As you know, Fox lost 32% of its primetime audience since they indulged their Corporate Id and fired the one guy willing to roast the corporate elite.

Megyn Kelly talked about Fox's ratings. (I have to link her because I didn't find a link to whichever source she's reading from.)

In may, MSNBC had 120,000 average primetime viewers aged 25-54 ("in the demo," according to industry parlance). Fox beat them, but only with 135,000. Tucker used to get 270-350,000 viewers "in the demo," IIRC.

So Fox narrowly escaped being dethroned in May -- but it's coming. On Monday, Jesse Waters nearly lost to Joy Reid -- Joy Reid! -- and did lose to the Sassy Racist on Tuesday. No disrespect to Jesse Waters, but obviously he wasn't losing to Joy Reid before the Tucker firing.

Harris Faulker is the fill-in host for the 8pm (Tucker) hour this week; on Monday, she lost to both MSNBC and, preposterously, even the lowly clownshow CNN. No disrespect to her either, but we're just not having it.

Hannity lost to both Rachel Maddow and, again, CNN's Anderson Cooper on Monday.

They've lost 62% in primetime, in the demo, year-over-year, she says.

Fox is now just edging out MSNBC, which it used to trounce. And of course they got BTFO by Tucker Carlson, doing his "low-budget basement show" on Twitter.

Even in now admitting that maybe there might be some support of N@ziism in the Ukraine military, the New York Times urges we all have perspective about this and allow that other countries may have histories and traditions we might not understand.

The Times says the N@zi imagery on uniforms just raises some "thorny issues about history."

Since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine last year, the Ukrainian government and NATO allies have posted, then quietly deleted, three seemingly innocuous photographs from their social media feeds: a soldier standing in a group, another resting in a trench and an emergency worker posing in front of a truck.
In each photograph, Ukrainians in uniform wore patches featuring symbols that were made notorious by Nazi Germany and have since become part of the iconography of far-right hate groups.
The photographs, and their deletions, highlight the Ukrainian military's complicated relationship with Nazi imagery, a relationship forged under both Soviet and German occupation during World War II.
That relationship has become especially delicate because President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia has falsely declared Ukraine to be a Nazi state, a claim he has used to justify his illegal invasion.
Ukraine has worked for years through legislation and military restructuring to contain a fringe far-right movement whose members proudly wear symbols steeped in Nazi history and espouse views hostile to leftists, L.G.B.T.Q. movements and ethnic minorities. But some members of these groups have been fighting Russia since the Kremlin illegally annexed part of the Crimea region of Ukraine in 2014 and are now part of the broader military structure. Some are regarded as national heroes, even as the far-right remains marginalized politically.
The iconography of these groups, including a skull-and-crossbones patch worn by concentration camp guards and a symbol known as the Black Sun, now appears with some regularity on the uniforms of soldiers fighting on the front line, including soldiers who say the imagery symbolizes Ukrainian sovereignty and pride, not Nazism.

The Soviet Union signed a nonaggression pact with Germany in 1939, so it was caught by surprise two years later when the Nazis invaded Ukraine, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Ukraine had suffered greatly under a Soviet government that engineered a famine that killed millions. Many Ukrainians initially viewed the Nazis as liberators.
Factions from the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and its insurgent army fought alongside the Nazis in what they viewed as a struggle for Ukrainian sovereignty. Members of those groups also took part in atrocities against Jewish and Polish civilians. Later in the war, though, some of the groups fought against the Nazis.
Some Ukrainians joined Nazi military units like the Waffen-SS Galizien. The emblem of the group, which was led by German officers, was a sky-blue patch showing a lion and three crowns. The unit took part in a massacre of hundreds of Polish civilians in 1944. In December, after a yearslong legal battle, Ukraine's highest court ruled that a government-funded research institute could continue to list the unit's insignia as excluded from the Nazi symbols banned under a 2015 law.
Today, as a new generation fights against Russian occupation, many Ukrainians see the war as a continuation of the struggle for independence during and immediately after World War II. Symbols like the flag associated with the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Galizien patch have become emblems of anti-Russian resistance and national pride.

Leftists and the New York Times -- same difference -- have never once offered this rationale as a mitigation for someone flying the Confederate flag. As even the liberals of The Hill point out.

There's no hard and fast rule about either. Some companies use the terms differently or interchangeably. It kinda reminds me of "sex" and "gender" which used to have different technical definitions once upon a time before the activists started blurring the line deliberately.

From Twitters Developer support docs:

"VIDEO METRICS -- There are a couple of different metrics that represent impressions of media within Twitter. The first of which is our video views metric, which relies on the MRC standard of 50% of the video in view for at least two seconds. The second is Media Views, that includes all views (autoplay and click) of your media counted across videos, vines, gifs, and images."

So, yes, if you are quickly scrolling a Twitter timeline, and you pass by a retweet of that video but never slow down to see what it is, then it counts as a "view" as long as it was on your screen of TWO SECONDS.

