The Morning Report — 4/21/23

fangbangyou.jpg

Good morning, kids. I meant to mention this yesterday but in case you missed it, DC was nearly swamped in a torrent of flop sweat as wide and deep as the Yellow River from the brow and underwear of Eric Swalwell, courtesy of Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy, and everyone knows it, but thanks for entertaining.”

That was Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), in a Homeland Security Committee hearing last Wednesday. The Georgia Republican was responding to Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.). During questioning of Homeland Security boss Alejandro Mayorkas, Swalwell criticized Greene for calls to defund the FBI.

Greene responded by evoking Swalwell’s liaisons with the Chinese spy. Espionage by a hostile foreign power is a serious matter, but committee members were not eager to review the case.

“Accusations of an affair with a Chinese spy,” interjected Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) “those are engaging in personalities, and those words should be taken down, and the gentle lady should not be able to speak anymore in this hearing.” Observers might wonder if Greene’s “accusation” had any substance.

Pause for a moment to state, whatever you think of MTG, this is exactly what is needed for every GOP congressman and senator every time they are in front of a camera, in a hearing or in the well of the Senate or House 24/7/365. Also, I want to remind you that Dan Goldman was among the pieces of shit who mocked and sneered at their own constituents, essentially labeling them Trump stooges for daring to testify in a hearing against the lethal and intentional ideologically driven incompetence of Alvin Bragg who has unleashed a crime wave on New York. Back to our story.

“Fang took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 reelection campaign,” the report notes, and “Swalwell’s office was directly aware of these activities on its behalf.” Fang also “helped place at least one intern in Swalwell’s office” and Fang “interacted with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years.” At similar events across the country, Fang showcased her skills.

The Chinese spy “also engaged in sexual or romantic relationships with at least two mayors of midwestern cities over a period of about three years,” the Axios report reveals. She was a sleeper agent of a different sort, and the late Rush Limbaugh dubbed her “PoonFang.” When the FBI began sniffing around, PoonFang “unexpectedly returned to China,” but the story does not end there.

Swalwell blamed the Axios report on President Trump, and said he no longer had contact with the Chinese agent. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) kept Swalwell on the House Intelligence Committee, a move that doubtless pleased PoonFang’s Communist Party handlers. As the Axios report notes, Swalwell was not their only big score.

“Access to local political offices can give Beijing’s intelligence operatives opportunities to collect information on communities of Chinese descent in the United States. A high-profile example of this occurred in the 2000s when China’s Ministry of State Security allegedly recruited a San Francisco-based staffer in Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s office.”

Feinstein listed that person as “office director” and the Chinese recruit even attended consular functions for the senator. When the story broke, Feinstein forced the spy to retire. The FBI brought no charges, and the San Francisco Democrat escaped any serious investigation of damage the spy may have caused during nearly 20 years on her staff. . .

. . . Back in 2019, Joe Biden said that China’s Communist leaders were “not bad folks.” Biden ended a Trump-era program to hunt down Chinese spies who rip off state secrets, trade secrets, and American intellectual property. Despite open ties to China’s military, Chinese national Tang Juan gained access to UC Davis and federal prosecutors suddenly dropped charges against five Chinese nationals also tied to China’s military.

China recently deployed a surveillance balloon that traversed the entire continental United States, including sensitive military bases. China also operates police stations in America, now a target-rich environment for the communist regime.

On a recent podcast, friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh noted that China throughout its long history is an "o-fer," in that it has never won a war and, if I recall the discussion correctly, has gotten the shit kicked out of it militarily on many an occasion. That said, with the situation as it stands today, they are a red nether hair's breadth away from world domination probably without ever having to fire a shot (whatever the final outcome of the 1,500-year "crusade" [pun intended] of global Islam notwithstanding).

There is no doubt in my mind that Biden and much of the Democrat Party and far too many in the GOP are in the pocket of the Chi-Coms. Plus, with the proliferation of Confucius Institutes on campuses across the country, Chinese agents in key industries especially our media, the red yellow peril is likely fueling much of the same anti-American discord that was once the purview of the Soviet Union from the 1920s until the fall of Communism.

The irony is that when we brought the Berlin Wall down, it fell right on our heads.

I agree with this author that America’s  ruling elite bears the overwhelming share of responsibility for the Biden catastrophe. It was they at all levels -- finance, corporate, governmental, security agencies, media and judiciary -- that engineered and enabled the Biden coup. And I also agree with the author that Biden has been an unprecedented domestic disaster. We will probably never recover from it, certainly never, if Biden gets a second term, which seems highly likely. . .

