The Morning Report — 4/28/23

hereslookingjoe.jpg

Good morning, kids. Every so often, even good websites publish questionable essays. I assume at least they do so in the interest of presenting a differing opinion on a particular issue, at least in terms of tactics or even overall strategy. But you assume that the nub of the discourse is always at least an honest one from our perspective. That's why I have that little disclaimer at the bottom of every Morning Report so as to prevent my posterior from getting the proverbial napalming.

Yet every so often, you get "concern" pieces that make you scratch your head. That said, they are instructive and useful in both debunking the bullshit and helping to strengthen the discourse and perhaps move the ball forward so to speak. Case in point is this essay from Josiah Lippincott at American Greatness:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the culture war is over and conservatives lost . . . at least for now. Trying to rehash these old battles in the present political moment, when institutional Christianity no longer has any meaningful political or cultural clout, is a waste of time—at least at the national level.

[Chinese] COVID-19 made the weakness of American Christianity painfully clear. Protestant and Catholic churches alike overwhelmingly declared themselves nonessential during the spring of 2020. That was, sadly, merely an acknowledgement of a longstanding reality.

Virtually no one today cares what the pope or any megachurch pastor, for that matter, has to say about political and cultural life. Their endorsements do not move the needle and their influence has had little to no bearing, even on their own flocks, when it comes to preserving the older standards of Christian morality and decency. . .

. . . America has a moral majority, all right. It’s just liberal. The Left controls every institutional power center in America. Wall Street, the media, the universities, Hollywood, the military—you name it—everywhere the liberal consensus reigns supreme. There is not a single Fortune 500 company in America, not one, that would denounce transgender surgery for minors. . . At some point, every political regime must put its foot down. Some people think cannibalism is wrong, others think that it is right. If the former are to prevail politically they must be willing to use force against the latter. In the end, this is what morality requires. This is what morality is.

Conservatives and Christians today simply lack the force of will to impose their social morality on the Left. That is why they lose cultural battles and the Left wins. Conservatives aren’t even willing to mock their enemies. If you want to make “respectable” social conservatives and Christians uncomfortable, call a prostitute a “whore” in their presence. Mock OnlyFans as a den of “sluts.” Express deep revulsion at sodomy. Watch them writhe in psychic pain. . .

. . . Trump showed that even in our degraded moral culture, a huge percentage of Americans still want the nation to survive. They don’t hate themselves despite all the propaganda to which they’ve been subjected. The old pre-World War II conservative consensus in favor of protectionism, non-intervention, and immigration restrictions is still enormously popular.

If we win on those fronts and secure a future for our country then, and only then, will we have a chance to fight once again for the family, for our faith, and for a return of moral decency.

The author's bio states that he's a former USMC officer and a current PhD candidate. You have to wonder what area of study. I think I see the problem here.

UPDATE: commenter Grammie Winger makes the salient observation:

'Conservatives and Christians today simply lack the force of will to impose their social morality on the Left.'

Christianity's aim is not to impose anything. This is a leftist unfounded fear, and a lie.

Well said. To be fair, he does make some valid points. Especially the one emphasized. Red meat for sure since as Mao once said "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." Can it be inferred that this is what the author means? Andrew Breitbart, PBUH of blessed memory declared "Politics is downstream from the culture." While the author wants us to forget things like the transexuals and abortion and instead try to put out the fires of a shattered economy and foreign policy debacles, he himself disproves his own argument in that trying to persuade hearts and minds already brainwashed with leftism to concentrate on that is pissing in the wind.

The war IS the culture and the war is here.

A trans male who goes by the name Tara Jay recently issued a call to his 2400 TikTok followers to buy guns and told them he was prepared to die for the cause of trans “safety” and “freedom”:

If you back an animal into a corner, they become a dangerous animal. So if you want to die on this hill of yours, of righteousness and moral majority, then you go right ahead. I dare you to try and stop me from going into a women’s bathroom. It will be the last mistake you ever make. I dare you to try and stop a transgender woman in my presence from using the bathroom. It will be the last mistake you ever make. This is a call to action and call to arms to everybody within the United States that are scared, worried, have children that are transgender, lesbian, bi, or gay…. This is a call to action. You need to arm up. Plain and simple, go out and buy a gun. Learn how to use it, efficiently. Through and through. Because the time to act is now. You need to protect yourself and you need to protect your fellow transgender…. There are lots of people like me who are not afraid to die. I love my girlfriends to death, but I would rather die for them to secure their safety, freedom, and future than to live and not have anything done.