I use to work in IB (investment banking) and now my own RIA shop. I worked on some media deals for some Hollywood adjunct companies. A few you might’ve heard of. I wanted to comment on the Mr. Doomcocktease rumor you posted yesterday. Specifically that they’re looking to sell off LucasFilms.
I would be willing to put a lot of money on the line that they have near zero interest in selling LucasFilms. Especially given how low of valuations all Hollywood public assets are going for right now. All of the comps for Disney are 2x to 3x lower. Save Netflix which is more of a trading stock instead of an investing stock.
The second issue outside of valuations is who the buyer would be. You mentioned George Lucas, but he’s old. And likely doesn’t have the money. After taxes he probably only received net 2B in cash from the sale, depending on how much debt was on the company. So unless the deal is for less than 1.5B I don’t think he’s liquid enough to justify doing it at his age.

No what I think Mr. Doomcocktease actually heard about was an asset back bond sale. Possibly to a private party. Or some other kind of cash infusion for future revenue share. What I am sure of is Disney will not sell LucasFilms while Iger is at the helm. He cares more about his own PR than he does the company.

Love him or hate him, you really do have to appreciate what Trump has sacrificed to date. This wasn't a guy in a nothing-to-lose situation. He could've stayed out of politics, hosted The Apprentice until he died, experienced a Martha Stewart-pop-culture-esque explosion, hung out on luxury yachts with the likes of Bezos, bought into a sports team, etc.

Instead, he took his golden years and decided to put them at risk.

He may not be the fire and brimstone killer that is needed right now but there are times where we should all step back and truly appreciate what this man has given.

I've said for quite some time that we will need a miracle to hit 270, and it will involve a sense of anger, righteous vengeance, etc. We've got an opportunity to use the same fire that the left stokes with George Floyd and Trayvon Martins to engage the public on what is going on with our elections. We need to use it. It's a gift, and it will only appear once.

Without that energy and fire I doubt the (R) candidate gets more than 70M votes. A non-Trump certainly won't get record numbers of blacks, hispanics, working class Democrats, etc. like he did in 2016 and 2020.

While I was in Ukraine the way to understand the country is that it is divided in thirds. The Western third is pro-Euro, the Eastern pro-Russia and the middle is a mix of both with a heavy dollop of Russians. If we go back to 2014 the Ukes have a (mostly) fairly elected government that is friendly with Russia. The Russian people in Ukraine, who make up a large minority, where generally happy with this.

In 2014 Obama instituted a coup which replaced the Russian friendly leader with one controlled by the US. Russia responded by invading and taking Crimea and forcing the Uke government to give autonomy to the ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government through paramilitaries eventually began to attack the Russian minority in the country launching a dirty war of ethnic cleansing.

Eventually Putin intervened on behalf of the ethnic Russians. Opportunistic on his part? Sure. But if the Ukrainian government stopped the Neo-NAZI paramilitaries from attacking the ethnic Russians Putin's second invasion doesn't happen.

They didn't invent it, post WWI there were a lot of chaotic areas in Germany and East Europe where bands of toughs and ex-soldiers moved around looking for trouble. Some were communist to socialist, some were more nationalist-y. As things settled down these got 'captured' by groups and parties and used to crush Communist insurgencies/riots/rallies which most saw as good stuff, but after that these paramilitaries remained and were used for political thuggery.

I can't say I had in-depth knowledge of the twists and turns of the situation at that time, but I was instantly alarmed when in the 6 months pre war Russia repeatedly asked for discussions about the situation and enforcement of the Minsk accords which ended the last war, and Ukraine/EU/UK/USA refused any discussions about it. No matter how suspicious you might be about Russia and diplomacy, you should trust someone who refuses all diplomacy less.

As the war progressed, I got more disgusted with how the Ukraine government treated their own troops who are defending them, making them die in place for useless towns and villages. This reinforced the distrust.

Ukraine is corrupt, but not "tyrannical". Their threat to the world = zero. They have never, in 200 years, invaded anyone for any reason. They themselves have been picked on kicked around, and invaded a half dozen times in the last 200 years - Turks, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Russia...etc. Their nickname is the "bloodlands" because so many Ukrainians have been killed in each of these invasions.

gee, after all of that, they are not perfect. Go figure.

They have been trying, for decades to become less corrupt, and join western Europe. Russia invaded to prevent Ukraine from doing this.

They are willing and able to do all the fighting, they just need the guns. And they have been kicking the literal shit out of the Russians. So give them guns and let them do their stuff.

I respect the hell out of your posts on this topic.

But this is a fantasy. I've read both accords, and I've read the adherence to same. Neither side bought into it. The friendly pre-2014 take over of Ukraine by Putin seems easily forgotten. One invaded - one did not. One has been demanding the West allow him to re-write the Soviet era security rules for Eastern Europe and one couldn't.

Putin is the aggressor here.
