftist institutions where they went to college than funding young conservatives to become lawyers.

462 One thing te: driving that drives (get it) me crazy…

There’s an intersection near me that has two left l turn lanes. Yet for som reason 80% of cars go to the furthest left lane. And because of that there is a backup of cars causing people in the back to miss the green arrow and have to wait a full light cycle to turn.

Why? Why do people refuse to use the second turn lane? It’s very well marked so it’s not like they don’t know it exists. Like people what the fuck is wrong with you?

463 435 It's Hawaii. If more that 2 Dems lose seats I will be shocked. If the ave Dem has 5% fewer votes than in their last election, same. Most people will forget of they weren't directly affected and the media does make a huge continuous deal about it, and the vast majority of the media won't. Even the media that does is going to have far much to report on than cover Hawaii continuous enough to shake the Dem voters out of their "must vote D".

464 September will be the warm up, October will be mandatory. That long lead up is required so that Secretaries of State have time to make mail in voting and other rules to break election laws again.

------------

I heard this the other day. I don't believe it, but then I couldn't believe we did it the first time, so anything's possible.

From driving on the highways, I'm convinced that-

50%+ of the drivers don't think anything at all about exiting the road they're on until about ten seconds or so from the exit or street turn.

Oh, and have no ability to learn their route even with repeated drives over the same ground.

The Democrats dumb down or erase all kinds of laws that get them in trouble.

FARA should be repealed too.
Why are Democrats so dumb?

How any big organization gets anything done is kind of a miracle. But big government doesn't have the profit motive helping it along, only inertia, so many things only get done by criminals trying to beat the system. My view, anyway.

471 Michael Cohen, who served as former President Trump’s personal attorney, called. the former president an “idiot” for not paying his alleged co-conspirators’ legal bills in the Georgia election case. Cohen questioned Monday why Trump would not pay the legal bills for his other codefendants who were indicted in Fulton County, Ga. — such as attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis. “Donald’s an idiot,” Cohen told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on “The Source.”

.. I believe it would be viewed as "witness tampering"

472 Ace and the Townhall Media gang are just having a hard time. Trump ducking the debate, which was sound strategy, was the straw that broke the camel's back.
DeSantis was a Twitter and right wing blog candidate - he never had a Base. And now he's also ruined his chances in 2028. Nice work all. Anyone with an IQ of 80 could have seen this coming.

473 "What is to be done"?

Federalism is the answer. With a little help from SCOTUS next term, I pray, the Congress must face up to the fact it created an illegitimate leviathan. The Administrative State is going to have to be sacrificed, and state governments will get larger in response. Taxes will need to stop being paid to Washington, and go to state legislatures instead.

474 I agree that Trump should not be the candidate in 2024. The first two years of his presidency were great, the last two were an absolute disaster, in large part because of Trump's ego and poor staffing choices. He jumped onboard for the very Covid hoax that was used to destroy small business and set up mail-in voting on a major scale. He also, even after the DNC explained, publicly, how they were going to "fortify the election," spent his time basking in adulation at large rallies rather than doing the hard work of preparing for the battle. It was heartbreaking to see how helpless Trump was after the election, they were a deer in the headlights. Those two factors alone tell me it's time for a change.

475 I'm surprised it took this long to cancel Fat Bottom Girls. Shame, it is a good song. However, I wonder if they will cancel MJ's "Hey pretty girl" as he refuses to take no for an answer or Jimi's "Joe" where some guy blows his girlfriend away because she messed around with someone else. There's many a song in which a girl/woman is killed because of some guy's inability to cope with his emotions. We could stand to lose a few of those type songs.

476 Since the next election is going to be rigged against Trump, why give the Democrats what they want by nominating Trump? In 2016 he was an unknown quantity the Democrats didn’t know how to deal with. 8 years later, he’s worse than known, he’s utterly predictable. They’ve spent the last 8 years demonizing him so much that at least half the country would rather vote for a brain dead vegetable.

Whoever the GOP nominate is going to have an uphill battle. Why not try a fresh new face that hasn’t been demonized for 8 years? If the odds of Trump winning the general are 1%, surely a non Trump who was a successful governor with an outstanding resume has a greater than 1% chance?

You know that the Democrats down to the lowliest poll worker will be more motivated to cheat if Trump is on the ballot. If their cheating worries you (and it should), that alone should motivate you to nominate someone else.

We need to do everything possible to win in 2024. Do you want four more years of this? The country won’t survive it. Winning the next election needs to be our number 1 priority, not giving Trump a shot at revenge. If nominating a non Trump gives us a better chance, we must pursue it.

477 Hi, all, and thank you, J.J.

This is it, the end, for conservative voters with the quest for time traveling backwards & pretending purity of party in thought, deed and, yes, membership. IMHO

Last night, MisHum put up the Politico article about crazy K's public image for 2024. Vox Dec '19, in part, "After a blockbuster debate performance in June, Sen. Kamala Harris shot up in the national polls, peaking at 15 percent voter support. Cut to five months later, and she’s announced her decision to drop out, after polling in the single digits....Harris didn’t do enough to fully capitalize on it." And yet, there she is - VP - going nowhere if not moved out with a nod from O.

The progressives need the Black vote - hell, conservatives need the Black/POC votes - and they'll twist 2020 & Trump and, yes, candidate DeSantis into anti-voting rights & race while using voting rights/race, healthcare, and what they also conjure up to give away or pretend they'll be doing (a tax on billionaires) 2024. "Bottom up, middle out" BS.

What's the plan? Debate Ron, Don, big Chris, and JFK Jr. ad nauseam? Get broader, deeper and friendlier & stop ignoring Vivek & some others.

Peace
