First-World Problems...

ice weirdness.jpg

I have absolutely no idea what is going on! Why would the upward pressure on one of the six sections be so much greater than the other five?

Is there some worm hole that has changed the laws of physics on one shelf of my freezer? Is this BIG ICE getting their revenge on me for finally cracking their code?

12 Was is filled from the tap? Perhaps that was the first cube you filled, followed by the rest. There is usually more dissolved gas/air in the water when you first open the tap. More air trapped in the water could cause go expand more while freezing, possibly.

Sort of the opposite of a FWP, but more positive. Have you ever had someone do a service for you and you were so happy with the way they handled it that you gave them all your business afterwards?

I've had two. The first time my well went out I called a well service to come out a look at it. The owner called me back and walked me through the actually simple steps of what I needed to do to get it going again. Not only do they do our maintenance now, but we had them install a water-treatment system for us.

Another was one of those storefront postal centers. We had a bunch of documents that needed to be not just notarized but witnessed. We told the owner what we needed. He looked at us for a second and said, "Come back in two hours." He had the witnesses we needed, who also notarized the documents. They now get all of our office business, mailings and business cards.

61 So here's a first world problem. I have two Kubota tractors, a 1990 vintage and 2020 vintage. Posted by: Indignacio Vindacatorem

Biden isn't doing shit. The WEF wants the US on its knees. Their lackeys and cohorts in the fed gov are giving what they want.
Our world standing is being destroyed, our "moral" authority is being destroyed, our currency is being destroyed and on and on. Because WEF wants to rule the world and we have ,at best, weak leaders or, at worst, anti American operatives in charge.
WEF wants a feudal society where they rule and everyone else is one of three things....
Servant
Serf
Slave.
That's why they want to eliminate a huge portion of the global population. They can't control this many people spread out around the world. Reduce the population and confine everyone to Europe (it's the only civilized place you know) and lah-di-dah-di everbody dance!

107 60: a gun shop that shall remain nameless. I calculated down to the penny of sales tax how much it would cost to get a particular firearm. Why? Because I was paying in cash, not with a debit/credit card because some assholes ache to do the government’s bidding and wants to be the Stasi. Fuck them.

Ah, but unfortunately, there was a shipping cost I did not factor in so I came up short! The gun shop says “no prob”, especially when they heard my rationale for paying in cash.

They will get more business from me in the future.

There is a certain class of blog commentator that exhibit mental conditions toward others on the blog in their interactions whether it is inappropriate rage, threats, fixation on doxxing, disrupting (cut and paste troll-cannot remember it that was attributed to bsg or not), or otherwise trying to destroy whatever blog and its commentators viewed by the perp who rejected them.

175 Ciampino's electric dryer PART 1
Friday the tech hired by American Home Shield came to fix my Maytag dryer I've had for 29 years. I had suggested broken belt. After fiddling around for a short while he tells me that the two screws/bolts on the front lower corners are completely rusted. He would need to drill them out. Then drill out the holes and retap them, with no guarantee that the front panel will stay in place. {Questionable statement/conjecture}. {Well yes that's why you are a technician, and not a button pusher. to solve problems like this}.
He took the modern (lazy) way out, called AHS and they will buy me a new dryer. Positive side: it is almost 30 years old so it's conceivable that the front panel, the heater or the motor could 'badify'. The body has a few spots of rust.
Negative side:It would probably run another 30 years on that motor and a new belt.

195 Reat the experiment.
Does it do it every time?

Always the right rear corner or always that one cell no matter which way you put the trays in?

I fit is always the right rear cormer then it maybe distribution of coolings and the next test would be to get a new freezer to see if it changes.

If it is always the same cell then you may have a difference in the trays thickness in that cell. In that case your only option is to sue the manufacturer for rmotional trama due to defective product.

225 One theory, some observations:

The elevated cube froze solid before any of the others. The expansion of the later cubes freezing drove that cube out because it was relatively incompressible compared to the others.

It probably didn't pop out but was driven slowly as the other cubes solidified.

But it could have popped as the last cube froze which was probably diagonally opposite of the popped cube.

The popped cube may have the smallest volume (also freezing faster) so the stress on the cube was much lower near the rim causing the ice to shear along the wall.

The top surface of the cube are deformed. The cubes froze from the top down so the ripples appearance is the result of the stresses induced while freezing.

The popped cube has the highest amount of deformation and that is along the diagonal line of the tray. The outside of the tray froze quicker.

The two side adjacent cubes also are extended above the rim and probably also lifted to some degree.

Interesting "problem".

227 Isn't a resin from the leaves what causes the rash? Alcohol wipes should dissolve it.
Posted by: Chairman LMAO at July 09, 2023 03:37 PM (ssESX)

Technically it is an oleoresin and it is in the leaves and the sap. I once cut a vine in early spring when the sap was running and got a nasty splat on my neck that looked like a chemical burn for a week. The soap or surfactants in the babywipes will work to break up the resin.. Since I used to dump isopropal in the babywipe tub I can say it doesn't hurt. It is called Urshiol and is also the stuff the Japanese used to make laquerware plates.

228 117 GM used to be notorious for designing their engine bays to make it as difficult as possible for users to perform basic maintenance.

I remember in the 90s seeing a battery that was underneath IIRC a stiffening crossbar or something similar AND a windshield washer fluid reservoir.

230 "117 GM used to be notorious for designing their engine bays to make it as difficult as possible for users to perform basic maintenance."

Not just the engine bays: I had a Chevy Malibu, 1982, as I recall, where the designers had placed the jack in a bracket on the metal wall behind the cardboard lining of the side of the trunk. Had to disassemble half the trunk floor and side just to reveal the damn thing, and then undergo bleeding knuckles and more to loosen the bracket to where you could actually remove the jack. It was way more work than loosening the worst lug nuts. Returning it wasn't easy, either.

Also, in order to replace a burned out headlight bulb, you had to buy a special type of screwdriver from GM, because the mountings were incompatible to any ordinary tool known to man.

The devil's work, I tells ya.
