Adam Schiff's Aide Threatened Two Researchers When They Balked at a Demand to Work on Schiff's Russiagate Psyop, Telling Them, "We're in Charge Now"

Thereby strongly suggesting that the federal money that university researchers rely upon might be slashed if they didn't play ball.

Chuck Ross for the Free Beacon:

Staffers for Democratic congressman Adam Schiff (Calif.) and Senator Jack Reed (R.I.) threatened two university researchers to force them to help with an investigation into former president Donald Trump's ties to Russia, the researchers told Special Counsel John Durham.

The researchers, from Georgia Tech University, told Durham that they were invited to Washington, D.C., in November 2018 to provide what they thought was a briefing about the school's federal research contracts. Instead, they were lured into a meeting with staff members working for Schiff at the House Intelligence Committee and for Reed, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee. The researchers said the Democratic staffers asked them to analyze a news article about alleged links between Trump's company and Russia's Alfa Bank.

When they balked at the request because it was "inappropriate" conduct for a public university, the Democratic staffers issued what one researcher believed was a "mild threat." A staffer for Reed told the researchers that "we are now in charge," and a staffer for Schiff pointed out the Democrat would soon take over as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, one researcher told Durham.

Durham's office investigated whether the Democrats' pressure campaign merited prosecution "for contract fraud or abuse of government resources," though no charges were filed.

Say what you will about the FBI, its statement on the Durham report acknowledges there was serious wrongdoing and says it has taken steps to prevent a repeat. Most of the media outlets who were complicit in this disgraceful episode are still clinging to their falsehoods.

Oh it said it took steps, huh?

And it fired and/or demoted who, exactly?

The media always claims it's "taken steps" to prevent its last fake news disaster -- but no steps are in fact taken. It pushes the next fake news disaster as eagerly as it pushed the last fake news disaster.

Peas in a pod. No wonder there's a Mutual Admiration Society thing going on here.

There's news on the revelation that Andrew McCabe put the kibosh on the FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation's pay for play activities. That isn't the whole story, as far as I can tell from the Report. There's someone else involved in killing that investigation (pg. 80):

According to NYFO Assistant Director in Charge Diego Rodriguez, Coleman called him on behalf of Director Comey around May and directed the NYFO to "cease and desist" from the Foundation investigation due to some undisclosed counterintelligence concern. 382 Coleman informed Rodriguez that Comey wanted to consult with Associate Deputy Attorney General David Margolis regarding the referenced counterintelligence matter. 383 The Office was not able to determine what the counterintelligence issue raised by Comey was. 384

Terms like: anyone who wants to enter federal land must take the Clot Shot. And yes you must enter federal land because that's the location for you federally sponsored research project. Also, there is much celebration online, since Ukraine is now claiming that 200,000 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine. Since several people are seriously wounded for each KIA, that means that the Ukrainians have killed or incapacitated the entire Russian invading force.

I don't understand why the Ukrainians aren't just strolling into Crimea at this point.

I think I'd prefer to be a little more subtle, like "The news reports said that the FBI assisted with this case. How do you plan to guarantee that the FBI has turned over all evidence to the defense, even if it might be exculpatory? Have you done any independent verification of the lab results the FBI claimed to have obtained?"

You'll still get eliminated from the pool, but it still makes it look like you'll actually consider the merits of the case.

In November 2011, in the wake of the Penn State child sex abuse scandal, Spanier & longtime football coach Joe Paterno were "removed" from their posts by the Penn State board of trustees in the wake of the child sex abuse scandal.

Spanier kept his national security clearance & employment/consultation in national & international security, intelligence & risk management through the federal government. He's had bumps along the road but remains president emeritus and university professor emeritus.

"Head tax" of $33 per worker for companies with 50+ employees
Quadrupling the tax on jet fuel.
3.5% income tax on households making $100K+
P0.4% "wealth tax" for the top 10% of city earners.
$1-2 transaction tax for financial exchanges.

169 Y'ever notice that wherever found, your average Federal Courthouse is laid out and constructed so as to be an Impenetrable Fortress, albeit camouflaged in classic marble, artworks and strategically placed tree-planters and the like?

Only AT&T "Central Office" buildings from the previous century presented a tougher obstacle, and the C.O.s were built to survive everything including a non "ground zero" nuke blast. IOW, if Ivan popped one across town, the C.O. would not only remain standing, but operable.

Your local County Courthouse is far more likely to be Open to the Public, and not a fortress hidden in plain sight.

