The Saturday Night Joke?

IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT
We received about 2 inches of snow yesterday and
8:00 am: I made a snowman.

8:10-A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman.

8:15 - So, I made a snow woman.

8:17 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified women everywhere.

8:20 - The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snowmen instead.

8:22 - The transgender man.. women...person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 - The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and are not used to decorate snow figures.

8:28 - I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:30 - I used food coloring to make one of the snow couple a different color and be more racially inclusive.

8:37 - Then accused of using a black face on the snowperson.

8:39 - The middle eastern gent across the road demanded the snow woman be completely covered.

8:40 - The police arrived saying someone had been offended.

8:42 - The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 - The 'council on equality' officer arrived and threatened
me with eviction.

8:45 - The TV news crew from ABC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snowwomen. I replied "Snowballs" and am now a sexist.

9:00 - I was on the news as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe, and sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 - I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.

9:29 - Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding that I be arrested.

9:45 - The boss called and fired me because of the negative association with work that had been all over social media.

10:00 - I cry into my drink because all I wanted to do was build a snowman...

Moral: There ain't no moral to this story. It is what this world has become because of a bunch of snowflakes. (H/T Hrothgar)

There could be a Lena Dunahm joke in here some where.

WHAT IS THAT? Evidence of huge creature larger than an elephant washes up on popular US beach

A MASSIVE tooth has washed up on a beach and is evidence that an animal related to an elephant from the Ice Age was once in the area.

The tooth was recently discovered along the Rio Del Mar State Beach near Santa Cruz, California, over Memorial Day weekend by a beach-goer who was stunned by the unusual find.

A for creativity. F for execution of the creative plan.

MAY 31--After his Minnesota home was burglarized last month, Blaze Smith anticipated that the intruder would return, so he left a window open and sat in wait, armed with a baseball bat that was wrapped in barbed wire and studded with screws and nails.

The day after the April 15 break-in, cops charge, Aldo Gomez, 35, returned to Smith’s residence at the Eastwood Manor Mobile Home Park in Mankato and climbed through the same window he had illegally entered the day before.

But when Gomez got inside the home around 9 PM, he was confronted by the 28-year-old Smith. Gomez fled the residence with Smith in pursuit.

Outside the mobile home, surveillance video captured Smith “chasing and repeatedly hitting [Gomez] on the back of his head with a baseball bat.” A police commander noted that the bat “was wrapped in barbed wire and had screws and nails in it.”

So what was the favorite slang the year you were born 29 years ago?

The Most Popular Slang the Year You Were Born
The word "duh" is much, much older than you think.

Like fashion, slang changes with the times. A word that seems current one year can feel wildly dated as time goes on. (Just think about how weird it would be to say something is "da bomb" in 2022.) Even when watching old movies, it's hard not to laugh at the since-abandoned phrases they use so

Someone is really into Billy Joel. Genius Award Winner.

MAY 24--The song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” was blasting from inside a Minnesota building that was set ablaze by the landlord, according to police who say the accused arsonist cued up the Billy Joel single while torching the property with his tenants inside.

Investigators allege that Travis Carlson, 37, burned a Duluth duplex last Thursday morning, using gasoline extracted from his car as an accelerant. Carlson, who is being held in the county jail on $75,000 bail, has been charged with arson in the first degree, a felony carrying a maximum 20-year prison sentence.

As detailed in a probable cause statement, Duluth Police Department officers were dispatched to the duplex around 4 AM following a 911 call. When first responders arrived, “they saw the upstairs apartment in flames with ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ blaring from the upstairs apartment."

Carlson, who purchased the building in 2005, lives upstairs and rents out the downstairs space in the property, which was built in 1901.

Job well done Spelling Bee Champ. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

A Florida eighth grader correctly spelled “psammophile” to win the 95th Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday.

After fifteen rounds of the popular competition, Dev Shah took home the crown for correctly spelling the Greek-derived word defined as “an organism that prefers or thrives in sandy soils or areas,” according to Merriam-Webster.

The rule is you can garnish your Bloody with anything from the garnish bar but it has to be in the drink or at least piled on top. Two of those is an entire brunch.

100 Shiloh bike trip update. At the battlefield were a shit load of Harleys. Older couples (around 29) and not a biker gang.

Anyway, i parked and went in the ranger office/museum. When i came back out there were maybe six people sitting at a picnic table near where I parked. I ignored them and went on towards the potty(29 years olde, has issues so shut it), came back out a little later.

When i went up to the bike one of the ladies asked if it was my bike, and one of the men said it was a "gorgious" bike. I said yes and thanked them.

Then the lady said they had all been to some motorcycle museum and their son had asked for a photo of a Ducati. Two of the men laughed and said they'd never seen one before that, and remarked that this was two on a single trip.
Then they asked for a photo, and basic chat about road worthyness, gas mileage (yeah baby, 39.8mpg over all this weekend).
Funniest was when i started it, the men laughed and one said he couldn't hear it. His wife hit him and told hom to stop being an ass

Worked a wedding reception tonight and the venue owner is now a pastor. Walked away from a seven figure income to pursue a walk with Christ.

The problem with that theory is that why didn't elephants go extinct in India and Africa, where human populations were even larger?

There's a building body of evidence that a significantly sized meteor/asteroid struck the Laurentide ice sheet, causing a catastrophe that wipe out most of the North American megafauna. The theory is that no physical trace of the impact remains because it struck at a point where the ice was 10,000 feet thick. But the steam explosion of all of that ice and water vaporizing would have just added to the blast.

255 I never minded screw-type valve adjustments, but really detested the shim under bucket abominations.

Yeah, the settings lasted longer, but getting the right shim-stack to tolerance was like playing whack-a-mole, and the more cylinders, the worse the odds.