. . . I don’t agree with the author’s implication that China’s behavior is somehow “aggressive” or sinister. China today, like the West during the period 1600-1900, is the world’s supreme economic, surely the supreme industrial, power. Unsurprisingly, it is reaching out, utilizing all it has to offer in wealth and know-how, all over the world, to gain influence and advantage. Arguably, it is doing so less brutally than the West did during our period of irresistible dominance. . .

. . . The truth is that America’s insatiably avaricious corporate and financial elites long ago assured China’s supreme economic dominance through their colossally short-sighted, stupid act of transferring America’s productive might to China. Our elites’ wealth grew, in consequence, to astronomical levels through that astoundingly selfish collective decision. But now they do not like the world of declining American importance that their actions have created. The only way that world can be reversed, and some sort of return to American/Western dominance fashioned, is by convincing enough poorly informed Americans that China is a military “threat,” and then employing that mirage to justify a war. . .

. . . To the elites of the West, particularly of America, I would say:

You squandered the West’s economic supremacy for selfish reasons. It worked well for you, and now you enjoy a level of wealth never before seen in human history possessed by any class.  Instead of engineering wars, with China and Russia (another story), in an effort to artificially recreate the dominance you gave away, try to rebuild that dominance naturally, without war. You could start by trying to restore the institutions and ideas that created Western dominance in the first place: Celebration of excellence, a healthy patriotism and real science, rejection of all forms of civilizational self-loathing, and support for the traditional family.

Failing that, prepare for either permanent second place or an angry loser’s suicidal war.

Of course, that is the path that we are at this point inexorably on. On the morning that Joey Sponge-Brain Shit's Pants defiled the Bible by placing his black hand on it and was installed in the Oval Office, I wrote this:

. . . we are going to enter a phase of our lives where we will be confronted with situations, perhaps even of life and death, that are going to challenge us in ways that until recently seemed unimaginable. Not just physically and emotionally but in ways that will force us to confront who we are and what we believe as rational, decent, God-fearing human beings. If anyone thinks this is hyperbole, you have not been paying attention to what has been happening all around us for the past four years and longer.

Looking back on it, if I knew even then what I know now, I'd have stuck my head in an oven. A gas one, since it's hard to broil yourself to death, but if (that is, once) gas stoves are declared counter-revolutionary, that might be your only option.

In the interest of being optimistic, we can never know the future. The tyrants and thugs who control government and really more and more of our lives as our freedom diminishes in direct proportion to that control, are not infallible. Nor are the Chi-Coms and all the other bad actors around the world and in the Davos-Brussels-Beijing Axis. Some random event or events somewhere can have repercussions that, if not send all of them to the Infernal Reaches, at least give us the opportunity to begin to reverse course.

No election, no candidate, no individual is going to do that for us. Along with the cowards, poseurs and frauds there will be leaders. Not just in public life but in our own daily lives. It is we who, as William F. Buckley put it, have to stand athwart history and yell "Stop!" Just like that anonymous man in Tiananmen Square in 1989 who faced down a PLA tank column. No doubt what ultimately happened to him. If that was you in a similar situation, you have to be the one to decide if it's better to die on your feet than crawl around on your knees.

Have a good weekend. See you tomorrow on the hobby thread. Be there. Aloha.

15 Irony got nothing on it, to see President Pooper facing impeachment and indictment after the Democrats manufactured nonstop assaults against Trump as part of their coup. The cost to the country of the FBI misdeeds has been incalculable.

The FBI and DOJ were aided by MI6 and Aussie coconspirators, the domestic IC/DoD cabal, and-- most especially-- the Marxist Propaganda Press in all of this. World events probably won't allow us the luxury of time to take all deserving scalps, but a couple of prominent examples most certainly need to be made.

28 I happened upon a news item this morning about tranny murderer Audrey Hale’s manifesto. It seems the FBI doesn’t want to release it to the public as they deem it “too dangerous”…. Like somehow Hale’s insane scribblings reveal secret methods about how to conduct terror attacks or something. I mean the police took her out in like 5 minutes… it’s not like she’s a master of terrorist tradecraft. The bald-faced lying is really starting to piss me off. The FBI is a putrid, fetid state police enemy of freedom in the mold of the Stasi or KGB. It needs to be disbanded immediately….