. . . More examples of violent rhetoric from gender ideologues: the e-commerce site Etsy allows a significant number of shops to sell trans- and nonbinary-themed items threatening violence.

“Armed queers bash back,” reads a “Pride” flag with a picture of an AK-47.

“Respect my pronouns or yours will be was/were,” reads a sweatshirt.

One t-shirt pictures three daggers along with the words “Protect Trans Kids.”

“Respect gender pronouns or I will identify as a problem,” reads one sticker. Another one reads, “Respect my pronouns or die by my sword.”

“We’re here. We’re queer. I have a brick,” reads another shirt.

These are not vows of self-defense against a legitimate violent threat, but violent threats themselves against someone who might merely “misgender” a trans person. These are public warnings that if you fail to participate in or celebrate this gender delusion, or simply get someone’s “personal pronouns” wrong, some trans people are willing to KILL you.

These are not the expressions of a community “living in fear,” but of thugs looking for an excuse to commit murder and mayhem – and confident that the media will circle the wagons around them, and the police will suppress information about their motivation, if they do.

But the trans violence goes beyond just rhetoric. As Tucker Carlson noted in a recent Fox News commentary, a trans girl tried to assassinate Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home last year. A self-described nonbinary shooter later murdered five people and wounded 18 at a Colorado nightclub. In 2019, a trans teenager shot nine people in a Denver high school, killing one. In 2018, a mentally ill transgender person shot up a Rite-Aid distribution center in Aberdeen, Maryland, killing four. Then came the Nashville school shooting, and police recently arrested a trans man in Colorado named William Whitworth, who goes by the name Lily. He had a kill list and a manifesto and was planning to attack three schools and churches.

But this Josiah Lippincott at American Greatness declares we must admit defeat in the "culture war," right? Does he or anyone really think that if we wave a white flag that they will not demand we kiss the fringes of the Rainbow Flag while they cut off our kids' genitals with one hand and ram them up our sphincter with the other, forcing us to sing "Y-M-C-A" and enjoy it?!

You know, supposedly abortion killed us in the 2022 midterms and will do even more damage on a national level in 2024. Or at least augment the real damage that Dao-Min Yen and electoral fraud will do. My brother-in-law is for sure a lifelong Democrat LIV type but he's no leftist. Even he mentioned to me how abhorrent the transexual indoctrination in the schools is. That is a winning issue.

And I think abortion can be, if our side is willing to confront the Left on it on our terms and not let them control the narrative. "Okay, you want abortion to be legal but up to what point? When the vulva dilates? When the water breaks? When the kid is two years old (see Obama's science adviser on this one) ?"

Whatever your beliefs are, and believe me I respect each and every one of you, at least let's have this discussion to put the issue to bed once and for all. But the Left never wants that because they know they can beat us over the head with it forever because we refuse to confront them and shove their rhetoric down their throats.

But I digress.

Surrender on the culture war. I guess Josiah Lippincott has no problem with the Left at long last declaring pedophilia normal and adults who rape children are now the moral equivalent of Jackie Robinson.

Earlier this year I noted that the mainstream acceptance of transgenderism would be the precursor to the normalization of pedophilia. The evidence to support this was quite clear. And I’m sorry to say that I was right. The Minnesota legislature is in the process of changing the legal definition of “sexual orientation” that literally opens the door to mainstreaming pedophilia. . .

. . . The legislation amends Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 363A.03, subdivision 44, to read as follows:

Subd. 44. Sexual orientation. “Sexual orientation” means having or being perceived as having an emotional, physical, or sexual attachment to another person without regard to the sex of that person or having or being perceived as having an orientation for such attachment, or having or being perceived as having a self-image or identity not traditionally associated with one’s biological maleness or femaleness. “Sexual orientation” does not include a physical or sexual attachment to children by an adult.

. . . That portion striking out the part that reads, “‘Sexual orientation’ does not include a physical or sexual attachment to children by an adult,” is not a mistake. The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives has made the decision to eliminate a clause that explicitly excluded pedophilia from being considered a valid sexual orientation.

This doesn’t mean that pedophilia will be legalized in Minnesota… yet… but by specifically removing the clause excluding pedophilia as a protected sexual orientation, pedophiles will become a protected class, subject to the same legal protections against discrimination currently enjoyed by gays, lesbians, transgenders, etc.

Do you think it’s an accident that this clause is being removed at the same time “gender identity” is being added? Of course, it isn’t. I told you that the transgender movement would be the catalyst for normalizing pedophilia, and here’s your proof. Minnesota Democrats clamoring to co-author this bill, and if this comes up for a vote, they’ll vote for this because none of them will want to go on record opposing adding gender identity as a protected class.

