Quick Hits

August will have a couple of heavy hanging swollen moons this month. The first was last night, but the full moon stays full-ish for a day or two. The next, a so-called "supermoon" (so called because the term gets a lot of clicks online), will be on Aug. 30-31.

Get ready, skywatchers: A sturgeon supermoon is coming Tuesday, and a rare super blue moon will appear Aug. 30-31.

Up first: the sturgeon supermoon. The moon will reach its peak illumination at 2:32 p.m. EDT Tuesday, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. After sunset that evening, turn your gaze to the southeast to catch a glimpse of the rising sturgeon moon.

The sturgeon moon was named for the large fish in the Great Lakes, which were most easily caught at this time of the year.

August also will see a rare super blue moon....

When the moon's orbit brings it closer to Earth than usual, the cosmic combo is called a supermoon.

When this happens, the moon can appear slightly bigger and brighter than normal.

"Different publications use slightly different thresholds for deciding when a full moon is close enough to the Earth to qualify as a supermoon," NASA said. "Because the orbit of the moon is not a perfect circle, the moon is sometimes closer to the Earth than at other times during its orbit."

On average, supermoons appear about 7% bigger and about 15% brighter than a typical full moon.

Looks like I'll have to bring The Lads out for August 30:

Disney-owned and abortion-crazy ABC "News" asked Kamala Harris the hard questions: Does she feel that White People are failing to position her for success, or nah?

And also: how awesome is abortion through the last hour of the last day through the last term of pregnancy? Pretty darned awesome, really!

During a much-hyped exclusive interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, ABC News Live Prime host Linsey Davis lobbed softballs and failed to ask a single hard-hitting question. It was exactly the kind of interview that you would expect ABC to give to a Democrat. The most absurd moment came when Davis asked Harris if she was unpopular with voters because of her race and sex.

Acting like an abortion advocate, Davis's first question right off the bat was an attempt to tee up Harris to advocate for the slaughter of more innocent babies: "You just hosted this conversation about protecting reproductive freedom. What does this mean to you personally?"

You could be forgiven if you aren't aware of the leftist lingo for abortion, which the left calls "reproductive freedom." Now that we have our English-to-leftist dictionary out, Harris responded by crying that killing more babies is "about understanding that a fundamental freedom for the women of America has been attacked."

"When I think about this issue and the fact that the highest court in our land just took a constitutional right that had been recognized from the women of America and, what that has meant in terms of depriving them of autonomy over their own bodies," Harris cried.

Next, Davis fretted that the pro-aborts like Harris and herself could be losing the abortion fight.

...

Finally, Davis told Harris that "there are reports that say that you have the lowest approval rating of any Vice President," she then asked her "How much of a role, if any, that you feel race and gender play in that?"

"Well, there are polls that also say I have great approval ratings," Harris responded.

A real journalist would have asked her to name one. Unfortunately, Davis isn't a real journalist and this wasn't a serious interview.

Video at the link. White Men may be failing to Position Kamala Harris for Success, but boy howdy, leftwing black women pretending to be "reporters" are damnsure doing their best!

Justin Trudeau is separating from his wife of 18 years in order to spend more time with his Mistress.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, announced Wednesday that they are separating after 18 years of marriage.

The two said in statements posted on Instagram that they made the decision after ''many meaningful and difficult conversations.'' A statement from the prime minister's office said they both have signed a legal separation agreement.

Trudeau, the 51-year-old scion of one of Canada's most famous politicians, was sworn into office in 2015. Sophie Trudeau is a former model and TV host. The couple were married in 2005. Together, they brought star power to the prime minister's office and appeared in the pages of Vogue magazine.

An immigrant NYC cabbie was beaten on the street by Mostly Peaceful Youths and then saw the thugs immediately released.

A struggling immigrant cabbie and married dad of two who was savagely beaten by a group of brutes in Midtown told The Post on Friday he's appalled that two suspects were let go with a slap on the wrist.

Taxi driver Afzal Butt, 60 -- who suffered chest, neck and face injuries in the shocking Manhattan caught-on-camera beat-down -- blasted New York's lenient bail-reform laws as a "horrible system" after a pair of his alleged assailants were issued a desk-appearance ticket and allowed to walk free.

"If they're not going to put them behind bars, this is a horrible system," fumed the cabbie, who emigrated to the US from Pakistan and has been driving a taxi since 2004. "I am hopeless and helpless with this system."

Butt said the city is going to hell in a handbasket regarding crime.

"Send the mayor the video and tell him die with the shame," the cabbie said.

...

Butt had been pulling over to clean up food that an unrelated crew of scooter drivers tossed into his car when the group accused him of nearly hitting them, he said.

"They were walking by and saying that I was going to run over them," he said. "I was just trying to clean my car.

"Then this lady and this boy started breaking my side window. She broke it. They started assaulting me," he said, adding that three more people joined in.

It was a Mostly Peaceful Violent Shakedown.

"They were all hitting me and kicking me, everywhere on my body, my face," Butt said.

Disturbing video footage shows three women and two men punching the cabbie and hitting him with a shoe as he falls to the ground.

Butt is then seen cowering next to his car and covering his face as a woman continues to kick him.

"My eye socket was swollen. I was dizzy and lightheaded," the victim said.

"There's so much pain in my neck. I still can't move my neck. My arms, my knees, my hips. My chest felt like I was getting pressure on my chest. So much pain."