42 Plaskett took issue with Taibbi's claim that the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency pressured Twitter to censor various news articles on its platform. While the agency did correspond with Twitter regarding the censorship of content on the platform, Taibbi acknowledged in a television interview that he mixed up the federal agency with the Center for Internet Security, a nonprofit that receives federal funding, during his testimony.

In the twitter files I read it was confusing about CISA vs CIS.
From that point, Taibbi writes that “regular meeting of the multi-agency Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF)” — attended by Twitter and “virtually every major tech firm [including] Facebook, Microsoft, Verizon, Reddit, even Pinterest, and many others” — had “FBI personnel, and – nearly always – one or two attendees marked ‘OGA’.”

“Meeting agendas virtually always included, at or near the beginning, an ‘OGA briefing,’ usually about foreign matters,” Taibbi writes.

OGA was CIA and FBI.

I think I disagree with this statement.

This is what is needed from *some* GOP politicians. All of them need be *able* to do it, but probably just one per committee (or something like that) *should* do it routinely.

The rest of the GOP politicians should largely remain quiet and throw out every procedural hurdle possible at every conceivable opportunity. Let the fire-breathers generate the soundbites while the parliamentarians obstruct and confound the opposition. Come together to wage rhetorical and procedural war in battles that can be won - like taking the screws to the administrative state through the budget process when the GOP holds the house.

Tough talk and good theater have their uses, especially in the infotainment age - but those theatrics serve no purpose in achieving the goal on their own. Having every politician engage in those theatrics will ruin the efficacy of the tactic.

As for this issue, it is just absolutely insane to suggest that states should have the right to legalize the murder of fully developed infant children, which is what many blue states have done. If they go for infanticide next will that also be a “states rights” issue? Ridiculous

Posted by: bill in arkansas

That's easy, promising to raise the penalty even higher. Right now it's - for instance - one guy with good credit paying an extra $40 a month while the guy with bad credit gets his $40. If they're buying the same average $300,000 house one pays $2040 a month and the other pays $1960. Not a big deal at this point monetarily for either. Until it becomes another campaign point of raising the penalty to ensure that the (D)'s can brag about making housing 'more affordable' to the poor.

MTG doubled down, accusing her GOP colleagues of 'doing the bidding' of Dems. She went to McCarthy’s office to talk about it & said: 'I don’t know how we’re ever going to accomplish anything when we can’t call people a liar when they’re lying.'"

It can't and won't happen. Not by them. Restoring trust and reindustrializing will require wholesale, large-scale reform (or even outright replacement) of all institutions in the country, from the government and academic to the corporate *and* various changes in incentive in law - things like changing the environmental regulatory structure and trade policies.

I don't think they can do it, and even if they could, I don't think they want to. This is their world. They built it. It is the summation of *decades* of diligent labor. I respectfully disagree. This might have been legitimate when Buckley said it, but I don't think it is anymore. We are now, I think, past the inflection point. Simply stopping it here, on this point, will not prevent failure. It could delay it perhaps, but probably not by much.

Stopping is no longer enough. Like Sisyphus, we have to roll the boulder back up the hill. It has to be stopped, yes, but it also has to be reversed. Throwing the vehicle into reverse gear as hurtles down the highway at 100 miles per hour - if it is even possible (and it might be) - is going to rough, shuddering, jarring and noisy.

For the amount of money one could give the least efficient organization on planet earth, if the millionaire believed in the Climate Change&trade hoax, there are a myriad of NGOs that would gladly take the money and return the proper amount of sucking up and issuing of virtual signaling points. I think that's not how it is structured. That $40 per month isn't a direct subsidy to some underqualified borrower. The underqualified borrow probably won't even know it's happening, which is lousy for buying votes.

If my understanding of this is correct, that extra fee (tax) goes to the FHA. The FHA will use the proceeds from that fee to underwrite part of the risk posed by underqualified borrowers. Those underqualified borrowers get lower rates than they should and if the default rate becomes problematic, the FHA will step in and backstop the lender (well, the owner of the mortgage - probably Fannie or Freddie) out of the fund.

If I understand it correctly, it's a permanent mortgage bailout scheme, not a borrower subsidy. That will be much more effective and permit higher effective leverage than a direct subsidy, and allow them to keep the housing bubble going an extra few years.

Here's the thing. I am against abortion AFTER a certain point. By scientific definition, LIFE begins at conception when a sperm fertilizes an egg and the cell divides into two.