Forgetting for a moment armed transexual terrorists gunning down innocent children because they're Christian. The FBI is targeting Christians and other believers. Jews have been getting the shit beat out of them in supposedly "liberal" bastions including the most Jewish city on the planet, New York in increasing numbers. Parents are being declared threats to national security for daring to speak out at school board meetings, and on and on and on.

Again, the culture war is the civil war. And it's a war of annihilation, at least from the Left's perspective. So maybe Mr. Lippincott should heed his own advice. To wit:

At some point, every political regime must put its foot down. Some people think cannibalism is wrong, others think that it is right. If the former are to prevail politically they must be willing to use force against the latter. In the end, this is what morality requires. This is what morality is.

Have a good weekend.

20 "the culture war" is such a misnomer. Nobody on our side is treating it like any sort of a war, like the violent left has done now for years. We are still thinking these are discrete debates, one debate here and another over there. Now forty years later, its less than 1 in 10. So we have just eradicated an unprecedented amount of poverty around the world.

This is one of the fundamental differences between us and them. They insist we conform, yea, even celebrate their deviances and thoughts.

We do not insist on conversion to our Judeo/Christian way of life. Oh yes, we'd rejoice at such a event. But we don't demand it.

The trans movement is violent and radical. It is being increasingly radicalized the realize increased violence. In the trans corners of the internet - not the mainstream parts where trans activists distribute a high volume of incomprehensible academic prattle, but their *real* forums - it is intensely violent. They promote violence, help each-other plan violent acts, advocate for mass violence, establish and develop their rationalizations for widespread violence. Virtually anything in those forums, if it appeared on this forum or one like it, would result in a federal raid and public arrests.

The implications of this are terrifying and obvious. The feds are either *afraid* of that tiny, ultra-violent minority or the feds are backing that same minority for its own purposes.

46 Josiah is correct in that we lost the culture war. All that means is "Long Live the Culture War." Nothing else matters as long as the current regime enforces its cultural norms on us. That means we have to stop thinking that lost ground is lost forever. It is not stopping the latest advance by TPTB. It means rolling them back. I want to see the day when a homosexual pride parade consists of two people in a back alley pining for the days of the closet.

48 The dichotomy between "cultural issues" and "fiscal issues" is a false one. The two are intertwined. At the personal level, hedonistic and risky behaviors tend to be holistic- the person who does drugs and sleeps around probably isn't fiscally responsible either- and this scales up to the societal level. A society awash in drug addicts and feral children is going to be one where there are strong pressures to spend more money on brutal law enforcement, on an ever-increasing bureaucratic state to manage increasing welfare programs, and will be infested with a political class who take advantage of a distracted population in order to line their own pockets.

But then, prosperity gospel is easy. Actual Christianity is not.

On the one hand, it's disappointing that no major religion stood up.
On the other, the leaders of all are the most vulnerable to Covid, most likely to believe the government doesn't lie.
And that's before we get to the massive propaganda that hid all truth about Covid.
To say nothing of the fact that these are not boy scouts we're dealing with-- they are insane, consumed with gaining power, they wouldn't have blinked at shooting men, women and children who refused to leave a church. They burned them in Waco. They threw grandmas to the ground for not wearing masks.

But, let's not leave out the politicians, piously praying in church weeks before, that suddenly found their faith in Fauchi instead.

50 My brother-in-law is for sure a lifelong Democrat LIV type but he's no leftist. Even he mentioned to me how abhorrent the transexual indoctrination in the schools is. That is a winning issue.
++++
It can be, but it also can't. One of the problems, as I see it, is that for default soft leftists (which most of the popular left in this country seems to be), don't like bad words and feelings.

The trans issue can be a winner in terms of a battle, but not in terms of the overall war. The trans issue lends itself to the kind of argumentation that is effective against these soft leftists. It isn't - or doesn't need to be - about the monstrousness of the trans movement, its violence, its incomprehensible evil, its destruction. Those are negative feelings. The soft left runs away from negative feelings and reflexively supports those who engender those feelings in others. It can be - and can win by being - about the damage done to innocent people. That can - and might - work.

But it cannot *win* and can only be a delaying tactic - a won battle but a lost war - unless the soft left quits running from the bad feelings like those things in the first essay about whores and sluts.

Like smaller kinds of war, existential war requires only participant to set the terms. It is not a mutual transaction. If one side of the conflict views the conflict as existential - that is, for the very existence of the side, and therefore any means are justifiable to ensure survival - then the conflict *is* existential. If the other side of the conflict doesn't view it that way, it will lose because it will be unwilling to do things in its defense that the first side will do to accomplish its mission.

