Prairie Dog Companion Cafe

riverboat.jpg

Animals being straight savage.

I saw Legolas do something like this and assumed it was impossible without CGI.

This cat thinks he's a Republican. This little tiny kitten as well.

Earlier this week I linked a dog who thought the Spinny-Spinny maneuvers he sees in movies could actually work in real life. Well, he's back, putting on a new dizzying exhibition in completely ineffective combat maneuvers.

The ultimate Apex Predator. If your prey is bamboo leaves.

Uh-oh -- this dog is back too.

Play date for the kids.

Take the time and effort to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Do you want to be a beekeeper but you don't have any property, and live in a small apartment? Never fear, there's a workaround.

This is either a great idea or a terrible idea. My gut says, "terrible."

Two breeds of dog: The Goofus, and the Gallant.

Terme di Saturnia.

Water spout.

Whirlpool.

Humans rushing towards the danger. The hero is the guy who rushed first.

As Christopher Walken would say: "Cows!"

Cat-jumping exhibition.

A custom watch with a miniature, working Bugati W16 engine driving it.

I must tame her.

This baby feels all the feels that I feel.

No take-backs, Fido.

Lookin' good, handsome!

But... after two years we've seen an increase in flower production and vegetables with a reintroduction of bees. Not hives, but natural food sources.

YMMV

And... no, we don't have hives or a "bee window." I honestly hate the fuckers. But, they do good.

90 The reason Maximillian was in Mexico resonates with the current world situation. It wasn't the French being imperialistic (well maybe a little bit) but mainly, it was because Mexico had borrowed a lot of money from the Europeans (the Brits weren't in on it, I think) and the Mexicans were refusing to pay it back. So, the big Euro banking houses were looking for someone to collect all their bad debts, and Louis Napoleon agreed to be their front man. But Maximillian was never "Emperor of Mexico", he was just a bill collector from a pissed off credit agency, and what he was supposed to do was find a way to beat it out of the Mexicans, with interest.

No wonder they didn't like him much.

92 I read Jack Benny's autobio which was really good (and funny as hell). The show used to tour, because back then ti was kind of like podcasting now, radio was really new and they were just working out how to publicize and get interest up.

Just about everywhere he went, he got into fights with hotel people because he wanted the whole cast in one spot, including Rochester and dumbass hotel management would say "no negroes!" and Jack Benny would say "he comes with us or we go somewhere else with our hundreds and thousands". It was pathetic.

They played Vegas and Rochester had to stay out in a low rent area not on the strip. Black people complaining about "systemic racism" and all that crap just shut the hell up, you have no idea.

I came out of lurking just to mention the fact that I think all the EV sales are here in Illinois because that's all I see I swear one every 10 or 15 cars I see in the western suburbs is a freaking Tesla and I flip off everyone.
Posted by: Theo

--

They're luxury car purchases by people with twice the median income of most americans. It's conspicuous consumption. The Tesla buyers have real cars for when they need them, same as Corvette buyers. And a great deal of those are likely corporate purchases or leases.

Non-luxury EV sales are less than 150K nationwide. For perspective, Honda sells around 250K Civics (their "I guess I can't afford the payments on an Accord so I'll settle for this" car) annually.

137 @32 You'd think after watching the Germans go through Belgium last time, they would have learned, though

----

That was the problem. The French did learn. They (and the British) sent most of their troops up into Belgium to reinforce the line there against the Germans... while the German armored divisions slipped through the Ardennes and got behind them. That's why they needed that little evacuation at Dunkirk.

There was talk of running the Maginot line all the way to the Channel. But doing that would have been expensive, and there were political implications to building fortifications on the borders of countries that weren't Germany.

183 Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd.
fucking weird.

Yeah I do not understand the reverence and awe that the members of Pink Floyd held Barrett in. Their stuff with him was almost unlistenable. Yeah he was brilliant, but he wasn't brilliant in a constructive way. He'd write a song and the guitar parts, then play them backward. That takes some amazing talent and skill but its gonna sound wrong and bad. Sometimes creativity leads you in bad directions.

186 I've got someone on Twitter that claims to be a doctor that keeps telling me ivermectin isn't effective against Wuflu. He also claims he couldn't get ventilators and that the hospitals and doctors weren't incentivized to use vents and prescribe Remdesivir. I don't have time to go back and look up all that stuff.
--

Holy crap. That's 1984 level stuff. They're rewriting history.

The only "treatments" that were allowed were the FDA approved ones, and the incentive to use them was the death of the patients.

"a Minnesota state senator said it was $13,000 for someone admitted with COVID-19, and $39,000 if they were placed on a ventilator."

https://tinyurl.com/yc3kjv4x

(notice the wiggle words in the article. No one found evidence of dishonesty because everyone knew it was fine to write "COVID" down for every death)

This isn't even debatable, so I'm not surprised the left is insisting it's not true.

They murdered people on purpose in pursuit of 2030. That's the long and short of it.

They do NOT like being snuck up on from above (hawks, etc) startle easily. We had Hansel, Gretl, Pog, Brother, and Sister. They would drag clothes (preferred dirty) out of the basket and strew them about the house. When they gathered grass for nesting they always cut the same length as their whiskers. So as to carry it down the hole.

The liberal hippie quasi-environmentalist lady at work (at least by the standards of my not-very-woke corporate frenz) made a rather interesting point the other day. All the cheap throwaway crap that people buy--trend-of-the-month clothes, stupid knicknacks and smart doohickeys that break after a month--does way more environmental damage than people eating meat or whatever. It's just not stylish to talk about that because 95% of environmental concern is just leftist virtue signaling in drag*. And Bezos' empire is built on importing lots of crap like that.

* Yeah, we're not not the only ones getting wise to the hustle. I maintain that alt-left and alt-right have WAY more in common than either would ever admit...too bad there's no leadership capable of building a coalition.

He had years of physical therapy a tendon lengthening surgery and still walks on his toes. He has a toe- heel gait. I was told that if we didn't fix it he would have all kinds of issues. Well, I guess we will see because after thousands of hours and thousands of dollars it didn't get fixed. I still have a toe-heel gait and I am fine. Finding heels is though, but that is about it.
