The House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Jason Smith, demands that the IRS chief explain and defend his retaliation against officials investigating Hunter Biden.

A top House Republican wants the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to clarify what is happening with the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden after lawyers for a whistleblower within the agency claimed his team got removed from the case.
Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) is requesting an "urgent briefing" from IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel's office to address concerns about possible retaliation.
"These allegations are extremely serious. Such retaliation not only discourages whistleblowers from coming forward to Congress but can also constitute an illegal violation of statutory protections for whistleblowers," Smith wrote in a letter to Werfel on Tuesday. The letter was published by Just the News.

Politico: Democrats are split on whether parents should be informed of their daughters' abortions. Politico covers this as a straight news story because they return, briefly, to objective reporting when it concerns a division in the Democrat Party. Obviously Politico would attack Republicans on this issue.

State investigators have determined that the incident was an accident, originating from an engine fire in a manure vacuum truck that was being used to clean a section of the large barn.

The State Fire Marshal’s report stated that the cause of the engine fire could not be determined, but no deliberate actions were found to have caused the failure.

VPNs don't offer that much security since https system became widely used except for commercial trackers.

Fingerprinting a system, TPM, and a lot of other nasty ways exist to track someone. If one even cares to do it, bluetooth is easily hacked and receiving signals from something like keyboards is possible.

To keep true anonymity involves a lot of active attention to preserving it via access, patterns of use, and virtual machines and so on. As the gaps get narrower, you have to try harder.

But, that is true in general in a world full of cameras, surveillance of your finances, and so on.

The issue is that you are conceiving of the whole federal government without the natural internal friction that goes on within government. For example, who does the meat space surveillance, who determines the financials, and so on. All of that coordination takes time and then there are budgets, man hours, vacations, and so on delaying responses.

Someone who lives to be anonymous has a unitary goal for the most part. Those that are in big gub or its contractors don't. That is one of the reason for repeated intel failures despite sigint, humint, satellite intel, and even direct warnings by in place assets. After whatever event happens, the system can kick in with vigor and a unified goal. Surveillance though has long periods of boredom, laziness, and sloppy practices and the more general the surveillance and longer in duration, the crappier and more mistake prone it is.