Existential war - like war itself - does not require two-party consent.

I heard a rumor that this is why the feds are suppressing Audrey Hale's manifesto. The rumor is that her manifesto laid out in detail her radicalization on the trans internet, and how - and by whom - she was carefully groomed and goaded into committing an act of terrorism. On the trans internet, there are apparently some known instigators who do this.

I think there is some credence to this rumor, only because it would fit the facts. It is not the only possible explanation, but it is an explanation that can fit. If she was groomed into terrorism by known instigators, it will lead to questions - questions like, "if we know who these instigators are, then why aren't they stopped?" It might also lead to revelations - revelations like, "these known instigators are feds or fed-adjacent."

I don't know that this is true, but I do think it is a possible explanation for the suppression of Hale's manifesto.

I sometimes bring up the damage done to the trans people themselves. Nobody is being helped by any of this. By getting subsumed into a lockstep cult where you lose all self identity. By getting railroaded into surgical mutilation of ever increasing nonsensicalness ("well then we'll just staple a chunk of your poop chute in there and call you Shirley"). By constantly being told that Everyone Wants Them Dead. That helps nobody. This is a cult, and only one facet of a much broader cult that seeks only to destroy the personality and replace it with a violent hivemind.

It is interesting (heard it discussed recently somewhere) to contemplate and see the ramifications of the facts that The West is primarily a guilt-based culture (with expectations of punishment now or in the afterlife for certain condemned behaviors with a worldview focused on law, punishment, individual conscience, etc.), versus The East -- think Islam, China, Japan, et. al. -- that are shame-based cultures (with expectations of threats of ostracism and a worldview focused on pride, honor, fear of retribution, etc.).

[Haven't personally spent the time to investigate these ramifications, but presume others already have.]

Major corporations are pushing cultural Marxism, schools are teaching it. Gramsci had no one on his side when he declared culture war; he didn’t surrender, he patiently laid out strategy. We’d better do same.

On his own substack Lippincott recently ripped DeSantis as a poseur and defended Trump as the real thing - no idea how any of that fits with Trump’s defense of Disney, Gavin Newsom, etc. I gather Lippincott has just been driven crazy by it all.

I think they *were* terrified on Jan 6. I think they were terrified because of who they are, and how their allies behave. What the government is used to is mass protests organized by leftist institutional actors, all of which have violent sub-groups that are deployed for the purpose of doing violence. It is the norm.

I think they feared this was one of those, only from the other side.

Unfortunately the GOPe - and the rest of the party, too, yes - didn't put in the work after Roe was overturned. Democrats lost their shit and Republicans went back to being timid and flustered.

The transgender issue will take a lot of work too, but it's not as difficult. They want to warp the minds of children and then castrate them. End of story. Such children will never be happy. They will never experience the sexual part of the human existence. Will not experience arousal. Will not experience orgasm. Will not fully experience love. This is evil. As evil as killing a baby in the womb. But people can be detached from a baby in the womb. They can ignore it. They can pretend it isn't human and that it has no rights. It's a lot harder to ignore a child being exploited and abused.

Transgenderism must be fought as hard as we can.

110 Reviewing the videos shot inside the Capitol that focus on the politicians having an honest to God breakdown over a bunch of people milling about... thinking they themselves were about to be dragged out and hanged... you can't expect them to suddenly grow a spine.

Miss Lindsey screaming to shoot people. Representatives diving under desks, bolting for open doors, etc.

They truly believed they were going to be strung up.

Why would they think that? /s

111 And I think abortion can be, if our side is willing to confront the Left on it on our terms and not let them control the narrative. "Okay, you want abortion to be legal but up to what point? When the vulva dilates? When the water breaks? When the kid is two years old (see Obama's science adviser on this one) ?"

We need to get over the ick factor and show people what aborted babies look like. Not clumps of cells. Murdered babies.

We need to throw that in their face constantly. No, you don't get to pretend away what you're doing. THIS is what you're doing.

Save with the social programs bullshit. It's slavery. You're taking MY labor without MY permission. Call them on it. Sure they'll whine. Fuck them.

Yes, mRNA Vaccines Are Being Used on Animals in the US Food Supply

*********

I suspect this concern is being overblown. This is not COVID mRNA vaccine, but swine flu and other diseases of livestock. The major bad actor in the Pfizer COVID vax seems to be the spike protein rather than the mRNA molecule itself (as evidenced by findings out of Britain showing comparable rates of post vax myocarditis for both the mRNA and adenovirus vector types). So concern about the genetic impact of mRNA in your pork chop is good for headlines but not much else.

