The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know will not be 100%,” he continued. “I’m doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark.” Morgan Wallen

Quote II

“I think that the White House is looking for anything at this point to get away from this and take a victory lap and say, ‘Yep, we got the guy or the Taliban got the guy who is responsible for all this,’ and try to put this behind them,” Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover

Quote III

“So this week is lesbian visibility week, and as the first openly queer person to hold the position of press secretary for the president of the United States, I’m honored to welcome the cast of the ‘L word’ and ‘Generation Q,’ two Showtime series that chronicles the friendship, the love, the challenges and the triumphs of strong, funny, and resilient queer women!” WH Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre

Silly Americans! What stranded Americans in Sudan or Afghanistan? It's National Dyke Week.

All good things come to an end. But on the other hand, Mother Nature hates a vacuum.

When Lorraine Fuller and her husband bought their Apsley, Ont. property over 15 years ago, it was brimming with wildlife thanks to the wetland that made up their backyard. But seemingly overnight, the pond was drained with no animal in sight.

Over the years they have owned this vacation home, located about 45 minutes north of Peterborough, Fuller said she has seen blue herons, a variety of ducks, turtles, otters, frogs, salamanders, and beavers.

Since it’s a 100-acre lot, Fuller said they bought an amphibious vehicle that could take them from one side of the property to the other out on the water. She adds they also recently built a bunkie in November – which set them back about $75,000 – at the top of the property overlooking the wetland.

Since he is ours it's not too late to take Hunter Biden behind the woodshed.

Democratic President Joe Biden was excoriated by many online after he made a bizarre claim about who is responsible for raising children in the United States.

Biden and first lady Jill Biden honored educators who were nominated to be teachers of the year for 2023 at the White House when the president made the comments.

“I never thought, as a student of history, I never thought I’d be a president who's fighting against elected officials trying to ban and banning books,” Biden said during his speech. “I’ve never met a parent wants a politician dictating what their kid can learn and what they can think, or who they can be.”

Talk about penis envy.

Personally, I’m all for shaming people who drive F-150s and Escalades by themselves back and forth to the office every day. But there is the worry that by deflating tires, instead of starting a healthy conversation, these activists will turn people away from supporting the goals that they hope to achieve. The New York Post already labeled them “climate goons,” and according to email screenshots posted on the Tyre Extinguishers’ Twitter account, they’ve been called much worse. (It should be said that the group explicitly says to steer clear of SUVs used by people with disabilities, among other specific vehicles, and claims to focus its actions on luxury SUVs that are deemed unnecessary.)

Tucker Carlson’s surprise departure from Fox News on Monday was not the only exit at Fox News Media. Angry viewers dropped their subscriptions in the wake of him being shown the door from the network and his own show.

As Breitbart News reported, Fox News suddenly announced it would part ways with the opinion anchor and commentator who hosted the highly rated Tucker Carlson Tonight.

Fox Has a Secret ‘Oppo File’ to Keep Tucker Carlson in Check, Sources Say
Eight sources tell Rolling Stone that the network’s top brass has been stockpiling information on the departing primetime host

FOX NEWS EXECUTIVES have in their possession a dossier of alleged dirt on Tucker Carlson should he attack the network in the wake of his departure, eight sources at and close to the network tell Rolling Stone.

When Fox announced Carlson’s departure on Monday, the network presented the separation as amiable. But according to one former on-air Fox personality, the anchor and some of the channel’s top executives are parting ways on “the worst” and “messiest possible terms.” Indeed, in private communications released last month as part of the Dominion-Fox lawsuit, the now-fired Fox host gossiped that one such exec “hates us,” claiming she was covertly working against him and other hosts.

But if Carlson attempts to torch the network he’s leaving, Fox is prepared, the sources say.

Eight people familiar with the situation tell Rolling Stone that Fox News and its communications department — long led by the notoriously aggressive Irena Briganti — has assembled damaging information about Carlson. One source with knowledge calls it an “oppo file.” Two sources add that Fox is prepared to disclose some of its contents if execs suspect that Carlson is coming after the network.

Bernie Sanders bank account must be flush. He's not going to run for POTUS.

Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will bow out of running for president in 2024 and endorse President Joe Biden instead, according to an interview published Tuesday.

Sanders attempted to secure the Democratic nomination in the 2016 and 2020 presidential primaries, but finished second in both races.

For 2024, the 81-year-old Sanders told The Associated Press he will “do everything” in his power “to see the president is reelected.”

He didn't need the extra credit to become tonight's Genius Award Winner.

A drunk clubber drove on pavements in a town centre then hit a traffic island, lost a hubcap and bit a police officer after trying to urinate in front of him.

