AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
6/3 – Puddleglum in Pennsyltucky asked for prayers for his friend’s wife, who was diagnosed with breast
cancer.
6/8 – Sharkman posted about a girl who could use prayers. She is 7 years old, and just had her third
open heart surgery and a pacemaker put in, because she was born with her heart reversed in her chest.
Additional surgeries will be coming in her future.
6/8 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers as she considers running for a spot on their local township
committee. She is a complete neophyte in running for office, so she said she needs all the prayer
support she can get!
6/10 – Jewells asked for prayers to continue for her niece, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer, plus
they found 3 cancerous nodes in her lungs. Jewells herself is still going through radiation and it’s “kicking
her butt”. Then she will have more chemo.
6/17 Update - Jewells’ niece had her port put in last Thursday and began chemo and radiation on
Tuesday. Jewells said how scared her niece is.
6/24 Update – Jewell’s niece is not handling the chemo well. She has been very sick since last Tuesday.
Jewells was also sick most of last week, after radiation and chemo.
6/10 - Farmer Bob posted to the comments. He sends his thanks to the Horde for their prayers and says
he’s still working to become the fit, fun, romantic and playful husband worth having that Mrs. Bob
deserves. He has lost a lot of weight and still has more to go. So far she has agreed to a weekly “couple
talk time” which will consist of prayer, a devotional reading, and light/positive conversation. Continued
prayers for him and his wife are appreciated.
6/24 – Farmer Bob and Mrs. Bob had their first couple “talk time” (virtual) on Wednesday and it went
very well. He asked that we keep praying for them. On the fitness front, he has lost 65 pounds so far.
6/10 – Joe Kidd asked for prayers for his brother Mike, who needs prayers for healing of his stomach
cancer that he has battled for years, and also a sizeable blood clot in his leg. The cancer was retreating
until recently, but a new PET scan showed disappointing results. He was really hoping to be done with
chemo. At age 65, he’s not sure how much fight he has left in him.
6/20 – J requested a prayer for her younger son Matt, whose seizure symptoms are returning again after
20 years of normalcy. So far he has not had a full-blown seizure, and the doctors are working to adjust
his medication. But he can feel them in the background and they are interfering with his ability to do his
job. Also, his second child is due in September.

6/24 – Fox2! asked for prayers as he had spend the week in the hospital with AFIB.
6/24 – Screaming in Digital asked for prayers for an old friend, who was fighting cancer. The latest news
was not good, but he is still receiving treatment. And she asked for an unspoken request for herself.
6/24 – RetSgtRN asked for prayers for her son-in-law, Kenny, who at 37 is battling acute leukemia. He
beat lymphoma 2 years ago. He has 2 boys, ages 3 and 7. He is also a police officer in a very large city
and fortunately his boss has been supportive. Thanks to all for your prayers!
6/27 – Catch Thirty-Thr33’s father will return home from the hospital, and he will be visited by a hospice
nurse twice a week. He is 82 now and has been fighting lung cancer for 18 months now. Please pray for
him.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the
prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in
a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with
the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it
to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an
update.

 Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but
the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows
the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

86 Gorsuch on the Wide Latina

It is difficult to read the dissent and conclude we are looking at the same case. Much of it focuses on the evolution of public accommodations laws, post, at 7–13, and the strides gay Americans have made towards securing equal justice under law, post, at 14–17. And, no doubt, there is much to applaud here. But none of this answers the question we face today: Can a State force someone who provides her own expressive services to abandon her conscience and speak its preferred message instead?

When the dissent finally gets around to that question—more than halfway into its opinion—it reimagines the facts of this case from top to bottom.

It’s tough going but we have a close knit family. Again, thanks for all the prayers.

120 I find this calming. The first rule of Lorenzo Scupoli's Spiritual Combat is to distrust our own strength. This is why I no longer imagine I know what is happening. I don't.

The second rule is to trust entire in God, who is the origin of love and goodness. This is what I am doing.

We must then use our faculties properly, shunning sinful things and surrounding ourselves with holy images and beauty. Hate-watching the TV, arguing pointlessly about politics - these open ourselves to wrath and despair.

Finally, we must pray frequently. Taken together this combination assures us the victory in the spiritual combat. I often refer to his book to remind me of these things because it is so easy to get distracted.

130 This week we are going to visit my aunt and uncle who have the fabled "house on a lake in northern Michigan." My cousins (and their kids) will all be there, and it should be quite a crowd.

My kids are really enjoying getting to know extended family. I'm an only child, and my wife's brother died some years ago and her sister lives in Alaska, so extended family is what we've got. My grandkids are getting a kick out of it as well. Two weeks ago they met another branch and now Emma (who is 3), keeps talking about how she wants to see them again.

There are so many opportunities for joy if we just stop and think about it. Old friends may be waiting for you call them and not even know it. It's weird how we are the most connected generation in human history and yet we sit alone staring at screens.

The local police chief is mad, as if the politicians care.
After a police chase through the city and into the suburbs, 2 teens crash and are arrested. I am encouraged at the resurgence in faith I see around me. Our diocese has its highest count of seminarians in many years. We've gone from closing convents to building new ones. Everyone knows something is wrong, things aren't okay, and the answer isn't to be found on the internet.

173 Last week a friend dropped in for our monthly-ish cocktail hour. Kind of a remarkable situation - a bunch of us all worked at the same place almost 25 years ago and we still get together and hang out.

Anyhow, he related the sad tale of how one of our mutual friends has gone somewhat around the bend over Trump and such, and he wondered if their friendship could be sustained.

I said that if they get along on other topics like classic rock and sports (which they do) then just leave the politics out of it. He agreed, though it can be challenging at times. My solution is that when they do come up, I become visibly irritated and bored, limiting myself to noncommittal statements while checking my watch and/or phone. People get the picture.

Even the most ardent liberal who wants to pick a fight falls silent in the face of "yeah, I don't know about that, but if it's what you say, fine, sure." *awkward silence*

I buy Trader Joe's medium beans and Starbuck 's Cafe Verona or Sumatra(but only on sale which happens every couple of weeks). I mix the beans 1/2 and 1/2 into a canister. Grind just enough to make two perfect cups very morning.

TMI but I started drinking “coffee” later in my working career. I drink mochas. Started with Starbucks in San Francisco but there was a great deli across the street that sold large cups (French vanilla) for a buck, so I went there most of the time. I moved to Minneapolis and started drinking Caribou. After that, Starbucks always tasted burnt to me. Luckily there are a few Caribous in the South where I live now, but I only rarely go there since I don’t work anymore. I almost never make coffee at home.
