Wet Dogs Cafe

italianvilla.jpg
An Italian villa

Chillin.

I don't know what this cat is doing and I don't want to know.

Disney's recycled animation.

Ailing baby elephant comes through.

An architectural illusion -- the long spiral ramp isn't moving, just the people are.

The process of stop motion animation is itself stop motion animated.

White supremacist birds.

Tearing a car apart for scrap. More interesting than it sounds.

Matchmaking factory. I mean, they make matches. I mean, they make actual matches. Oh whatever it's not that great anyway.

I need one of these for my pickle jars.

Holy crap it's Monday again!

Dude Mount Everest is a trashpile.

Elephant march.

Video catches all the various wild animals visiting bowls of food during the night. It gets more interesting towards the end.

Indonesian cave-penguin enjoying a banana.

-------------
We didn't have homegrown cartoons but there were children's shows like "The Friendly Giant", "Mr Dressup", and the "Hilarious House of Frightenstein" that featured humorous vignettes by Vincent Price, and some science shows.

And when I was a child before uncontrolled immigration post-1968 [like you and 1965] we had an Irish music show with the Irish Rovers band; a German music show -- mainly polka; an English music and entertainment show "The Pig and Whistle"; and a Scottish music program. I don't feel like spending 20 minutes to remember the names right now.

Also folk and country & western music shows.

There are 2 tracks IMSA races at near me in Babylon Bee. Well, not really near but drivable. Virginia Int Raceway (4 hours, no GTP though) and Watkins Glen (about 6 hours north). WG would be the one I'm interested in visiting at some point. It's a 6 hour race and that area looks beautiful. Might rent an RV at some point and make a week of it up there. Damn, lived in Orange County for 10 years and always associated "Laguna Seca" with the "Laguna Beach" area. After a quick search:

It's in Central CA near Salinas & Monterey, and "the track is an 11-turn, 2.238 mile road course, best known for The Corkscrew, a one-of-a-kind turn in motorsports: In total, the course drops 59 feet between the entrance of Turn 8 to the exit of Turn 8A — the equivalent of a 5½ story building — in only 450 feet of track length."

‘Anti-Vampire’ Device Found In Child’s Grave From 17th Century, Officials Say

It was to prevent sleepy creepy joe from sniffing that child’s neck

https://tinyurl.com/45fz3k2f

||Around four centuries ago, an intriguing burial practice was carried out in a Polish cemetery involving a young child. Archaeologists have now uncovered these remains, which could provide insights into the superstitious beliefs that once gripped Europe.

This revelation comes from a news release by Nicolaus Copernicus University on July 28. The unearthed 17th-century grave is situated in an ancient cemetery near the village of Dąbrowa Chełmińska.

The child’s partial skeleton, aged between 5 and 7, was discovered in an upside-down position beneath layers of soil. By placing the child face down, those responsible for the burial aimed to restrict any movement, preventing it from harming the living in case of an unlikely ‘Vampire’ revival.||

The last ski resort still open because of kLImaTe ChANge closed for skiing yesterday. The snow stuck around till August. In California. Watched a golf tournament that was near Lake Tahoe (not the celebrity one). They were digging out of snow in June. The course was on the California side. Weird. I was assured by 'experts' that snowfalls were a thing of the past.

The cacti 'pads' turn those pretty colors due to cold... it doesn't get *cold* until end of Jan, beginning of Feb.
The we can get freezes and rarely the white stuff all over the place.

207 Those look like great matches! American wooden matches are treated with flame-suppressants that make them almost worthless. It's hard to get the wood to burn.

I have some boxes of matches from West Africa (Guinea and Liberia) that are practically explosive, like the American matches of my childhood. The heads explode and the wood burns like crazy. Today's American matches are designed to fail, lest someone get hurt.
