6 Evening and morning to all! 'Tis a close 74 F. here, and as I mentioned in a dreary fashion late on the ONT, I don't feel much like working out. Maybe if I get off the couch, stretch, and do my pushups and situps, my enthusiasm will return.

It's worked in the past.

The kittens are doing well. Dagny is over her latest spell of "Hello, sailor!"

8 Work is . . . weird. My boss is out of the country until early July, so, plus. Negative: Because of some kind of political maneuvering, it's *possible* we may have to move from our current quarters to some other location to be named later. Just temporarily, the big guys say, until they can repaint and put in new carpet. But we all know this means we will never come back to that space and will be stuck in temporary quarters for a long time, possibly for good.

One of my co-workers, who is five years or so from retirement age, says he will retire rather than go through this. Which encourages me -- I'm ready and more than ready to do the same. I wanted to wait until fall, say Oct. or Nov. But the horrible disruption of moving our entire suite of offices -- I don't want to be part of it.

10 Things be slow this morning. Wednesday, ain't it? Not a Monday?

Stirling the Great Black Kitten has either outgrown the "milk-treading my arm as if I were his mother" phase, or is being distracted by Dagny's presence. If she's galloping around, he wants to be part of it. This Sunday will mark one year since I adopted him.

Which is why Dagny is slated for the snip on the 23rd. I want to get a second opinion as to whether she really will need to wear that cone device for an entire week, though. I hear conflicting stories. And I can imagine it will be awfully awkward for her to eat and use the litter box while wearing the thing.

We'll have to pack, but the facilities guys will do the moving. Then, of course, would come the unpacking and having IT make sure the computers are working right if there's any problem once we crawl around, hook them up, and plug them in.

Isn't altering a male dog or cat a lot simpler? Certainly Stirling didn't need it, or any of my male cats.

In either case, once she comes back, Stirling will need to take a vacation at Miss Linda's. If he's here they will play, and I know the patient should restrict exercise for a while after the surgery.

The vet I've been using is fine. But there is a long-time "neighborhood" vet place not far from that office. I want to stop by there, have a look at their setup and see what I think, and ask about the cone business.

In late '21 I considered letting my employer fire me if they didn't approve my exemption for the clot shot. I'd take my pension and SS, any unemployment I might be able to get, start a wrongful termination lawsuit (those last two items were iffy, I know), and move on with my life. Now my pension is bigger and so is my SS. Plus I'm a bit over 29. It's time to bug out -- if not now, then Oct. or Nov.

It'll be . . . interesting. "Well, it's official. We're moving to XYZ Building." "That's fascinating. Here is my formal two weeks' notice of retirement. Have fun."

Not to mention, these retards always forget that we are talking about a open, highly complex system of competing processes in equilibrium. More CO2 means more plant growth, which means more O2 production as the plants push the equilibrium back. The South remained largely agricultural, its total industrial production totaling about half that of New York State.

The story is that an antebellum Southern plantation owner died and his funeral was held. His casket was made in Indiana, his shoes in Massachusetts, his suit in New York and his headstone was quarried in Vermont. The South provided the corpse and the hole in the ground.

It's the media, in Canada. They're probably selecting for that look. Heck, those are probably media employees in the shot. When it comes to media it's best to just assume it's all road apples.

211 So, I noticed a video talking about the death of the Princess of Lambelle. The picture for the video showed a guillotine, but I did not recognize the name (as I mentioned, I have somehow gotten into the algorithm as wanting to see execution videos and such.) So, I looked her up.

https://tinyurl.com/3uxfbkub

I quickly glossed down and saw she was a lady in waiting to Maria Antoinette. Ah, poor lady. A couple things struck me about the wiki entry. One, the lady had balls and moral courage. Two, they try to make it somehow better that her brutal murder by the mob did not involve any sexual mutilation or assault. How is that fucking better, you fucking commie shits?

I was also struck by the similarities in other 'revolutionary' movements that always descend into harsh, horrific, brutal death.

217 Recycling hard drives? The real and practical reasons are:
1. when they reach recycling age, those drives are obsolete as far as capacity is concerned. In 1998 I couldn't afford a 5 or 10 GB drive. 4 years later those were replaced by 30-50 GB drives and nobody wanted them. Anybody settle for a 250 MB drive (used) when 2 TB drives are cheap?
2. when they reach recycling they are probably close to their MTBF (mean time between failures) and likely not reliable.

The Japanese are striving to redo their nuclear industry and to use nuclear power to produce hydrogen. At high temps, hydrogen can be produced at about 90% efficiency. The same process can also introduce co2 and produce hydrocarbon fuel. It’s not as cheap as gasoline, but it’ll make Japan energy independent and that’s what they want. The estimate for the hydrocarbon fuel is ~$1.30/liter. Cheaper if it’s direct hydrogen.

222 > It's simply not worth the risk for large corporations to recycle the drives.

You'd think that, but I've worked for multiple companies that dealt with sensitive intellectual property, sometimes client IP and even legally regulated financial/medical information. None of them took even the slightest precautions to shred, degauss, or even wipe the drives.

At the end of the day, it's the low-paid IT drone who has to care, no matter what the corporation says it does.

223 Personally I always recycle parts from hard drives. They have very strong magnets inside. I love magnets. My duct work in the basement is covered with magnets. The aluminum housing goes into the metal scrap bin, and the bearings go into a jar for some future use. (not sure what use but they kind of nice for tiny spinning things.) The aluminum platters get some mistreatment with a ball peen hammer. I suppose someone with lots of money could extract some data from it, but what are they going to do with a partial copy of "Debby does the Dog Pound," missing the good parts?