Between cooking of meat, ingesting, and digestion, pretty much all components of the meat are broken down into their molecular building blocks. mRNA in particular is an unstable molecule and would not enter your system intact.

It depends on the state. Some states make it very difficult to homeschool. I figuring it is coming though that they will want to require public school. At a minimum it will be public school or private school with required classes taught by state teachers. 2) Out of those that aren't enemy controlled most of them are gutless. DeSantis is notable not because he's doing anything particular extreme but because he is actually fighting. There should be 20 some other governors doing the same things.

3) Most conservatives aren't willing to use their influence...at all...I remember, before the left took over business that conservatives should only hire/promote other conservatives (or at least people who stay quiet about politics) and the general response was "but if that leftwing activist type is the best worker it wouldn't be right to not promote/hire him"

I remember that Chuck Connors, "The Rifleman", was one of those 13.

Since I gave up following & watching professional sports after they went full "Kill Whitey" in 2020, don't know if there have been any other athletes who played MLB and in the NFL aside from the great Bo Jackson ("Bo Don't Know Diddley" -- a great commercial and BTW a great ESPN "30 For 30" episode to watch before I personally cancelled ESPN) and Neon Deion Sanders.

Ah, it was such a simpler and better time ...

Trump only lost by a total of 80,000 votes in six key electoral states. If turnout is greater next time - and it damn well better - it beats the margin of cheat.

Philadelphia would have to have 120% turnout to beat a 50% turnout in rural areas.

I don't think there are very many "only Trumpers" among our lot so you're starting with a bad premise.

I'd rather run and lose with someone who is going to deliver our message loud and clear than someone who will roll over like a Walker or Romney or turn on us like Christie or Heb.

It's as simple as that.

The amount of people that have no appreciation for the volume Trump lent to our movement are the ones who have turned on him the most quickly, having zero idea of the nature of our political reality. They never appreciated Trump, they merely tolerated him while the bandwagon was going strong, and not a second before or after.

Remember the many cases of people showing up to vote in person being told they already voted by mail?

You can cause major problems for this sort of fraud if you get a legitimately large turn out. If the left makes minor a mistake and casts a few thousands ballots nationwide for people that will vote in person it is easy to cover up.

If this happens for a few million people it isn't. But this means getting the LIVs to the polls and to vote "not D"

There is no margin of cheat. Well, there is, but it's undefined and unbounded.

The entire basis of the "margin of fraud" concept is that there are limits to the scale of fraud before it becomes obvious, and it cannot become obvious because that would trigger a political disaster that would be an existential risk to the system (it would trigger revolution, for example, was one such predicted risk).

2020, in my opinion, demonstrated that the basis of "margin of fraud" theory was incorrect. The cheating was outrageous and obvious during the six-state shutdown. They couldn't do it within the margin of fraud. Trump did what the Republicans always argued needed to be done: he beat the margin of fraud.

It didn't matter. They gambled that "margin of fraud" theory's assumptions were wrong and it didn't matter if it was obvious because there were no risks to blatant electoral subversion at that scale. Their gamble paid off.

234 >>>I suspect most of the election fraud in 2020 was the left casting ballots for people that don't normally vote.

Indeed.

Blue states ... including Pennsylvania ... fight like Hell to prevent their voter registration rolls from being audited. They know there are tens, or maybe hundreds of thousands of invalid registrations; people who moved, people who died, people who never existed.

And thanks to extended voting, they have weeks or months to identify the invalid registrations and fill out ballots in their name. This is the big Democrat advantage. They control the bureaucracies with all the tax records and other public records. They know which registrations are invalid.

When the ballots are counted, the only verification ... if any ... is does the name on the ballot envelope match the address.

Junkmail ballots are really the killer app of vote fraud.

236 btw 100 percent voting D in Philly is already cheating by probably 30 percent b/c our census numbers are completely fake

After the 2000 election I went looking through actual vote totals from a number of the big blue shitholes and...the number of 100% D voting precincts is shocking.

Yes, I'm sure that out of citizens that vote urbanites do vote D much more then R. But...100% year after year? And not just no votes for the R candidates...no votes for the Libertarians, Greens, or even the free drug parties? Really? Because I've seen what the streets of Philly look like and the only thing that matters to a lot of those people is the next hit.

And yet in addition to being literal crack heads I'm supposed to believe they are conscientious voters....really?

245 Christianity's aim is not to impose anything...

I fully disagree. The whole point an purpose of man is give glory to God. The Creation glorifies God. Man is made to glorify God. So when mankind fails to glorify God, then there is disorder.

