The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"I've got young kids and I don't want them breathing that in for years if we don't know if it could be detrimental to their health down the road, Adam Flaherty

Quote II

“It’s an absolute joke, and it would be considered an absolute joke by any responsible prosecutor. I would have kicked somebody out of my office who said that to begin with,” Sol Wisenberg

Quote III

“The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.” Vladimir Lenin

Quote IV

“Dear Cristina, I know how much you are in love with him mentally and sexually. And I know that before him you had a relationship with an industrialist acquaintance,” he disclosed of another alleged affair. “Don’t think it pleases me to look like a cuckold in front of all of you.” Millionaire Italian banker Massimo Segre

It is time to put this political persecution to an end. If I were Donald J. Trump, I would tell the State of Georgia, Fuck off and extradite me. I'm not showing up in Atlanta and I sure as hell won't give up my 1st Amendment Rights. Fuck off!

A state judge in Georgia on Monday issued an order that limited what former President Donald Trump can say on social media about his case.

Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee signed an order that bars Trump from contacting any of the 18 co-defendants in the case except through their attorneys. Also, the order “bans the former president from intimidating co-defendants or witnesses in the case, including through posts on social media,” The Hill reported.

Perhaps if the "Senior Management Team" were doing its job, they wouldn't be beleaguered.

'More than 1,500' artefacts were stolen from British Museum, internal investigation reportedly reveals
A Unesco antiquities trafficking expert says the theft is "probably the worst case so far"

The total number of artefacts allegedly taken by curator Peter Higgs is thought to be “closer to 2,000”, a source told The Daily Telegraph.

The number of items allegedly taken from the British Museum’s collection by the senior curator Peter Higgs is thought to total more than 1,500 separate artefacts, according to an internal investigation conducted by the museum and reportedly seen by The Daily Telegraph.

Higgs, the museum’s curator of Greek collections, Greek sculpture and the Hellenistic period, was last week named by The Daily Telegraph and The Times newspapers as the prime suspect behind the disappearance of a host of artefacts held in the museum’s collection, many of which he is alleged to have sold on eBay, often for a tiny percentile of their estimated value. One Roman object, dating back more than two millennia and valued at up to £50,000, was allegedly sold for £40 on the e-commerce site.

Higgs is alleged to have removed items from the collection, without detection and for many years, with artefacts from the collection appearing on eBay as far back as 2016. The total number of artefacts allegedly taken by Higgs is thought to be “closer to 2,000”, a source told The Daily Telegraph.

Higgs was dismissed earlier this year and has not as yet been arrested, although the Metropolitan police have confirmed they are investigating. Higgs's family has denied the allegations against him.

The sheer number of artefacts taken from the museum’s collection will heap further pressure on a beleaguered senior leadership team, including Hartwig Fischer, the museum’s outgoing director.

Oh wonderful! It is Face Diaper time again in California.

Major Hollywood Studio Gives Employees Bad News, Brings Back Mask Mandate

Major Hollywood movie studio Lionsgate brought back the mask mandate for nearly half of the company’s employees at its main office at 2700 Colorado Ave. in Santa Monica.

The change was announced by Sommer McElroy, Response Manager for Lionsgate/Starz, in an email, to employees.

The email said: “Employees must wear a medical grade face covering (surgical mask, KN95 or N95) when indoors except when alone in an office with the door closed, actively eating, actively drinking at their desk or workstation, or if they are the only individual present in a large open workspace.”

Reason #43 I stopped donating to the GOP.

“I intend to sue the RNC to halt Wednesday’s presidential debate,” Elder wrote in a tweet. “I said from the beginning that it appeared the rules of the game were rigged, little did we know just how rigged it is. For some reason, the establishment leaders at the RNC are afraid of having my voice on the debate stage. Just as I had to fight to successfully be on the ballot in the California recall election, I will fight to be on that debate stage because I fully met all of the requirements to do so.”

Living at Casa Misanthrope has its benefits. One of those benefits is not being in a HOA. Do HOAs just make up shit as they go along or is this pretty much standard?