Ashmit Limbu, 29, was spotted weaving his silver VW Golf around Ashford, Kent, after stumbling out of a club during the early hours of February 18.

He was so intoxicated he could barely drive the vehicle properly, mounting a grass verge to reach another road and almost hitting a shopfront.

As a former sports official I think this is fantastic. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Deptford Township Little League starts new rule to cut down on spectators yelling at umps
"They're coming here, they're being abused, they don't need that," said Deptford Township Little League President Don Bozzuffi.

DEPTFORD TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) -- A new rule at a South Jersey Little League organization is being implemented to cut down on spectators fighting with volunteer umpires.

For years, officials with the Deptford Township Little League say a small number of spectators yell at the umpires for calls they don't like.

Now league officials say if you fight with the umps, you could find yourself making the calls.

The organization known as No Labels is spearheading an effort to put a third-party ticket on the ballot in every state.

The group — founded in 2010 to combat rising political polarization — has said it is raising at least $70 million for the effort and is planning a convention in Dallas for April 2024. No Labels has condemned Donald Trump and Joe Biden as equally extreme and claims that their likely nominations by the major parties require another choice.

41 I increasingly see the James Caan Rollerball as one of the most insightful and deep dystopian movies of the 70's. A world run by giant Corporations who own everything and everyone - too spot on!

I love how it is a very deceptive movie, on the surface it pretends to be just some sci-fi violent sports show, and that Jonathan is just a future dumb jock - everyone treats him that way. But this "dumb jock' figures out all the lies when no one else can or will - he figures out that all the libraries are gone, that everything is "fixed", and that everyone is controlled.

And the real Big question he has to answer is - How does a man keep his Integrity when EVERYONE is against him - his bosses, his friends, his entire society? How does he stand completely on his own?

60 Not gonna lie, I'm skeptical of that third-party group's motivations. I vote for a lot of third parties over the years so it's not like I'm totally turned off by it, but they'd have to offer a lot more than some limpdick pseudolibertarian or green-party hippie loser to get me fired up. OTOH if it winds up being Trump and a crappy VP vs. the crazy left, and the former offers little to convince me that he's learned from his numerous mistakes, who knows what I'll do on election day.

Hybrids and electric cars are fair game. We cannot electrify our way out of the climate crisis - there are not enough rare earth metals to replace everyone’s car and the mining of these metals causes suffering. Plus, the danger to other road users still stands, as does the air pollution (PM 2.5 pollution is still produced from tyres and brake pads).

82 As if downtown Portland wasn't desolate enough already:

'No one has done this': Portland plans to create a zero-emission delivery zone downtown. The 16-block zone will be off limits to traditional, gas-powered delivery vehicles.

Rivera said the city will create distribution hubs, likely on the east side, where larger loads can be broken down and delivered by electric bike to smaller private businesses.

The city plans to partner with B-line Sustainable Urban Delivery, a local business that specializes in zero-emissions delivery tricycles and will provide incentives to companies as they work to adjust to the new rules.

Mr Putin is going to insist that things get messy, especially next summer. It's his way of interfering with our election.

Tori Nuland and Robert Kagan want a unified media narrative on Ukraine

Otherwise, it will become a huge liability for Brandon and he will lose to Trump

by ditching Tucker, they also get rid of Glenn Greenwald, Col, MacGregor and others that speak against the war. My guess is Molly will get her walking papers too

Suzanne Scott, supposedly the one that fired Tucker, admitted in deposition that Murdoch told her that he didn't want Trump on his network

look for less appearances by Trump on Fox

It's a surplus Airport delivery truck for caterers to replenish the food supplies aboard commercial aircraft. The box is mounted on a "scissors-lift" device, fitted between the truck chassis and box.

At the airport, that box would be lifted to meet up with the front-most door on the right side of the airplane, opposite the passenger jetway which joins on the left side of the plane.

Given the extreme height of the box, as shown, it's at maximum extension. Which is it's least stable, most wobbly condition. No, nope, nopety nope NOPE! I'll rappel off of a 30 story building, but I would not walk that ramp with the whole Pirates of the Caribbean behind me with cutlasses, curses, catcalls and jeers. NOPE!

"As to your dam request the beavers first must fill out a dam permit prior to the start of this type of dam activity, my first dam question to you is: are you trying to discriminate against my Spring Pond Beavers or do you require all dam beavers throughout this State to conform to said dam request? If you are not discriminating against these particular beavers, please send me completed copies of all those other applicable beaver dam permits. Perhaps we will see if there really is a dam violation of Part 301..."