To that point, Jesus Christ, from which we derive Christianity, came to impose the command Repent or Perish. Because of the Fall, natural man is in enmity to God and will not repent because of hatred of righteousness. The Paraclete was sent to impose regeneration of the Elect so that they can repent and believe.

It is without a doubt that the imposition of regeneration on the saints of God turned the culture and the world upside down.

The gross error occurs when the Free Will Theologians agree with secular society that the Holy Spirit has absolutely nothing to do with "Choosing Christ" nor a desire to please God - but these all occur through manipulation of a person's will and emotion from man (eg. great oratory, slammin' Jesus Jams, Jack Chick tracts, etc.)

Christianity and thus culture is imposed by God Himself according to His Will

They won't cheat to help a Republican win, but they'll not run a massive fraud operation to ensure he loses - *if* he is the right kind of Republican. They'd be fine with a Jeb Bush or a Nikki Haley as president. Not the ideal preference, but easy enough to work with. Indeed. We are focusing on the six states or cities that caused the problems in 2020. However, even if the Republican nominee beats the "margin of fraud" again, they will just spin up another city or two to generate the necessary ballots to claim victory. Next time it might be EIGHT cities or TEN and they may not even be the same cities.

Wrong. Christianity has been imposing its morality for two thousand years. Sometimes through force of character, sometimes through political means but it always attempted to defeat evil in the here and now.

It’s only the weak kneed 20th century Christianity that decided to focus only on the individual’s relationship with God that has paved the path for evil to control society.

It is best not to get complacent, and effective power systems understand the need to let people pretend that there is normality. With Trump - or a similar outsider - it was an extreme condition, and it called for extreme measures. Would they get away with pulling those same extreme measures against a milquetoast cuck?

Probably, yes. But why risk it? More to the point, why not use that milquetoast cuck as an opportunity to demonstrate to the vast middle that the system works and is honorable and all that jazz? After all, no better way to "prove" that everything is good and right than letting a Republican win sometimes.

2-3 cycles in a row of blatant cheating would render even that point irrelevant.

That's why they fall so easily for any virtue signaling bullshit that they hear about, that's all they're really interested in - they believe in nothing but themselves.

Yes, absolutely. But they can - and have, and will continue - to hold on to power even with a Republican in the White House. Even when that Republican was Trump, they did it. They'd rather not have Trump-type disruption, but they can survive it.

But the path of least resistance is the path that allows people to pretend that things are functioning along expected lines. Stealing every election - even elections they don't *need* to steal because the "opposition" candidate is down with the program anyway - is a poor way to do that.

If it will sell for $60m-$80m, then it *isn't* worth $300 at all, is it?

Commercial real estate is going to be a very bad time, especially in urban cores. Even were you have returns to the office (which will accelerate), they will be returning to different offices. In some of our worst cities like Seattle and Portland, good office space in the suburbs is more expensive per square foot than good office space in the urban core. A sprawling commercial park in the 'burbs can command higher rents than a swanky Class A office tower downtown.

The urban cores are hellholes, and not all moves are cross-country. It's possible that we'll see a general commercial real estate decline (likely, even), but it will be very inconsistent. A lot of suburban office districts will decline little as compared to the urban cores.

343 The crusades sort of prove the point, I think. Successful or not, they were attempts - by main force and military power - to impose Christian morality and theology.

Exactly. Orthodox Christianity says that Christian morality is only achievable with a spiritual change. No spiritual change, particularly in nominal Christians, you get cases of "back-sliding" or the label "carnal Christians" which represent those who are not actively hostile to Christianity, and "Love Jesus" but still live a life little different from the unregenerate.

Man cannot force another man to repent from sin and have a change of heart. This was the laughable fallacy of the 'W' mission in Afghanistan to wage a battle to "win hearts and minds" to Washington DC values.

I submit that 1950s Christianity was mostly nominal Christians who led high-trust culture lives because their neighbor was also simulating Christian values.

Today, with multi-culturalism, we have plunged into low-trust society, and no amount of Christian influence will alter that.

True to a point. But no Crusader was ever able to muster the forces needed to destroy Islam. Jerusalem was retaken for a time, but lost again.

The West, as a whole, despite being for all intents and purposes a theocracy ruled from Rome (even the monarchs derived their power from the pope) simply didn't have the will to do it.

In all seriousness, transgenderism is hated widely and not just among conservatives. It is an issue where the center-right holds the high ground. People ARE fighting against this sickness at school board meetings and in the state legislatures. Circling back to the half-in-jest question, this writer has embraced the Ryan position to surrender on cultural issues but not economic and foreign policy ones. No. The states are showing the way. Tax rates and especially needless wars and foreign interventions are very distant concerns if they are concerns at all.

