Matt Boyle: Fox Is Trying to Keep Tucker Carlson Off The Air Through the 2024 Election
We've been hearing this, but Matt Boyle is excellent confirmation. Tucker Carlson hired him out of college to work at the Daily Caller (which Tucker used to own; I think he sold it because Fox forced him to).
Boyle would probably know people in Tucker's camp. This could even be coming from Tucker himself.
Fox News is trying to sideline former Tucker Carlson Tonight host Tucker Carlson through the 2024 election, multiple sources familiar with the matter told Breitbart News. Carlson's current contract runs through December 2024, and as of now three sources familiar with the matter told Breitbart News that executives at the network are trying to keep Carlson on contract and not release him until after the 2024 election. ..
Nobody would speak on the record, for a number of reasons. First off, Fox News and the broader Murdoch empire are known for their ruthlessness against anyone who speaks the truth about what is actually happening there. Network spokeswoman Irena Briganti is believed to use outlets also owned by the Murdochs like the New York Post and Wall Street Journal to plant pieces that reflect poorly on foes of News Corporation. Secondly, both Carlson and Bongino are technically still under contract by the network. Bongino's contract runs through the end of April and Carlson's through the 2024 general election. Both are, sources say, trying to negotiate exit packages--and even after they formally have those agreements in place, there will be non-disparagement clauses that prevent them from ever speaking the truth about this.
Boyle says that Fox News is now like a real-life Succession, as Lachlan and James Murdoch are making big moves in anticipation of the retirement or death of Rupert, who is 93.
The Establishment is always being surprised by how conservatives react. They just decided on Wednesday to cut bait."A source says this isn't about Trump, it's about control -- and returning Fox to its Fake Conservative roots, babbling about Reagan, Eagles, and the Flag, and cheerleading for Lindsey Graham.

That sort of stuff won't be going on anymore. I just think the network and the programming will be dumber, rah rah Republicans. Milquetoast content. It's a reversion to what Fox was. The Tucker era at Fox was a deviation from the norm at Fox."

Maybe, but I think it's deeper than that. They don't really, actually, genuinely believe we exist. In their vision of reality, we are a tiny fringe group with a loud voice. In their vision of reality, they think we're what the trans movement *actually* is: tiny and loud.
They do read us, but they don't think it really matters because there aren't many people like us. They don't acknowledge that the group is much, much bigger than they think. They can't acknowledge it. To acknowledge it would be heretical to their default assessment that they're right, they're popular, they're morally unquestionable and that all opposition is, by definition, fringe.

Sure, but I have a question and haven't been able to find the data on it. Is the change in positioning between Fox Prime Time and the other cable news nets due to Fox bleeding audience, or because the other channels have picked up audience, or both?
I think this is an important thing to know. If it is simply because of Fox losing audience and the others aren't picking up new audience, that's a *much* better sign than if the audience is moving to other nets. If that's what's going on, then it means that the cable news audience is actually shrinking in real terms, and that can only be a good thing. Tuning out completely is much better than dropping one to tune in to some other.

Not that it matters. The news business isn't about money, it's about control. Control that has now been reasserted. If it eventually gets to the point that news business is losing so much money that the financiers are unwillingly to subsidize it so much, there will be some consolidation. His laywer filed later (after time limit), but magically had her filing looked at FIRST. Oops! Our bad, but too late now! Judge let it stand.

Contracts are made to be broken. I assume the general gist of Tucker's contract with Fox is "You do shows for us, we pay you, and you can't compete if you walk away." Paying him, but not having him do any shows could possibly be considered a breach of contract. You are intentionally damaging the livelihood of the person.
Closest thing I can think of is doing the same thing to an NFL player. We pay you, but you can't practice, show up to the training facility, or get traded. And we do that without cause.

I'm not a lawyer and this is anecdotal, but I have friend who went to court to get one nullified because a former employer was trying to keep him from being hired by the competition. He had never worked in any other industry and the judge said that you can't fire people and then try to keep them from gainful employment.

Non compete contracts are largely unenforceable unless there is something like trade secrets or other exigent circumstance.
What will probably be a more compelling issue is whether Tucker quit or was fired, that question will make the biggest difference on how this plays out.

The stock market is assuming a rate cut when the recession data start coming in. The market players are assuming that the Fed will blink and cut rates, which will be good for liquidity and will help support the stock exchanges, albeit it great cost to the real economy.
If the Fed doesn't cut, we'll probably see some dramatic market declines later this year.

I worked in the post industry for a along time, there was a time when they would sign hotshot editors and colorists to non-compete contracts for big dollars.
This was a time when houses would poach everyone.
A couple of houses took it to court and lost every single time.
So in my experience, unless there is some sort of extenuating circumstance, you cannot tell anybody they cannot work where and when they want to.

Then I remembered that non-competes are basically void in Clownifornia, and I cheered right up. 3 years later and I just beat them out for a rather lucrative contract in Feb. Take your non-compete and cram it up your cram-hole, ass spelunkers. For once, living in CA is an advantage.

From what has been reported - FOX hasn't a prayer of keeping Tucker off the air. In fact, they are more likely to be deemed in breech of contract and having to pay him while he gores their pals on a new location.
I'm guessing they are trying to find out if Carlson can be bought. How much money would he take to stay off the air. Because he will measure that against his future earnings, which will be well in excess of $100M annually. They gave Dominion a billion almost - got that much laying around for Tucker?
