Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Tippy-Tap CafeRoan Mountain on the Appalachian trail, by Rob Travis An Innocent Dog. Dog doesn't want a crummy old stick lying on the ground, he wants a fresh one. Dog either wants to help, or is just lazy. Cat tries to eat a freckle. Little dogs fail to run off some intruders, so they call in their ringer. Aw -- injured cat wants affection, not food. So it can happen! Dog and chicken have a nice game of tag. This puppy has a case of the wagglebutts. I like cats, but I also like seeing them get their comeuppance. I mean, cats deserve getting a little of their own back. A bull surrounded by a pack of lions tap-dances on their heads as he takes to the air to escape.

From the last thread because it's important....
@317 >>What would we have said if Hillary on a hidden camera was waving around classified material and showing it to random people without clearance and bragged she wasnt allowed to have it? 1. Hillary was never President so did not have the powers of The Unitary Executive. B. All papers Trump took with him were ipso-facto his papers and can be thought of as de-classified at the moment he took them. III. We have no idea what the alleged papers are but it essentially does not matter, see 1 and B. The bottom line is the best analysis of this bullshit was by Robert Barnes when he was on Viva Frei. New bullshit alert...
||Earth’s tilt has changed by 31.5 inches (80 centimeters) between 1993 and 2010 because of the amount of groundwater humans have pumped from the planet’s interior. In that period, humans removed 2,150 gigatons of water from natural reservoirs in the planet’s crust. If such an amount was poured into the global ocean, its surface would rise by 0.24 inches (6 millimeters). A new study has now revealed that displacing such an enormous amount of water has had an effect on the axis around which the planet spins.|| Posted by: andycanuck (Vwz3I) at June 27, 2023 08:42 PM (Vwz3I) 126

Anyone know anything about garage door openers? Mine is not working in certain ways but still working in others. Opening the door from inside - works fine. To close the door I have to hold the button down the whole time or it stops and reverses. The remote does not work to close door from driveway; however when I return home it works from the street.
If it didn't work at all I would think something was loose but why sometimes and not others? The drive train/motor are 38 years old. The rest has been replaced. Should I just replace the motor? Posted by: Iris at June 27, 2023 09:16 PM (hb+eF) 196

Anyone know anything about garage door openers?
Posted by: Iris Hard to close, but easy to open: could be too much friction (wheels and rails, the motor itself, drive chain/belt). They're supposed to give up and open again when they hit too much resistance, to keep them from squeezing you to death if you're in the way. Try lubing everything. But use better phrasing than me. Or if there's an adjustment for how much force it takes to make that emergency stop happen, adjust that. Not closing when you leave, but opening when you return: could also be too much friction/heat in the motor. Works fine when it's relatively cold, but not fine when it's been run recently? Or it could be remote batteries, but it's weird that the opener would hear the remote when the door is closed, but not when it's open. Should be the other way around. Weak batteries might be slowly charging a capacitor in the remote, so it works after it's been idle for several minutes, but not if you've just used it to open the door? Garage door sensors sometimes have an antennae, usually a small whip-type thing. It could be contacting something else, be disconnected, or oriented in some weird way as to not pick up the signal from the remote.
The remote is a replacement, generic: so there may be a directional issue. It sounds like you have intermittent communication between the two, and something going on with direction and placement. There may be some new thing around the sensor blocking it in some odd way: have you moved anything around near it, like storing objects in the garage rafters? Anything metal? Re-sided the garage, or installed anything electric/electronic in or near the garage? (My garage is an antique one-car, so I've never bothered motorizing the door, it's manual, so what do I know).
