"Which frees up some 4nm capacity at TSMC because Nvidia seems to be cutting production rather than prices."
Makes sense, in a way. They have a bunch of cards that no one wants to buy. Rather than clearing that inventory by reducing prices so they move inventory, they are going stubborn and just cutting production. This is an interesting thing with how deformed people look at customers these days. Very similar to how car manufacturers and dealers are handling the fact that during the pandemic they got used to tight inventory and could jack up prices. Instead of lowering prices as supply swelled and demand reduced, they just decided to sit and bet people would HAVE to pay the (inflated price) for the vehicles. In other words, they wanted to turn the special circumstances into the norm. Posted by: Aetius451AD at April 26, 2023 05:25 AM (/xaUq) 30

U.S. District Court Judge C.J. Williams ruled Tuesday that the claims at issue in writer Ryan Lizza’s story — “Devin Nunes’s Family Farm is Hiding a Politically Explosive Secret” — were essentially accurate. The judge said that conclusion was fatal to the suits brought by Nunes, his relatives and the company used to operate the dairy, NuStar Farms.
“The assertion that NuStar knowingly used undocumented labor is substantially, objectively true,” wrote Williams, an appointee of former President Donald Trump. In the 101-page opinion issued Tuesday, Williams said evidence developed during the litigation showed that the farm employed numerous workers who provided names and Social Security numbers that did not match Social Security Administration records. “This Court ordered the SSA to verify the SSNs of all disclosed NuStar Farms employees,” Williams said. “Of those employees who NuStar plaintiffs employed on or before September 30, 2018, 243 of 319 employees’ names, dates of birth, and SSNs did not match SSA records.” Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at April 26, 2023 05:57 AM (wsSEe) 45

My gut reaction is that tech is floundering from two things:
1) woke -> broke 2) a Gold Rush effect in its final phase, where a field attracts people who want to profit off of what other people have profited off of, but have no idea how. ("Just hire a bunch of Chineses, they'll know what to do!") 3) Tech is the hot new market for fascistic endeavors in creative applied money laundering. These new ventures aren't intended to survive and succeed, they only need to exist as ephemeral particles to carry the grand unified force of Graft. Ok. Three things. If you're a news network and derive 75% of your revenue from the pharmaceutical industry who can boycott your network in a heartbeat, you can't call yourself independent. That's a perfect example of dependency. They own you. Intel's PC revenues are down 53% for Q1 over the same quarter last year.
This reflects Microsoft Surface revenue. In the previous quarter, Surface revenue dropped 39% and in the current quarter it dropped another 30%. If my rudimentary math skills are correct, Surface sales are 42.7% of what they were two quarters ago. There appears to be a lot of unsold computer products hanging around in warehouses and that would also, it seems, explain why SSD prices are down. Morning peeps. A little tranny lite story; went into the local liquor store yesterday. While checking out asked how Bud Light sales were going. The clerk says they've not sold a single Bud Light, can, six-pack, 12-pack or case in several weeks.
Also, they haven't ordered any in the same time. He said they usually order about once a week and go through about 20 cases in that time period. Small town. 4k people. Imagine what it's been like elsewhere. Posted by: Martini Farmer at April 26, 2023 06:45 AM (Q4IgG) 110

Nicholas Cage over invested into real estate and then the market went south which left him 6 million in debt. Since then he's taking every single movie role. Nothing you can do except waste your time. She has made her decision and will not change it come Hell or high water. No different than those who proudly state they will simply not set their hair on fire, no matter what. Or those who publicly state, proudly, that they still believe in the country and always will no matter what. Those people have chosen to blindly exist today and ignore tomorrow, in favor of what they remember about yesterday. They'll be herded into a smaller and smaller corner, one they increasingly can't break free from, all while spouting platitudes that don't match reality. Which is fine - as along as you ignore them and write them off: Because they'll certainly try their best to convince you to join their illusion - because your participation helps their denial. They need you. You don't need them. Posted by: Hairy Handed Gent at April 26, 2023 07:29 AM (G58JT) 175
I am at core a liberal. I believe no person is a law unto themselves, there are no kings or lords or dictators who can rightly hold power, that every law applies to every citizen, that harassment and assault are illegal no matter who it is directed at, and that a citizen is a citizen no matter what they may believe or think. I believe that no one has the right to subjugate others in order to "fix things".
Everything about the collectivist sociopathic cult controlling the state and the culture is illiberal. This never-terminating program of "yeah but" to justify any atrocity or absurdity is not progressive or liberal or productive at all. It's just a farce designed to concentrate power and eliminate liberty and justice under the guise of liberty and justice. Got up at 5:00 this morning, but I've noticed a disturbing trend to waking up near 6:00. Makes me feel like I'm wasting the day away.

I am at core a liberal. Posted by: Warai-otoko
What you said strikes me as the classical definition of what it means to be a liberal. That I find perfectly reasonable and was the primary purpose of a university education. Well, that and drinking beer, getting laid and stuff like that. The world liberal today has been perverted into essentially meaning Marxism. The stone apathy and ignorance of blue collar people often astounds me still. I spent years working in these environments and in factories and the sheer lack of interest or curiosity about anything not directly involving them or their immediate existence is jaw dropping.
I had a coworker reveal 2 days ago he did not know the order of the months in a year. Male, mid-20s. Mind blowing. Posted by: LenNeal at April 26, 2023 07:35 AM (43xH1) 182
I've been using ChatGPT more. Although it is woke, it will at least reason with you, and acknowledges when it it caught in a logical error. A human lefty will simply ignore you or REEEEEE you. ChatGPT is willing to engage.
And it works well for non-political queries, and STEM topics. I am beginning to think it is true that people need to learn how to use these things, lest they be left far behind, and at the mercy of those who do know how to use them. Posted by: gp Rented A Tent at April 26, 2023 07:36 AM (MvF+J) 183
Leaving Las Vegas has one scene of Elizabeth Shue pouring scotch all over her breasties in an effort to entice the alchy Cage. As an Elizabeth Shue afficianado I was willing to watch the movie to get to that scene, but it was difficult.

I am watching the Live Now Fox channel and it's production values are a cut above the public access channels from the early cable days or in modern terms when Steve Bannon shows up on set over at Real America's Voice.

I remember getting in a small debate with my wife, Catholic school educated, over the sequence of the planets, particularly Mars. She instantly rattled off some planetary mnemonic that had me shaking my head in wonder. Posted by: Divide by Zero at April 26, 2023 07:41 AM (enJYY) 189

Posted by: Lost In Space at April 26, 2023 07:35 AM (7ou2c) I have been recoiling against the phrase "classical liberal".... Liberal is Liberal, it needs no adjective. And the played out dimwitted barbarism strutting around giving orders and spreading lies is not liberal, no matter what adjectives you try to attach to it. It sounds trivial and petty, but i think language matters. It's why the masses support atrocities and absurdities... they know at some Jungian level that liberal is good, but they're told that what is illiberal is liberal, so they support it reflexively just to be The Good Guy. MySQL was always kind of a toy database until InnoDB, but it was free. Like the Linux kernel, "free" trumps "terrible design". It got popular because it was just good enough to backend most web apps during the Web 1.0 explosion. PostgreSQL has always been a solid enterprise database and if you don't care about support you can run your business on it for free just like MS-SQL. Only thing is it's niche-y; it's a powerful tool that hardly anyone actually uses, so it's hard to find jobs or engineers for it.
