There was a pseudo-fictional historical novel called The Terror that highlighted the expedition, and weaved a side plot of maybe the crew disappeared because of some strange creature. The actual history is fascinating.
I believe they finally found the shipwrecks less than ten years ago.

There was a documentary about some guy going diving every day for a year in these shallows off of South Africa(?), and discovered an octopus. He eventually befriended it to the point that it would grab on to his hand. There was drama when a shark bit off one of its arms (it grew back). Finally, it was time, and spawned eggs/babies/whatever and croaked.

Interesting, and surprisingly emotional.

They basically have separate brains in its head and each arm.

Hamm's Beer is nestled deep within the Molson/Coors conglomerate, but does operate in it's historic location, uses it's own classic mash-bill and brewing methods.

The downside, is it's part of Molson/Coors. The good side is, that that corporate umbrella means that I can buy Hamm's all the way down here in Galveston, and for only $10. per TWO six-packs of 16oz. cans.

It's not a "lite" beer. It's a classic, mid 20th century American beer, slightly more amber than the piss-yellow of the other major American brands, and with a good balanced flavor, unlike the too sweet Budweiser or the "bite" of the Miller brews.

One per day with dinner. At only a can per day, I can AFFORD the calories of a full bodied beer. I can also enjoy the flavor of a full body beer, vs. that vile swill called "lite". ANY brand of "lite".

Bourbon? Pairs well with the ONT!

That dolphin rush hour is kinda meh compared to the huge pods of rapey dolphins that hang out in the Santa Barbara Channel in SoCal. Imagine that density of dolphins, but instead of stretching out about 100 yards as in the short vid, they seemingly extend out almost to the horizon. Probably only a few miles worth of swimming dolphins, but it looks a lot bigger.

Awesome book, incredibly well-researched. I read it in winter with Google Maps open the whole time. That was SF author Dan Simmons, who wrote the Hyperion Cantos, one of my all-time favorite SF book trilogies.

Here's a photo depicting the power of wind. This is a metal plate that holds two metal pieces of pool coving together. Not only is it bent, but the screws that once held the left piece of coving are... gone.

Basically the left and right should match... and they don't.

I personally repaired this last fall. Using recommended sheet metal screws and bolts where suggested.

Two housing framers killed this afternoon in Conroe, TX, just North of Houston. Seven injured and hospitalized.

Two story house, was about completely framed out, but did not yet have plywood sheathing, and might have had only partial roof-decking at that point.

Sudden line of thunderstorms developed about 30 miles to to the East, mowed through the area, and the "cell" was large enough to have triggered a Tornado Warning, with the "hook" radar signature in the picture.

Those winds knocked that mostly-framed house down into about a 2 ft. high, compressed pile of splintered and broken wood. What didn't crush 'em might've speared 'em.

And yet, ten minutes after those storms rolled through, it was a crystal blue, clear sky, warm sunny day. Except for the families of the dead, and wounded.

Someone out there bought the wrong Lotto Ticket, and hit all the numbers.

Yep, there is a video on youtube about that. It appears that the atf is walking back the *rule* they changed to make pistol braces illegal.

It's confusing at this time because there is a court ruling and a last minute atf rule change where it appears they are trying to get ahead of any lawsuits by changing the rule change about pistol braces they made last year.

It is confusing and it is going to take some time to sort it all out.

We're at the point where I'm confused. Because the So White I'm Clear Southern Baptist Church I was drug through also laid out that Jesus was innocent, and killed by the Romans, who were the State.