Homeowner devastated by HOA’s bizarre and restrictive new vehicle ban: ‘It’s my only way to work’

A homeowner shared their struggles with their HOA after it banned e-bikes and other forms of transportation.

In a recent post on the r/HOA subreddit, a user explained the conflict that their HOA has created for their commute.

“It’s my only way to work,” the user wrote in their caption.

A teenager died Sunday in a wild crash after fleeing from police in Belchertown on Sunday night, according to authorities.

Massachusetts State Police troopers tried to stop a car at 8:45 p.m. on Route 202, but the vehicle sped away, police said. The vehicle was being operated erratically and failed to stay within marked lanes, according to State Police spokesman David Procopio.

The driver, a 19-year-old New Hampshire man, ran a red light at the intersection with Route 9 and crashed into a mulch bed and the car became airborne, police said.

As Mamma Mis Hum would say, "I guess he won't be doing that again."

64 I am one of the worst Morons when it comes to bitching about how ****ed up we are given our 'leaders' and modern culture and there is no hope anymore. But, R. and I experienced a thing today lending evidence to the idea that we are still a great county and a great place to live:

To wit: We bought a car today. A new one. Even though I am/was firmly against that course but for reasons I won't go into, we pulled that trigger.

The car has not yet been built but, it is in the manufacturing pipeline and scheduled for built tomorrow. The color/trims/and optional equipment already selected by the manufacturer was what we were looking for so there you go. The chassis will hit the assembly line sometime tomorrow morning, be fully completed by mid-afternoon, tested by evening and on a car transport by Thursday with delivery scheduled to the dealer by Fri/Sat.

My undergrad was in Production and Operations Mgt. I understand how this shit works yet, I am just blown away that even a manufacturing behemoth can pull this off in today's world.

So in this case there is some rational thought

I had to do some big round of paperwork there as well. None of it was physical. It was all electronic on a tablet. They have me "e-signature" on file somehow.

The lady there had preselected a lot of options. One of those options she selected, without being asked, was "no shots". No inoculations unless explicitly authorized. That surprised me.

She said, well a lot of folks are doing that. She gets it. I said no "mRNA" or experimental stuff. She nodded vigorously.

That gives me hope. At least here, these folks know the score.

The union representing 340,000 UPS workers said Tuesday that its members voted to approve the tentative contract agreement reached last month, putting a final seal on contentious labor negotiations that threatened to disrupt package deliveries for millions of businesses and households nationwide.

The Teamsters said in a statement that 86% of the votes casts were in favor of ratifying the national contract. They also said it was passed by the highest vote for a contract in the history of the Teamsters at UPS.

143 The beef I have with the subject of Bill Burr's rant is that it's fun and easy to blame "management" or whatever for corporate dysfunction, but it's a very myopic position that ignores the reality of how the system really works. Yeah, sure, C-level types make a lot of money but most of the non-COGS revenue either gets pissed away on make-work head office jobs or goes directly or indirectly back to investors which includes all the old people's all important 401(k) and/or pension nest eggs.

We've got a situation where The People(tm) simultaneously own everything and nothing, thanks in large part to herd mentality. Yeah, it's pretty busted. And it's why the coming debt crisis will lay waste to the entire Western economic system.

To a corpo, it means low to mid level executives and cube farmers. To a member of the state apparatus, it means bureaucrats and professors. It's a bullshit trope that assholes like to hide behind because it's easier and lazier than actually defining their position.

We did get ours at less than sticker - again, it's not like the old days but we were happy when we walked out.

I tried a new, to me, thing this time around. When I walked in and talked to the receptionist, I asked her to connect me with the salesman whom she would direct her mother to use. I mean, who knows if it helped me or not, but the buying experience was pretty good.

But yeah, the 4Runners? Fagetaboutit!!

162 149: you are in an increasingly hate-filled Marxist country where being an individual is frowned upon and everyone must be pigeonholed by race, sex, who they do/don’t fuck, when they were born, etc. So as much as I agree with you, we are stuck.

And my favorite term is “working class”. It’s perfect for an increasingly Marxist country like this one. It implies that rich people (who are inherently evil) never work. Never mind, as I explained to a college class once, that very few people DON’T work and that in truth “working class” is just about everyone, including hyper-evil rich people.

