THE MORNING RANT: Missed Climate Deadlines, and Other Green Nonsense

Road to Hell is Paved With Green Intentions.JPG

*****

The Climate Predictions of the Past, that We’ll Mock in the Future, are Happening Now

We “climate deniers” have been having a good laugh this week at the expense of Saint Greta The Climate Puppet, as one of her apocalyptic deadlines hit its expiration date two days ago.

Greta - 5 years to save the planet.JPG

The climate cult is littered with these prophecies of doom, including from the Apostle Al Gore, who has been warning us repeatedly of urgent deadlines, after which his angry climate God was to smite us for our carbon sinning. Here is just one of Al Gore’s prophetic whiffs.

From a CBS report in 2006, “Politicians and corporations have been ignoring the issue for decades, to the point that unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10 years, the world will reach a point of no return, Gore said.” That “point of no return” was 7 years ago, yet prophets of The Sustainable Organic Church of the Carbon Apocalypse keep re-setting the drop-dead date to another dooms-date in the future.

Tony Heller - Al Gore - 2016 Deadline.JPG

In 1989, the United Nations warned that “entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.”

It was 23 years ago that entire nations were supposed to have been “wiped off the face of the Earth,” yet somehow the climate clowns at the UN are not laughed at when they continue to make similar predictions with revised deadlines.

Global Warming - Prediction 1989.JPG

I could do this all day, so just one more missed prediction, this one from The Weather Channel, warning us in 2017 that there were only three years left “to save the planet from climate disaster.”

That deadline passed three years ago.

Three Years to save the planet - 2017.JPG

The prophets of climate doom are every bit as nonsensical as a street corner prophet of doom, yet somehow the climate cult has become the most powerful church in the world, and for one to doubt the pronouncements of its high priests is considered heresy, and worthy of excommunication from society.

The comical doomsday predictions just keep coming. From just three months ago, here is the Washington Post amplifying the UN’s latest warning that the “world is on brink of catastrophic warming.”

Washington Post - Catastrophic Warming.JPG

I always knew these predictions were bogus, because I’ve always known that any “crisis” for which the solution is communist control of human activities is a hoax.

But somehow there are still true believers. Despite all the previous “point of no return” deadlines having long since come and gone, the diehards are still ready to believe that the next point of no return is the real one.

*****

Is There Anything Climate Change Can’t Do?

Speaking of the climate hoax, is there anything climate change can’t do?

Climate Change makes birds smaller. And it also makes them bigger. And Climate Change also makes seaweed growth more problematic…until the seaweed problem improves.

Green Energy is Ethical Energy

Is it at all racist that environmentally enlightened westerners are OK with slave labor being used to produce “green” energy products, so long as the slaves are minorities living in Asia?

Solar - Forced Labor Link.JPG

Firm Planning UK’s Largest Solar Farm Accused of Forced Labour

The company behind plans to build Britain’s largest solar farm is facing questions about alleged links to forced labour in China amid claims that it offered inducements to a local MP to back the scheme.

Boom Goes the e-Bike

Despite all my railing against electric cars, I’ve always been intrigued by e-bikes. I kind of like the idea of an "energy transition" from self-powered bicycles to electric-powered ones.

I was interested. I'm not so interested any more. Just like EVs, electric bikes seem to have a dangerous habit of spontaneously bursting into flames. Over the past few years, I’ve seen many stories about them catching on fire, and New Yorkers have been trying to understand the problem.

Where and Why E-Bikes Catch Fire in NYC — And What Can Be Done About It [The City – 11/21/2022]

In 2020, the Fire Department determined that 44 fires were caused by faulty e-bike batteries; in 2021 there were 104. So far this year there have been 191.

Those were bad. But this past week, there was an e-bike fire that was horrific.

4 Dead, 2 Critically Injured in NYC e-Bike Store Fire

Four people were killed and two others left clinging to life when an explosive fire ripped through a Lower Manhattan e-bike store early Tuesday — and officials quickly determined the blaze was caused by a lithium-ion battery used to charge the bikes.

Lithium-ion.

I do not want any transportation device I ride in, or on, to have a lithium-ion battery, and I will never allow a vehicle with a lithium-ion battery in my garage.

You want to discuss how the climate is changing? Sure let's have an honest discussion based on historical facts and real evidence. You want to tell me that not only are we causing the climate change and that we can reverse it, without any verifiable evidence or facts, then impose across the board restrictive, tyrannical measures to impose that peonage? I was just wondering if the guarantee meant they would replace the equipment if it dropped below those levels, or refund you, or what.

Also, is this bonded so that the guarantee will survive the inevitable bankruptcy of the company?

I learned with plumbing contractors that they almost all go belly up and then reform every 5 to 10 years to get out of any liability.

78 In 1989, the United Nations warned that “entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.”

It was 23 years ago that entire nations were supposed to have been “wiped off the face of the Earth,” yet somehow the climate clowns at the UN are not laughed at when they continue to make similar predictions with revised deadlines.