375 Even were you have returns to the office (which will accelerate), they will be returning to different offices.

With the requirement these days that there exists two incomes per household, either a two person partnership or a single person partnering with government welfare services, the problem with "returning to the office" means that both partners find meaningful employment proximate to the home.

There were three classes of employees: Talented, Diversity-Hires and Place-Fillers. In booming economies, the last two can find employment, in dying economies, like the one the West finds itself, Place-Fillers are getting pink slips as the ESG Hunters are still holding on to Diversity Hires. But everyone wants Talent.

The problem is, do these partnership households have two talented people? If not, one or both are going to have a difficult time in the "return to the office" scenario.

Time will tell on that. "Talent" is relative. Everyone has something he can do. Whether it pays well is an entirely different story, but the marginal talent will have an edge over the diversity hire after the second or third wave of big bankruptcy activity.

As to proximity, yes, absolutely. A lot of the high-flying laptop class people who fled their shitholes during COVID are going to get bitten in the ass by that, hard. Way too many of them - a strong majority, in my experience - assume that the work-from-home party is going to last forever. They can move to a semi-rural or exurban area in a lower-cost state and keep that California or Texas or Colorado or New Jersey pay scale. This has paid off in a huge way for these first three years, but the party *will* come to an end. When it does, they are in for a rude awakening.

That was not the Crusades; that was what the Spaniards called "La Reconquista".

Spain played out differently then the formal crusades, and was much more successful obviously.

Though it both cases they were profoundly defensive - the Muslims conquered Spain, the Levant, and Asia minor.

There were offensive crusades into the Baltic areas and...those were much more successful as well.

What's kicking the arse of the right is media, most of it on the average person's TV package & now streaming services. i.e., Disney has the subdivision FX. FX has had, i.e., American Horror Story, Snowfall, Atlanta, Pose. Warner Bros. does 'lifestyle' TV, i.e. I am Jazz; You, me & my ex; Seeking brother husbands. I've watched some of the most popular series on FX, and see how it's taken pieces of truth & reality & built series around them, i.e., AHS Season 11 chasing a serial killer, dying from the HIV/AIDS virus when it was largely unknown & uncontrollable. Another: POSE, a drama about NYC's ball culture, an LGBTQ subculture in the African-American & Latino communities, through the 1980s and 1990s. (It was inspired by the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning.) Enter Hollywood, big Music w/its new 'Disco'... AND the government grabs onto the fear & some of that reality of a Charlottesville, Fauci, PPH...and uses it.

Posted by: grammie winger at April 28, 2023 09:10 AM (45fpk)338

Christian faith cannot be imposed, and must not. But political organization of society around Christian principles must be imposed, or else it doesn't happen. Arguments around how (or even whether) Christians should rule/govern have been going on since before St. Augustine. Note that it's the same basic principle as whether Christians are morally obligated to pacifism.

Constantine settled the issue for the Roman Empire. There have since been centuries of polemic alleging that "true" Christianity ended then and Rome corrupted it for political ends by allying throne and altar. Many of today's so-called "conservative" Christians are basically arguing Constantine should have let Roman laws remain pagan, lest Christians sully themselves with imperfection and compromise. St. Paul says Caesar wields the sword by right, therefore Christians are obligated to obey Caesar in secular matters. How can Christian rulers be denied what Caesar is permitted?

478 "Christianity's aim is not to impose anything. This is a leftist unfounded fear, and a lie."

True, but on the other hand...
As a dead white(?!) male once said, "My kingdom is not of this world", "Render unto Caesar....", and probably other relevant passages. The point is that while we are in this world we must act appropriately to this world, not the next. If we need to shoot someone to protect the life of another that is an appropriate, even laudable, if not a Christian, thing to do.
Civilization is nothing more than a majority imposing its morality on the entire group. In the case of Christianity that morality includes not forcing your religious beliefs on others. Except, of course, for things like murder, theft, rape, etc. It may be a bit paradoxial, but it is what it is.

There are both spiritual aspects and secular (rulership) aspects. As to spiritual matters, if the message is not received, "brush the dust off you as a witness against them" and leave.
As a secular matter, if a country does not defend itself against its enemies it will fall as a matter of course.
Communism and Socialism are anathema to a system based on freedom of conscience and action, and Christianity is persecuted under both of the former systems.

483 "Christianity's aim is not to impose anything"

What? Didn't Christians fight for over a hundred years, and I mean killing each other not just exchanging harsh words, about whether a crown had 5 spires or 6? Or something that nonsensical I forget what.