These people "get" power. Seems like a good time to whip out a Floyd Ferris quote:

"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against -- then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted -- and you create a nation of law-breakers -- and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

There is a book I read after 9/11, called "1000 Years for Revenge", mainly about the period between the first WTC bombinb (truckbomb) and the planes hitting the Two Towers on 9/11. It was written by a pretty good investigative journalist, although I kind of disagreed with his final conclusions.
The FBI comes across largely as Keystone Kops competent in this period, fumbling and bumbling real leads to what was going on.
John O'Neill, who was "allegedly" (he was being undercut by higher-ups) in charge of the FBI unit for investigating terror threats, resigned in August 2001, because he was fed up with the Bureau and the interdepartmental nonsense. He took a position in the WTC as head of security, and ironically enough, died on 9/11.

Looking at reports, the reasoning seems to be about letting cases work out in the lower levels. They gave new guidance in Bruen last year, and they're letting that play out.

SCOTUS is almost never going to be the sword of Damocles on anything until things are "ripe". To expect otherwise is to be open to disappointment.

States like NY are already trying to moot several cases by making changes to the law that narrow or eliminate plaintiffs. Which is why you disarm all potential threats, put them on watch lists, track all their communications and movement, digitalize their currency and leverage their existence.

And as long as you give them just enough bugs to eat and teevee to watch, they won't risk lashing out for fear of losing their velvet jail cell.

Even the most ardent freedom lovers I know rolled their sleeves up to take the jab because they wanted to keep their shitty-ass mid level job and 401k.

People are intrinsically cowards at their core.

301 It is usually the shittiest wine (sometimes the dregs of several bottles.) They pour everything they can find wine wise into a bowl with a bunch of fruit (cherries, orange slices, that kind of stuff.) The stuff sits and is stirred. I think sometimes they will throw in sprite or 7UP in there too.

It's like a cheap wine punch type of thing.

303 Constitutional Carry. Arkansas had a bit of a convoluted law that stated if you're not committing a crime and can own a gun, you're good to go. It also involved travel. Passed was a true carry law, stating simply that anybody who can legally own a gun can carry it any way they want. Governor Sanders signed it.

310 The FBI responded to the report by claiming it has already “implemented dozens of corrective actions” that, if in place in 2016, would have “prevented” this mess.

——-

They should publish these corrective actions and demonstrate how Comey, Brennan, Clapper and others would have been prevented from breaking the rules.

BTW, Comey declined to be interviewed by Durham.

Posted by: MAGA_Ken at May 17, 2023 01:08 PM (cMXNt)

311 Gotta love those FBI statements that they've taken steps to prevent a recurrence of 2016, and that if these things had been in place back then, then none of Trump-gate would have happened.

Soooooo - prior to 2016 the FBI had no policies about vetting intelligence sources;
- nor any policies about evaluating foreign agency work;
- nor any policies about considering contrary information in their FISA applications;
- nor any policies about political favoritism;
- nor any such things as these?
Nor that any of that was a problem before 2016?

And we are supposed to believe that even though these things are reasonable considerations for launching political investigations, that because there were no policies about them, then the agents would never do such reasonable things. That unless they have a written instruction, their agents simply will NOT apply sensible consideration.

Yeah - major, major, major BS on that tract. It seems that they've been able to lie with impunity for so long that they've forgotten how to lie convincingly.

313 A Leftist SC wouldn't wait to make rulings if there was a SC decision that supported the suit.

Reminds me of wanting to cross every t and dot every I in the Russian hoax investigation before considering any indictments while the Left indicted every Trump person they could on the weakest of evidence. How has that turned out?

Posted by: polynikes at May 17, 2023 01:12 PM (MNhXM)

314 Ummm. The FBI already had policies called the Woods Procedures which were supposed to prevent the very thing that happened. The Horwitz Report detailed how the FBI didn't follow the Woods Procedures.

"In December 2019, an OIG report examining four FISA applications targeting a U.S. person and other aspects of the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation identified significant errors or omissions in all four FISA applications—finding, among other things, that FBI personnel had failed to meet the FBI’s scrupulously accurate standard and other requirements of the Woods Procedures. "

Until you put actual teeth to the procedures and seriously punish not following them, they will be abandoned again.

316 So basically the researchers knew it was wrong, went ahead and did it anyway for the purposes of getting paid their government grants, helped create a narrative that rigged an election and lay the groundwork for a global conflict with Russia which may lead to WW3 and nuclear Armageddon, but now they are the victims in it all.

They can explain all that to the Devil, in Hell.