It's fairly common in the e-bike's native homeland: Red Chinese cities. Almost all of this stuff is made in China (which makes sense - they use and make tons of e-bikes and have all the designs) and the low-end stuff like bikes (as opposed to cars) has nothing like adequate quality control and the designs are much less influenced by safety considerations.

172 I work with a number of fire departments around the country and internationally including FDNY. There is no bigger concern for them right now than lithium ion batteries.

You want hear much about the problem on the news but it is a ginormous problem and even the solutions cause more problems. For example, a standard technique for dealing with EV fires is being adopted in Europe. It involves putting a burning EV in a dumpster and then filling the dumpster with water. It works, to a degree.

But then there is the problem of where do you come up with thousands of specialized dumpsters that will be needed as the EV fleet grows, the front end loaders needed to push the cars into the dumpsters and most importantly what do you do with the thousands of gallons of water that have been contaminated from the burning batteries?

This battery issue will be ignored until something really spectacularly bad happens. Then it will be "discovered".

In fact, not even the UN climate report they all cite to says one word about all the doom and gloom-- in the science section.

All the doom and gloom is solely in the summary, the preface, the non-science part.
The science part goes, "assuming this, this, and this-- which we lack the data or even the computational processing capability-- then, it's possible these may or may not happen."

It's a deadly joke to call it science.

The 427 V-8 was a monster engine, but I knew someone that had a 427 V-8 Cobra and it was hard to keep it on the road at high speed. You had to be a very strong and skilled driver to handle it, despite watching "Gumball Rally", where Michael Saracen drove one across country. The 427 in the Cobra also had to have a special sidedraft oil cooler, as the conventional crankcase was too low to the ground in the conventional engine put in the Cobra. It was kind of a maintenance nightmare. But it would have been a great investment if you bought one new off the floor in the 60's. Right now they are easily worth north of $ 1 mil.
Somebody else I once met had a 289 V-8 Cobra, and he and his wife could both handle it.

Remember how there are always predictions about how the South Sea islands will go under the rising waters? Fun thing to tell climate fanatics about - Charles Darwin wrote a scientific treatise about those atolls when he was on the Beagle, over 150 years ago and one of the things he noted was that since Coral is a living thing that responds to sunlight and ocean conditions, the Atolls in the South Pacific would *always* adjust up or down to whatever the sea level was at the time, just like they have done for millions of years.

So no, they will never "disapear beneath the sea". People have wrecked a few by killing the coral stupidly, but that's something completey different.

The engines are built better, using better steel for valves and valve seats, valve rings. Most people use synthetic motor oil now (mineral oil), which is also better for your car.
With computer engine manangment, the engine just about tunes itself all the time, and doesn't get "out of time" or do stuff that can hurt the engine.

The climate cultists control every corporation and institution in the world and each Western nation Deep State has full control of elections. So the climate cult does not have to worry about the will of the people denying them their climate policies.

As part of our prepping, we have a backup Bluetti solar generator / inverter / lithium ion battery "power station" and were beginning to worry -- however, it indeed uses Lithium iron phosphate(LiFePo4) in the battery.

I think the country is Norway, with something like 99% of their power generated by hydroelectric, so I imagine their power is relatively cheap. Anyway, they buy a lot of EV's in the country. But they can't take them on ferries because they're banned because the fat cat insurance companies don't wanna pay out claims for hundreds dead when one EV catches fire, sets everything else on fire and sinks the ferry.

What is driven by "feelz" is the green agenda propaganda and indoctrination of the masses, as that is the proven successful way to fool the ignorant masses, especially the younger, ignorant generations (Millennials, Gen-Z, Gen-Alpha).

Bring 50 million into the country as of O & Joe's 2nd administration.

An one example: Need lots more housing - enter homebuilders, major remodelers. Who's union? Heavy equipment operators, carpenters, masons, plumbers, electricians, maybe pipe layers, transportation. Who's not? Roofing, siding, landscapers. Needs more bureaucracy in support positions - planning, architects/engineers, lawyers, enforcement...

Round & round...keeps everything going & the rich get richer but remain uninvolved. The UN agreements for migration are picking & choosing, herding, saving but also using some with purpose.

Worldwide population will decrease & moderate thanks to 'social' changes. Climate change as a factor is a farce but supports a new system of feudalism.

For mine, and 99% probability for his, not much.

I know what you're implying - toxic waste OMG!!!
Almost all residential solar uses monocrystalline silicon tech. You know, glass, with a couple of arsenic or phosphorous atoms tucked in there. Bound in the glass and at concentrations not much over what water standards allow.
Now, there is a solar panel tech that can create hazardous waste: CdT. This is very rarely used in residential systems, it's very common for large solar farms, industrial and utility.
It's difficult for regulatory agencies to control disbursed systems like residential, but it's not an issue there. The big users, though... The EPA has those guys by the nuts, which is why big bucks are being spent to develop recycling tech, which should be ready by the time these systems are EOL.
