My first house had a coal-fired boiler. Was a pain in the ass and coal dust gets everywhere. But it burns hot and is pretty efficient. That said, pizza from a coal oven is amazing. Grimaldi's in Brooklyn was a fave when I had business in Dumbo.

I have the engine, and transmission, out of a 1960 Simca Vedette. It is, get this, a little flathead V8. Vedette Motors bought the tooling for the Ford V8-60 engine from Henry Ford, who deemed it too small for the American market. Vedette made several improvements over the years, so parts commonality with the Ford V8-60 is kind of scanty.

Most makes have an "idle step-up" feature that raises idle speed a little when the AC compressor kicks in. Cleaning the IAC valve couldn't hurt. Not familiar with any KIA cars. There may be a Youtube video about it.