They think that they are clever - the zone consists almost entirely of governmental buildings and the local electric utility - organizations that can simply pass on the cost of having their deliveries made solely by electric tricycles.

That would be a smart move. As the tax base, well employed people and businesses, leave the city, the city will have to make up for the shortfall by going after money from the other state citizens. Do you know what's interesting about this case to me? When Megyn Kelly was fired from NBC, we knew exactly what she was making on her way out - almost $70 million. We know absolutely nothing about what Tucker had to settle for on his way out. Lots of speculation about why he's gone, but not a peep about what he did (or didn't) get paid for getting gone.

I think royal titles were a vestige of slave times. I know a guy whose first name is Sir and a woman named Princess, legal names by the way. Both good people who had nothing to do with what their parents named them. No more than the children of today named VasQuacious or Dar'alion. Names don't mean crap, people are what they are from the inside and that's where we need to look.

321 Remember how it was a big conspiracy nutjobbery to claim the the Covid virus had HIV inserts in it?

Well, turns out that our good buddy Ralph Baric, was actually doing this work -- inserting coronavirus spikes on HIV virus backbones.

This work went on into whatever they were doing at Wuhan.
Posted by: publius,

You are referring the early 2020 research and study out of India that the COV-Spikes are contained in an HIV lipid (?) envelope? Weird how that was never followed up, then buried, and people caught aggressive hell for pointing this out.

So basically people got willingly vaxxed with trillions of HIV. Literal "bug chasers". Lmao

Probably has to do with the local water. Same goes for NYC bagels. NYC bagels (particularly Brooklyn/Queens; never liked Manhattan bagels -- go figure) are the best. The rest of the country has no clue. It's the water, not only to make the dough but to boil them in as well. I've had fresh 'bagels' in Jersey and Upstate NY. They aren't bagels. They're these big, fluffy, inflated cartoon tire-like beasts with a soft, bread-like interior. No bite or chew whatsoever.

Yeah, I like a good bagel. With cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, thin-sliced red onion and lemon zest. Breakfast (and breath) of champions!

338 RickZ. No argument, but I can't have the onion or caper, sorry.

Local pizza joint (small chain) in Houston.

They have ALL of their ingredients flown in from NYC, weekly. And their baked Ziti IS THE REAL THING. I've had the real thing as cooked by Italian mommas, telling me eaaaatttt! Morrrre! And this is THAT Ziti.

Question for you, sir. Of all the store-bought bagels, what's the least objectionable, for you?

I find a Lender's EGG BAGEL, suitably nuked, then cream cheesed, surprisingly tasty. Their plain bagel SUCKS! Your thoughts?

Never got one, so I'm a pure-blood.

When I first saw my PC Doc (2/22) after about two years due to the Dempanic, she tried mightily to get me to have the clot shot. I started to relate all the problems we knew then with the vax, including the lies, and she stopped me saying she didn't want to talk politics. I told her, 'Doc, the whole COVID-1984 Dempanic is about politics.'

It still unsettles me that I, with no medical knowledge and no night in an Holiday Inn Express, saw what she, a trained medical professional, did not. The implications overall are not inspiring as too many fell easily into line for Totalitarianism, in this instance, all in the name of 'the health and safety of the public'. That sounds like something straight out of 1789 France. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

341 Jim, excellent question.

Toufayan Bakery, the bagel link.

https://tinyurl.com/tcp9x7cj

I've kept these in my fridge (the everything ones as in is there anything else?). I toast the cut side, let it cool, then add butter or butter and cream cheese. Sometimes the weather just says, 'Fuck that. I'm not going out to get a bagel.'

343 Jim,

The one thing I'll add is that one can never eat a store-bought bagel without toasting it. A fresh bagel, even if cold, is quite enjoyable untoasted. The Toufayan ones aren't as robust (thick), but in a pinch (and here you're pinched in big ol' Texas), they'll do. I eat them. I just add a little extra toasted sesame seeds (a jar of which I keep around and I use for topping stir-fries and such). Makes food look pretty. Tasty, too.

Penn Stater here. Rolling Rock was a religion. The Skeller would bring a case of ponies (7 oz. bottles) for $5 and rent a bottle opener for $0.50.

Anheuser Busch eliminated the charm. What they sell is not Rolling Rock.

345 RickZ

Store bought. 20 seconds in the microwave, FINISH in the toaster. SUBLIME.

Trust me on this, it is superior. Hot DEEP to the inside, as close to "out of the oven" as you're going to get out of a bag.

Toaster provides the slight brown, the outer crisp, the texture. But the Nuke gets it hot down to the core.

Trust me now and believe me later! /hans&franz