Mayor Eric Adams will probably just pay these Social Justice Protesters $10,000 for bringing our attention to the important problem of this immigrant not yet having his face stomped in by violent brutes.

New York City has agreed to pay more than $13 million -- or nearly $10,000 each -- to demonstrators who were arrested or beaten by cops during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests over the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.

The proposed class-action settlement, which still needs to be approved by a judge, would be one of the most expensive payouts awarded in connection with a mass arrest lawsuit in history, according to experts.

The agreement, filed in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday, would award most of the approximately 1,300 plaintiffs who were arrested or subjected to force by police about $10,000 each, according to their attorneys.

Fat ugly misandrist cow Anita Sarkesian is finally shutting down her long-forgotten man-hating, man-shaming grifter site, "Feminist Frequency." She used this site to accuse every videogame making games with a male audience in mind of deliberately "excluding" women, or of "encouraging violence" against women. She then parlayed these attacks into high-paying gigs "consulting" video game companies (and Twitter!) about how to avoid "violence to women" and remake themselves to be "more welcoming to women."

Her grift stopped making big money years ago. Now she throws in the towel.

She says she is "exhausted," and also financially strapped due to her long struggle with Stage IV Resting Bitch Face.

After fourteen years of disingenuity and constant grifting, infamous video game activist Anita Sarkeesian has officially announced that she will be terminating her anti-'sexism in video games' organization Feminist Frequency.

The shuttering of Feminist Frequency's doors was first announced on August 1st via a blog post published by Sarkeesian to the organization's official website.

"With my heart stuffed full of a million different emotions, today I share the news with you that Feminist Frequency is closing," began the activist's farewell message. "Our staff and Board members have done so much to help me prepare to make this announcement today, but it still feels like taking a deep breath and jumping off a diving board to communicate this message to the countless people who have turned to Feminist Frequency, supported our work, and buoyed me up over the past fourteen years."

Anita Sarkesian has previously opined that literally "everything is sexism" and violence against women.

Also, bonus: Everything is also racist.

You're not going to believe this, but Affirmative Action Justice Ketanji Jackson-Brown included another huge error in her affirmative action dissenting opinion. (Which might be a clue why affirmative action is catastrophic for society.)

Ketanji Jackson-Brown included a claim that we need black doctors, even those of dubious qualification pumped through the system only for purposes of affirmative action, because black patients have problems with pain and white doctors can't help them with that.

The only problem was: The study never said, as Ketanji Jackson-Brown claims, that black doctors do any better at amelioriating black patients' pain than white doctors. The study only said that black patients have hard-to-cure pain.

The rest Ketanji Jackson-Brown just hallucinated. Or, at least, the American Medical Association hallucinated it, when they first made the claim in an amicus brief on the case. (Amicus briefs are "friend of the court" briefs submitted by outsiders who are not part of the case, but who claim that they will be affected by the outcome of the case, or have some special insight that the court will want to be apprised of.)

Meanwhile, the Democrats are ramming another one of Biden's incompetent affirmative action Woke Judges through.

Affluent White Female Liberals -- the well-dubbed AWFLs -- benefit from affirmative action, too, of course, despite women now being at parity or above in many professions. White liberal women continue claiming to be "minorities" in colleges, for example, despite now being something close to 60% of the college population.

39 In the civil law attorneys are not to supposed to engage in "action splitting" i.e. releasing multiple lawsuits over time involving the same parties, which of course can be abused to multiply litigation burdens.

Yet criminal prosecutors seem unburdened by such concerns, and bring with them the limitless resources of the State to crush Defendants. Even on paper, prosecutorial ethics are as loose as a Kardashian bunghole.

Although laws at this point are a band aid for a loss of consensus in Constitutional and American values in the elite class, a decent start would be an explicit limitation of a lot of prosecutorial power, and harsh criminal penalties for intentional prosecutorial misconduct.

Zeleny asked the President what he surprised him, enchanted him, troubled him, and humbled him about the office during these first 100 days. Obama interrupted Zeleny partway through his question so he could write it down, a move that elicited laughter from the press corps, especially when Zeleny repeated his query about what "enchanted" him.

99 Feminist Frequency was never profitable, it was just a way for Sarkeesian to get publicity so she could demand woke video game companies pay her 'consulting' fees to show up and say how awful their sexist game was.

Feminist Frequence never made money, but Sarkeesian PERSONALLY made a huge amount of money off woke virtue signalers paying her to abuse them, or a bunch of woke video game cons paying her to show up on a panel that nobody watched.

And by them paying SARKEESIAN, personally, rather than Feminist Frequency, it let Sarkeesian pay her idiot woke SJW crusaders slave wages and eventually stop paying them at all, claiming that it never made money. Of course it didn't - SHE was getting paid, not Feminist Frequency.

107 Enron was a spectacular fraud that went bankrupt. The feds sued Arthur Andersen, the outside auditor. The only thing they could come up with is an inside lawyer had sent an internal memo telling those who worked on Enron to "clean your files." This was before any subpeona issued and before the feds told them to preserve records.

The feds charged AA with obstruction for this, and the jury found them guilty. SCOTUS later reversed 9 to 0.

Cold comfort, because AA automatically lost its licenses in the interim and went out of business. It was once one of the Big Eight. 20,000 lost jobs.

I bring this up, because the feds are bringing charges against Trump that will almost certainly be knocked out by SCOTUS, but he can't wait. The process is the punishment.
