After seeing that attention whore in multicam, I think it's time for equality in the ranks. As in, the same grooming and uniform standards. No earrings or other jewelry other than a wedding band (fuck the ring-knockers and their class rings), EVERYONE gets high-and-tight haircuts, no painted nails, nails cut short, same uniforms and covers (no more skirts for anyone) etc. Absolute equality.

13 We had a second lieutenant straight out of the Academy and Artillery school come to our Battery in Germany throwing his weight around writing enlisted people up left and right for bull$hit gigs that the CO would dismiss before it got to Article 15 hearings.

He was the OD one night going around pulling his normal $hit and got shoved into a wall locker and tossed out the second story window of the barracks onto the sidewalk. If we had been in combat he would have been fragged quickly. He disappeared after he got out of the hospital, we never saw him again.

Been happening for years. Back when I was in the recruiting stream in the late 80s we would take anyone with a green card. Heck we had recruiters taking people to Federal courthouses to help them with their immigrant alien paperwork so they could get them enlisted in the Navy when it got approved.

lincoln paid $500 for a substitute for his draft notice even though he was not subject to the draft due to his age. Anyone with money in the North could buy their way out of the draft during the Civil War for $300 if they could find a suitable substitute willing to take their place. In the South, you got drafted and you had to serve.

77 I come from sturdy (Eurapean) peasant stock. I don't know if I could get down to a size 6. That doesn't mean I think the extra bit of weight I have is peachy keen and it sure doesn't mean I think it would be healthy for me to gain another 30-50 pounds. I lost weight and got in better shape several years ago because it was getting hard to mount my horse. I feel generally better overall.

I thing the government made people more likely to ignore BMI guidelines to try to be a healthier weight when they moved the definitions for obese etc downwards. My cynical side thinks that was on purpose.

Move people from 'overweight' to obese in a nation that was heavier on average than when the initial tables were created and a lot of people probably decided "screw it, if I have to lose what seems an impossible amount of weight to meet the guidelines I'll just be 'obese'." And then got even heavier since they were no longer trying to stay out of the supposedly really unhealthy BMI categories.

Medic. Sill was just where I did basic. But there might be a method to the Army. I ended up in an artillery Battalion in Germany (LANCE missile). My senior Drill Sergeant became a 1st Sergeant in A Battery. He chose me as the Battery medic.
