We can't control whether we give off vibrations but we can influence what kind of vibrations we give off. Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Is this the real life? A little update on the Dodgers thing: Catholic Vote (which broke the story of the SPI brouhaha) had a conversation with Dodgers management this afternoon and asked them one more time to meet with Catholic leaders and religious to explain the offense and harm they have caused, and even offered to pull their ad campaign if the Dodgers would meet with them. Dodgers punted (fouled out?) and so CV is going full speed ahead with their ad campaign.
If you want to contact Dodgers management and tell them what you think, CV has thoughtfully provided a list of emails and phone numbers that they know go directly to management. https://tinyurl.com/5n946dpd Posted by: bluebell - last day to register!! at May 31, 2023 07:47 PM (pTb/Z) 58

So back to the disastrous home inspection, all of the utilities in the house are electric and apparently when the Inspector turned on all of the systems to test them, the house pulled so much current from the utility that the line coming from the service pole to the house heated up, exposing the cable and arced to the phone utility lines, catching them on fire and burned up all of the lines going to the house.
So If I go through with the purchase, I have to change out some of the electric systems for propane, which I really didn't want to do with. Uhh, bother. Posted by: Thomas Bender at May 31, 2023 07:54 PM (up/3i) 80

>>I don't think switching to propane is such a bad idea. The current owners are lucky they never burned the place down. But you're right, as demand increases and the grid can't keep up, there's going to be fireworks, to put it euphemistically. Basically, propane is the only way to go, oil heat is a non starter as the prices of home heating oil are ludicrous. Posted by: Thomas Bender at May 31, 2023 08:01 PM (up/3i) 108

Uhh, bother. Posted by: Thomas Bender at May 31, 2023 07:54 PM (up/3i) I think there may be an issue with the utility not having a sufficiently sized cable to the house. They definitely have a problem with their circuit protection, since a fuse or breaker on their end should have popped (it is meant to protect the wiring from catching fire. Arcing is a bad thing, but I don't think current itself will cause that, unless the cable starts burning. Lack of insulation and sufficiently high voltage does that. >>I hope your main circuits are properly sized for your wiring. The panel is a 200amp service panel, while I can't vouch for the gauge of the cable from the meter back to the utility, everything after the meter, going into the house looked appropriately sized, the cable going form the house to the utility, looked about as standard as one can devine from looking at it in the air. I've been told the utility company has replaced the cabling and there is service going to the house again. The inspection will be rescheduled and I will bring an ammeter with me and clamp it to the hot lines as we do out tests to see how much current the house draws when everything is turned on. It could very well be that we are drawing the maximum load as we are turning on all of the baseboard electric, the stove, the dryer, lights and since it's relatively hot outside and the test case is something that would only potentially happen in winter when it cold. Women used to be the moral bedrock of our culture. It was Mom who made us go to church every Sunday, made sure we said our prayers, threatened to wash our mouths out with soap if we said a bad word and generally insisted on high moral standards and good behavior. (Dad was the enforcer). Now, however, women have become evil incarnate, parading around in vagina hats, bragging about their abortions, embracing communism, trashing America, accepting mentally ill men into their sororities, restrooms and locker rooms, keeping their maiden names as a hedge against commitment and supporting every insane perversion and bizarre lunacy imaginable. We need the Church Ladies more than ever before! Instead we get The View.

The point from which this photo was taken is where the original cathedral of Mediolanum stood, dedicated to St Thecla. St. Thecla’s was built in the 320s after the edict of Milan and was the cathedral until the 1640s. So for centuries people would walk out of Thecla’s and see the enormous cathedral gradually being built.

Horse travel isn't a lot faster than walking, unless you're really running the horse (and most can't do that very long), its just easier and more comfortable than walking. Unless you're Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.
Which brings me to the Two Towers, which I hate as a movie. Gimli did not complain. He kept up, which is awesome as he did not have the long legs, just the endurance and determination to help his friends. Turning Gimli into the butt of every joke was a rape of the original story. Y'all made me look it up. The trot is the pace a horse can keep up for hours.
Average 8.1, but depends on height of the horse (leg length). Racing trotters can hit 30 mph. So a 2 1/2 - 3 hour 23 mile trip is very doable. Even back the same day. Posted by: MkY at May 31, 2023 09:08 PM (cPGH3) 256

One of the hyperlocal homeless drug-addled regulars orders an ice cream cone, then while eating that cone puts in a larger more complicated order with extra this or none of that on several items, complains how long the custom order took, and demands a refund. To the manager's credit, she took back the bag before refund, counted out the extra coins used to pay in the first place, and was stone cold non-reactionary when the homeless woman decided to start insulting all the workers 'cause she didn't get a free meal. They even tried giving her two free ice cream cones (extra one for her friend outside) as thanks for waiting, or maybe they were just being nice, but she refused them before grabbing the bag and playing her angle. I am a happy camper as I have a shiny new GE gas stove! They hauled off the crappy glass top electric. The new one has a griddle, super fast burner and a simmer burner. I had to get one with electronics because the simpler models weren't available in the brands I was looking at. This is the first new appliance I've ever bought. Posted by: Notsothoreau ============ It's too bad you had to get the "burner with a brain" as my mother disparagingly calls them, but otherwise, AWESOME!!! Congrats. Evening, reprobates. Back from Wing Night at the Elnora Hotel. Wings were yummy. The Toronto Blowjobs are losing to the Milwaukee Brewers, which warms the very cockles of my heart.
I was supposed to get a blood sample drawn at the local hospital, but the stunned cunts demanded I wear a Coof Mask, so I said, "Fuck that!" and walked out. Sent a nastygram to Alberta Health Services, too, I did. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at May 31, 2023 09:55 PM (WSFeT) 309