Screw type, just put the correct tolerance feeler gauge under the tappet, gently screw down the shaft to contact, tighten the set nut and the locking nut, and DONE.

Better still, hydraulic valve lash adjusters. They're always set right, unless you run dirty oil, and well...then... Bob's yer Orifice!

Studebaker OHV engines called for setting valve lash running, using a cut-out valve cover to catch (some of) the oil. If it called for .018, engine hot and running, you slip in an 017 feeler gauge, and engine continues to idles smooth, Slip in an 019, and engine misses, you are there.

I usually cheat; set the cold, and a little on the loose side.

I've mentioned that I have a 94 year-old Vet friend that I meet with for coffee. Acouple of weeks ago, someone knoked the passenger side rearview mirror off, and, of course, drove away. He had it replaced by the Kia dealer...$700.00.

I had asked him to keep the broken piece, as I was interested in taking a look inside. It was NOT manufactured with any thought of it being disassembled. Quite contrary, it was intended to *never* be disassembled, never come apart.

Anyhow, as I worked this thing apart, trying not to damage any of the internals, I was astonished by the design/engineering effort required to build the thing. I just could not believe that Kia could have put so much effort into a mirror.

Finally, having taken it apart with minimal destruction, I noticed a tiny molded name down in the internals, 'Shefenacher'. And, lo, the scales fell from eyes. Kia didn't bother to design it, they buy them from the Germans.

I got the oil changed in all my small engine equipment, tillers and mowers and finished up this afternoon. I had one gallon of Rotella-T 15W-40 left, and used just about all of it for all those little engines. I'm dreading seeing what the price is for good motor oil now. I may just keel over.

And they sure don't design some of this stuff with changing oil in mind. Drain plug right on a platform, meaning oil is going to run all over everything. I had to get blocks and small jack stands and figure out how to tilt things to minimize that. Had to take a wheel off of the push trimmer so I could get a little can to catch the oil at just the right place.

Then had to wipe down the platform to get all the oil off.

265 Mike, a friend of my son's was a multi-talented individual, our kids played on the same sports teams and we travelled a lot together. He was a good mechanic and primarily focused on Jagyouars, he always told me not to buy a German car because they were so difficult to work on. He said his hands got destroyed working in such tight spaces and that to replace a simple thing required much time and effort to remove the stackable configuration of German engineering.

By the way, Bers, good to see you.

I have fashioned small 'chutes', using thin aluminum, for the various motorized thingies, for just that reason. Two mowers, one edger, one tiller, generator.

The chutes drain into an oil pan.

I remember many times my father getting mad, working on various farm machinery, and saying the SOB engineer who designed this thing ought to be forced to come out here and work on it.

Hold him at gun point and make him get it disassembled. They could do some lu-lus.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (Mzdiz) at June 04, 2023 01:18 AM (Mzdiz)

268 Mike -

I replaced the sideview mirrors on my pickup today. A box truck had played chicken with me and I opted for clipping a mailbox instead of glancing off him...

The original mirrors were small and I wanted towing ones anyway. I do tow occasionally.

Mid-00's Ram 2500. Mopar blessedly made this truck relatively easy ro disassemble. Had both done in an hour with the help of my son.

New tow mirrors are odd. The passenger "main" glass is not at all convex. Objects in mirror look frighteningly close! Mirrors have a good large convex portion. I'll just have to focus on that instead.

The riding lawn mower is better about that. The old one had a 1/4" pipe extension coming off the drain that got it out far enough over the mounting platform.

The new one has a little valve assembly on the drain plug with a nipple for some plastic tubing. Nipple is capped. To change, you pop the cap, attach the tube and then push and turn the valve. It works pretty good.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (Mzdiz) at June 04, 2023 01:27 AM (Mzdiz)

270 reason - Well, I was curious about the positioning mechanism, motors, gearboxes, etc. It turned out to be remarkably simple. My friend watched wistfully as I made the the exposed mechanism work, using a small 12v gel cell battery.

He *was* surprised to find that he had been driving a Korean car with German mirrors.

I remember using some pieces of thin metal, and I think it was some aluminum flashing as such a chute before.

With that push trimmer, it has these large diameter wheels, and one of those is right in the way with the drain plug. That wheel would have to come out to get a chute in there.

I have one of those on my riding mower. I picked up a couple of rubber stoppers to plug the ends of the tubing when I take it off...no drippy stuff that way.

282 yeah I don't even know where to start. She had a really bad breathing problem this past year, and nobody did a damn thing. She would have an episode, ambulance takes her, they bring her to some area shithole, then stabilize and release. Every doctor was a fucking retard. They recently sent her to a rehab, and they basically neglected her, gave her some kind of drug that made her crazy, let her lay around, then she lost the ability to move her legs, so then they finally sent her to a pretty good place, and she ended up with pneumonia, sepsis, a compound fracture in 3 vertebrae, stroke in the spine, and now paralyzed from the waist down. I mean seriously, wtf.

292 The Capitol Police stopping the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir from singing the National Anthem really cleared a lot of things up for me....

Being a dumbass, I liked to believe that law enforcement is generally on our side, and that their ranks are by and large filled with patriots.

These people are of the same mentality as those at the National Archives who wanted warning labels placed on the Constitution.

How could they have so violently attacked patriotic people, we ask? Because they fucking hate us. They really, really hate us.

Watching BLM and Antifa attempt to murder federal officers ten times a day in Portland and Seattle didn't sway them to our cause one bit.

They brutally beat women, and relished doing it.

Makes me wonder about the Capitol Police who committed suicide in the days afterward. Couldn't help but think, maybe there were a few good people in there who just couldn't live with what they'd just done.