The Soviet Union wishes Christianity didn't impose. I credit mostly Reagan Thatcher gets thrown in and the Polish leader and I'm not sure if he's the same one or if there's a Polish Pope but the Catholic church was heavily involved in helping us topple the Soviet Union.

Now if Christianity has acquired a new aim, and it's to not impose, then those charlatans need to be identified and tossed out. Good is NOT passive, that's actually sinful. We are not to forsake this world for the next. This is not a waiting room or holding area there are battles moral battles here that need to be fought and if the Church of all things can't do it then it's needs to get out of the way. I think this corruption is the inevitable result of the church changing its doctrine in relationship to a corrupt culture instead of standing firm and losing members and dues

We made a huge mistake telegraphing that we would not attack unless we were provoked. Basically telling the left that if they were careful to not provoke us we would never attack at all. That's why they're coming at us sideways with soft power.

You can only defeat Marxism with violence. It's up to you whether that's 120 million and the next century or 12 million tomorrow.

Right now I look at Jacobson and Hinderraker and Reynolds and it's like they're fighting the last war with cavalry. The rule of law is dead. You may have some ghost pains but when it matters, you're going to be shot in the back of the head or imprisoned falsely by a kangaroo court. 487 'have a question for the only-Trumpers. You say the 2020 election was stolen from him. I'm agnostic on that, but let's say you're right. Wouldn't the Deep State just steal it again if he is the nominee in 2024? Doesn't that make it futile for him to run again?"

Yes, if you allow the other team to hack into the scoreboard unchallenged unchecked unpunished every time you score a touchdown then yes, it's futile.

But not just for Trump, they don't hate Trump for personal reasons they hate Trump because he is overturning the money lenders tables. Any future Ronald Reagan who comes after him and tries to fix the problems in this country is going to encounter the same problem - so really what you're asking is whether or not it's futile for us to continue fighting.

488 "330 Are we in the end times?"

My wife likes to quote Yeats back at me, about the good lacking conviction and the worst full of passionate intensity. A mechanism behind his poem is something called a gyres. Which is really just a fancy way to say a pattern. As if all the gravity and invisible forces are leaning in One direction and this time it's not toward progress it's towards decay and in a sense I'm just fighting a tide it's meant to happen it's meant to be this way it sucks. Take up archery instead

But I believe in free will. I'm going to fight the wind. Maybe some things can be saved. I feel bad for these new immigrants. Most Americans I could care less about they don't deserve to be free but I see these people they still have that 'we made it!* look in their eye. I wish we could keep the lights on a little bit longer for them

489 And hey JJ sorry if I sound like I'm attacking you, I'm not at all. Lord knows you have more perseverance and energy and hope than I could ever muster, I'm not even in your weight class so... Considerate more seriously

490 "Sarah Hoyt, if you're in the room step outside okay, go burn witches for 'glowing' somewhere else"

And really, what's the point of fighting if we're just trading one set of tyrants for another. Hoyt falsely accuses a Marine of betraying his own people, refuses to look at evidence that would clear his name, and nobody connected to her can speak up on his behalf? Not getting a warm fuzzy. I'm going to risk my life for people who can't be bothered to stand up for me? I have to ask them, a Marine has to ask for help. Fine. But that's something else that's been lost.

And it's not just White as far as free speech goes I've tested Althouse, Powerline, Instapundit, and Legal Insurrection. All of them failed. To his credit Reynolds was the least bad. For the first time I actually have more freedom of speech on Twitter than I do at these sites that should tell you something.

I don't understand the logic either. I can build IDs in my sleep, I'm very good at expressing myself with violence. But I would rather express myself with words. And what do these little tyrants do? Take away my words. No, I'm not going violent I'm going to learn to hack as a compromise and God help then.

491 (waves fist at clouds)

Aec credam a Deo pio, a Deo iusto, a Deo scito?

Ya I know, drama llama. I'm a child of two alcoholics. Every night of my childhood was WW3. So I don't really understand your concept of drama I guess all my fuses are burnt out.LOL

You know, since that's quote unquote normal to me I probably recreate it as an adult. Oh well. Hey what do you think is a good calling card to leave when you have to site and taking it down something fun maybe Bugs Bunny. Pac Man? No it needs to be ironic so season collection of The View, max volume no stop button

492 Oh I forgot I shouldn't complain about Powerline without mentioning that Scott Johnson is a man of his word surprisingly Fair competent intellectually honest integrity I don't agree with the way he fights or how he fights but he has good character I should at least say that and in my rent on a good note