I remember reading something amusing about admirals in the old days, pre WWII at least. Congress used to be very stingy about admirals. Didn't want too many of those demanding high salaries and thinkin they were all that.

So, they had a lot captains who really did the job of admirals, rear and that level. But since they were only Captains, they got pissed because their Royal Navy and other foreign counterparts wouldn't give them the proper respect/honors and all that.

* Karen, Andy, Trevor, and all their friends who have no valuable skills and are just barely kept from burning shit down most of the time by being Deputy Assistant Butt Pimple in Woke Inc's social media department and aspiring to work hard and someday get promoted to Assistant Butt Pimple.
* Younger people who do have valuable technical skills but followed in the said boomers' path of delayed gratification, and as a consequence don't own very much despite theoretically making a lot of dough.

Teldar Paper has 33 different vice presidents each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do, and I still can't figure it out. Hell reading a bit, the rank of admiral has a funny, interesting history.

Congress originally didn't want to create any admirals at all. Captain was the highest naval rank. the *title* (not rank) of commodore became sort of a status symbol.

Eventually Congress created the rank of "Flag Officer". And then after the Civil War, the first admirals were created.

195 Burr identifies a lot of genuine problems but misses the causes. To his credit he did notice inflation but that's from hugely reckless monetary and fiscal policy - while there is a connection to corporate greed in that most of that money is spent as graft to corporate cronies, FedGov does that. Of course other factors such as women entering the workplace in droves, unbridled illegal immigration driving down wages, and globalization for the use of fucking slave labor to make everything also drives income down to where the one-income family doesn't work like it used to. Also educational inflation and housing inflation, brought to you by government and other institutional fuckery.

These "cottages" are nice. They have a kitchen in each cottage. They prepare the food right there in each "cottage". They think this gives a "homey" environment. You know, smelling food cooking and all that.

Anyway, when I first got there, I wheeled Daddy back into his room, to close the door where I could set up so my mother could talk to him over the speakerphone.

His attention just wouldn't stay with me. He had to get out and putter. Finally, I just grabbed the wheelchair and held him until I got my mother. That got his attention for a little more, but it was a comedy of mishearing, with my hollering in his ear, and hollering in the phone, repeating what each said to the other.

Once we hung up, he immediately putters to the door. I watch. He manages to get the door open, and reverse himself and finally get through the opening. On the way out, he noticed his cap on the dresser, and picked that up and put it on. He was going out.

And round in circles we would go.

There is a lot of stuff to bitch about re: Ukraine, but if you want to be taken seriously then anything from MacGregor is not a good place to start if you don't want to look like an idiot.

The catalog of his video titles going back the last year and a half pretty much speaks for itself.

Not sure if he's genuinely shilling for the Russians, or just Pied-Pipering gullible conservatives on behalf of domestic leftists - since the latter is one of the rather well-planned benefits of this whole prog war project. The Western progs wanted this war, because they're evil; China wanted this war, because they're shrewd; and Russia wanted it because they're fucking retarded. Pretty much the only ones who didn't want it was Eastern Europe and Ukraine.

So now the US, as directed by the Biden admin, who is by far the largest source of aid to Ukraine, drags their feet as much as they feel they can without it being too obvious because they want to drag this out as long as possible - while China somewhat similarly leaves Russia hanging, because they'd love to see either a Russian breakup or a military black eye for the West.

248 I have discovered this week, after being reamed out by my boss's boss last Friday (by email, no less, and then he left town), that not giving one hot damn about my job is proving to be rather cathartic. I am not actively sabotaging anything, but I'm not hustling either, nor do I intend to put in extra hours, push anyone to meet a deadline, or even worry about not filing all the pointless paperwork to document that I have done my job.

It's not like I would get a promotion if I did, and if I can be chewed out for doing my job, no questions asked or facts established, then I might as well not care much if it gets done or not.

Ever wonder why some folks go postal? Caring past the limits of backstabbing asshats and incoherent imbeciles. So, I don't care.

Boss told me a few weeks ago not to get so upset about things. I can only do so if I don't care. So, that's my plan.

