The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

American Exceptionalism...the result of 2,500 years of development of Western Culture, is being subsumed in an invasion of people whose world-view is alien to all of the concepts that drove the success of America. Self reliance, independence, entrepreneurial spirit, intelligence, and most of all, a healthy suspicion of government.

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 changed the course of our history by shifting immigration away from the idea that it should mirror the current makeup of the country, and toward a radically different source of immigrants: countries that had no history and culture of freedom, autonomy from government, or even a spirit of independent work, free from the control of government.

Fast forward 60 years and even the minimal controls over the border that were assumed by Americans have become laughable. Millions of illegals pour over our borders every year, encouraged by the lawlessness of whichever political party happens to be in control. These poorly educated, government-loving criminals suck up huge amounts of government transfer payments in the form of welfare, medical care, and cost our society billions in criminality.

But the payoff is clear; it has shifted huge swathes of America into reliable Democrat-voting areas. Never mind that unbridled illegal (and legal) immigration has created the conditions for chaos in our society...a breakdown of civil culture and a dismantling of the structure of society that created the greatest economic and social powerhouse the world has known.

But is there a solution? Or is this simply shoveling shit against the tide?

Governor Abbott Deploys New Texas Tactical Border Force

Governor Greg Abbott today announced the deployment of the new Texas Tactical Border Force to the Texas-Mexico border to respond to the growing border crisis at Austin Bergstrom International Airport in Austin. With President Joe Biden ending Title 42 this Thursday, the Governor is enhancing Texas' unprecedented border security efforts with the tactical deployment of hundreds of Texas National Guard soldiers to join the thousands already deployed as part of Operation Lone Star and serve on the new border force for targeted responses as the nation braces for an expected spike in illegal immigration.

Sounds great, but it's just more theater from Abbott. Until Texas can deport the illegals crashing the border, and those already in the state, they are just playing Whack-A-Wetback.

As J.J. Sefton wrote a few days ago, the solution to our illegal immigration problem is clear, simple and impossible to enact. Seal the border, end legal immigration for 10 years, enforce existing law, end benefits to illegals, tax remittances at a high rate (90%), end sanctuary policies, end bilingualism, streamline deportation of ALL illegals (including their children), and create significant criminal penalties for employing illegals. I would add one more...end the anchor baby scam.

But before we can do these things we need a majority in congress that actually cares about Americans more than they care about the next cocktail party and their bank accounts, and a president who is willing to go to the American people and explain why this is the only way to save our country. And then we need three or four terms of presidents like that.

Can anyone imagine that happening? Sefton and I spoke about the border crisis in the current CJN Speaks, and my conclusion is that absent about 20 years of hardnosed conservative leadership willing to do the tough and unpopular (with the media) things, our country is doomed.

It's difficult to see any other outcome...

Call up the national guard or state militia, send them to the border with loose ROE and instruct them to quell the tide. That would invite an invasion from the north by the national army, though, and would definitely trigger a legal crisis and probably a constitutional one.

Yup. For our Morons who live near the border, keep your head on a swivel. This is not going according to plan. The plan called for a moderate to large volume of slaves to cross the border in an orderly fashion, with the cartels to the south and the NGOs to the north handling the transfer with some grease provided by the US federal government.

They're getting a tremendous volume that is extremely disordered with way too many of them outside the control systems on the southern side of the border and they cannot be shoved into the control system on this side of the border. The Mexican army is also likely going to be involved, if yesterday was any indication.

It's going to unfold into utter disaster.

69 They're still a minority of the total, but a ton of the people flowing over the southern border are not Latin Americans at all. The pipeline and weak border are so well understood that people from all over the world use it. There are a non-trivial number (many thousands) of mainland Chinese using that pipeline to flee Red China. They hop all over the world to chain visas together to do it (like China to Hong Kong to Malaysia to Turkey to France to somewhere in Latin America). Once they land in Latin America, they find a convoy headed north and melt into it. Once at or over the border, they wait to be caught or turn themselves in, then melt into the interior. The Chinese are not the only ones doing it.

This is such a disaster and has been such a disaster for so long that people from all over the world are getting in on the action.

The only hope left I see is for the Red States to form a compact and push the back hard against the Federal government, especially the administrative state. It is a high risk proposition. The Left is hell bent to gut the states and nationalize everything imaginable. 25 to 30 states acting with one voice is problem and if the Feds sent troops in well, that would be a firestorm.