Let's take a field where I have some experience - medical records.

Oh, you might say - electronic medrecs have changed everything. But no. In my line of work (workers comp) we gathered medical records for independent medical exams. The insurance companies gathered up records and copied even copies of records and scanned ev'rythang just to make sure they had it all.

We would print them out and sort through them and toss tens of thousands of pages (actually pay to shred them) and tab them so the docs could review them quickly (doctors will not read hundreds of pages of e-records, you know). Then pay to ship them to the doctors offices.

At this point, I'm resigned to things. It is what it is. My father has lived a full life, as they say. The sun is now setting. Not one of us gets off the rock alive.

A difference now, one Miley and I were talking about, is medicine has (up until the crazy of late) done pretty good at keeping the physical body going. But the brain and mind are going to go.

In the not so distant past, something would've got Daddy before he got to this point of mental decline. But he's made it to 95, and his mind has just worn out.

Short of utter and complete cremation, a 200 lb. male fire victim in a total residential flash-over, burn to the ground conflagration, might appear to the untrained eye, as a scorched, hairless, 40 lb. pet.

A 90 lb. child, maybe a scorched, blackened, 20 lb. Westie.

There' going to be a LOT of gruesome. And MANY, already seen, who get seen AGAIN, and finally the sifters will realize, "that was Human", and not a pet.

A whole lot of the "missing", were already passed by, needing but yet to be SEEN, by the searchers.

According to the nurses there, Daddy is not in distress. He's not agitated, not upset. Just let hum putter around like that, and he's okay.

Eating. Up until the last he always had a good appetite. He'd eat a bait of what you put on his plate. With the latest episode of severe diverticulitis (and UTI) which led to him falling and off to the hospital, and now this, that appetite had declined.

Nurses say now sometimes he'll eat big, clean up his plate, but sometimes he won't eat much. But, on the bright side, he's getting constant exercise, such as it is, puttering around, using his feet to move himself in the wheelchair.

Why does it feel like "the left" is trying everything they can think of to light off a civil war? If it will annoy the majority of people, they will try it. It makes no strategic sense, and if they think they control enough power to win such a thing, why don't they just start it themselves?

Dig through the alarmism and you'll find that in the US, BA.2.86 was found in one asymptomatic person and one guy with a very mild illness.

And while EG.5 is the dominant strain in the US right now and doctors are seeing more patients with Covid, their symptoms are milder than at any previous point in the pandemic.

Which tells me that what's out there is even less nasty than Omicron was.

A Chicago woman was arrested on Monday on charges of emailing threats to shoot Donald Trump and his youngest son Barron Trump, the US attorney’s office in the Illinois city said.

A formal complaint was filed against Tracy Marie Fiorenza, 41, earlier this month in the US district court for the southern district of Florida.

“I will state that I will shoot Donald Trump Sr AND Barron Trump straight in the face at any opportunity I get!” Fiorenza allegedly wrote in an email in May, according to the complaint.

The email was sent to the unidentified head of an educational institution in Palm Beach county, southern Florida, where Trump has his primary residence, the Mar-a-Lago resort, club and residence complex in Palm Beach.

Very surprising. Databases of customer/employee names, password-protected, is what I'm seeing in day-to-day life.

369 Up a little ahead of the alarm to work out. On the good side, I think my boss is off to Nebraska for the rest of the week. He never tells me, but it's on his calendar. Of course it could be nothing but Chinese Spyware meetings, but if he's gonna do that, why would he come into the office?

It means I can probably tiptoe out of the office a little early the next few days.

370 oes anyone remember way back during the 70's, it was claimed that rolling out computers to all aspects of the business would cut down on paperwork to the point of have it vanish?'

I also remember the perceived wisdom that being "in computers," programming especially, was going to be a solid career that would be recession- and layoff-proof. Businesses were only going to need more computers, and computers would always need techs and programmers.

Ha. To be fair, that was probably true until the late '90s (when I actually did get into the field for a few years).

"Now, remember, when things look bad, and it looks like you're not gonna make it, you gotta get mean. I mean plumb mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head, and you give up, then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is."