Thousands of miles away & there's an influx of new "residents," drivers, school kids, food pantries (the latter for show more then necessity)... but fewer and fewer medical services, family stores, restaurants/delis, conventional churches, catholic schools, etc. The streets are dead by 10pm, with the exception of street racing.

Family doctors have retired in droves, former "for profit" hospital facilities - including skilled hospice care - closing &/or converting to rehabilitation centers & senior living. Urgent care centers are packed, appointments are unavailable for days. There's little point in going to an emergency room, unless maybe via ambulance. Drug addicts and homeless are walking the streets; narcan is readily available & often used. Half the public schools are trending awful & many of the kids attending will suffer their entire lives, in part due to a half-assed educational system.

The other side of some counties are currently holding their own, creating parks & biking & walking trails as barriers. But even for those towns, I can't imagine how things will be in just another two years. They can't outrun the devil.

It depends on what you're after. If you're after being left alone in general, pick up a wife and live modestly, there are options mostly in the third world. There are risks, of course, to doing that. These are *not* free countries, but ignorance can be purchased from the local authorities.

That's the math, and some people are going to take the plunge. We live in an unfree country were ignorance *cannot* be purchased. The target country will have a comparatively high murder and property crime rate and you'll have to have bars on your windows - but how is that really all *that* different from, say, Baltimore today?

There are probably a few places, but would they want a mass influx of immigrants? Probably not.

I think Italy had been pushing back against this, moving further to ther right. Poland has been steadily right leaning. Hungary and other eastern European nations have been fighting the EU's push to turn Europe into the worst parts of Africa. The harder places, but those that would be generally nice but you'd have to switch to their way of doing this, would be Japan or South Korea.

He sounded like he was either lying or delusional. He then tried to make it sound like he was talking about only some sections of the wall, but he just sounded evasive dishonest to me.

I wish he would learn to stop with the bluster. He could have said "I did everything I could" (true) but the rest of the government stood in my way (also true). He then could have called for his reelection, so he could finish the job.

He doesn't need a better bargain. Hosting the program is fairly cheap for Twitter. The program will finance itself, just like most podcasts do (commercials). The platform itself will deliver ads, too, at some rate. Twitter will keep the lion's share of that, and cut in the content creators as little as possible.

This is pretty typical. I don't think Musk is going to reinvent the wheel, I think he's just going to try to build it into a seriously huge wheel.

He won't. For that, you need a unified GOP that is acting RIGHT NOW to counteract the cheating that will take place. By shifting their attention to the next shiny object without even admitting that there was cheating going on in 2020, you guarantee that whoever the nominee is will lose in 2024. I'd rather that DeSantis fight the cheating now with Trump, then, win or lose, run in '28 as the guy who can unite the party behind being the Joshua to Trump's Moses.

As it stands now, he'll never get all of Trump's voters - and he'll need all of them if he stands a chance at POTUS, whenever he runs. He needs to play the long game.

I agree. The stars aligned perfectly for the Democrats in 2020 and no star was brighter than the virus which enabled Biden to hide in his basement and give us mass mail in voting. Plus, Biden had no record to defend.

Things are getting worse not better for Joe and the level of cheating they would need to win in 24 would make Chavez blush. Not sure this country would stand for that.

I've also believe this as well as the belief that a high percentage of Trump supporters will stay home if he's not the nominee. That's why though I don't want it, I think the only chance we have to defeat Biden is with Trump as the nominee.

I think that's old logic that has now been proven irrelevant. The entire "margin of fraud" concept was predicated on the assumption that after certain limits, the fraud becomes so obvious that it cannot be hidden and legitimacy cannot be claimed and thus the theft will fail.

2020 and some elections since then demonstrated that while the first condition is true, the second condition is not. There is no "margin of fraud." They can cheat however much they like. >100% turnout, coordinated count stoppages, double or triple-counting, false registrations, poll interference, whatever. Everything goes now and it doesn't matter that it's an obvious fraud because the theft will *not* fail as a result.

It is perhaps - but only perhaps - possible that a true rout couldn't be overcome. If, say, 80% of people voted for the same person, it might not be possible to topple that through the demonstrated mechanisms of fraud. But that also won't happen. We can't even get 60% agreement in this country over what a woman is.

I'd be looking at Chile right now. They just had an election very favorable to the Right. Or Paraguay or Uruguay, two countries that you practically never hear from.