The question remains when is life a human being? From personal experience, I am quite willing to compromise and state abortion up to 21 weeks. After that, it is the state-sanctioned taking of a human life. The thing is, no one on our side is willing to flip the narrative and onus on the baby killers by asking what they will compromise on. Their answer of course is nothing. And not only that, we want the freedom to kill the kid when the woman's vulva dilates, or water breaks. Some even up to two years AFTER birth, like Obama's science advisor. Why our side cannot or refuses to stick it to these people is ridiculous.

Sorry, Bernie, Minimum-Wage Hike Would Still Hurt Poor Workers Most

In 2021, 76.1 million workers age 16 and older in the United States were paid at hourly rates, representing 55.8 percent of all wage and salary workers.

bout 910,000 workers had wages below the federal minimum. Together, these 1.1 million workers with wages at or below the federal minimum made up 1.4 percent of all hourly paid workers.

Name 1 fucking business that worries about a 1.4% problem? Hell, finding a new vender for your biggest project or product offers 5 to 10% ROI.

135 Subsidizing someone who can't afford a $300K mortgage doesn't mean that person will be able to live within the means necessary to keep a $300K house.

Prior to when Reality came to visit in 2008, people who couldn't afford a $300k mortgage were living in homes where the priority was on square footage (apparently for bragging rights or something). The homes quickly went to shit because of the construction quality (artificially high spike in demand creates decreasing quality of supply due to a myriad of reasons) and what would normally be a nice neighborhood was now made up of large homes, with dirt "lawns", window fans, sagging gutters and other maintenance deferrals (one could only imagine the interior condition).

So the banks got ass raped twice, once on the non-existent downpayment, but the dramatic loss of equity in the property and improvements.

145 The college is also home to a program called CMCListens, the tip of an enormous bureaucracy centered in the Dean of Students office that aims to control discourse inside and outside the classroom. An online guide instructs students how to submit anonymous reports “to the appropriate senior staff” about anything “they find troubling at CMC, in just a few easy steps.” Such a reporting mechanism obviously generates “intelligence” of poor quality. That is beside the point. The design conditions students to think of themselves (and others) as minders and informants. No one can be sure who is listening and who is snitching.

That’s eliminating thousands of low-paying, unskilled, entry level positions. What will that mean for those people trying to get started in the workforce? My job as an usher was the first rung on a long ladder of work that lead me to where I am today. But what if that rung wasn’t there? If the minimum wage in 1979 had been suddenly raised from $2.90 to $10 an hour, thousands of people would have applied for the same job. It was stupid because they would buy food one meal at a time (e.g. one boiled egg from a convenience store vs. a dozen eggs +loaf of bread to cover breakfast for the week).

Funny, I don't think they'll be doing that anymore.

This view assumes the objective of Our Betters is to replace all privately-owned internal combustion vehicles with electric vehicles, one for one.

One of their objectives could be to significantly reduce the number of privately-owned vehicles. If EV prices are more than current individual IC engine vehicle owners can afford, what can they do? Well, they can ride mass transit and rent an EV when needed. They can get together with several others and buy or long-term lease an EV. Then they can time share it between them and carpool to work or the grocery store. A renter's nation can include more than houses and condos.

In this case, the FBI had evidence of what it now calls a crime in 2018 when Gillum almost became governor. No bust was made. The FBI — which has the ability to leak like a colander — said nothing to the press.

255 #120 I was quoting Walsh and the other NeverTrump dick he quoted for wrapping their NTism in a pro-life mantle. Sending it back to the states is the best possible outcome in the real world. And from his tweets I think he wants a [near?] total federal ban on all abortions and not only late-term/postnatal ones. Hinted at by retweeting this:
||Steve Deace @SteveDeaceShow
I literally just predicted on the show yesterday that Trump was going to violate every conservative orthodoxy in this primary, just out of spite for DeSantis. What makes this even dumber is he’s the man who overturned Roe. So the idea he can now lessen the disdain baby killers have for him is laughable. Anybody who thinks we ought to be killing babies past 15 weeks was never voting for him anyway. Thus, all he will do is risk a war with his own base, which is quantified in this thread. Completely stupid politics.||

Trump isn't supporting late-term 'abortions' or literal infanticide with any "leaving it to the states" position; and attacking him as if he's responsible for it in the future in blue states is a petty political move he hopes favours his candidate in the nomination race.

279 One of their objectives could be to significantly reduce the number of privately-owned vehicles.

280 WSJ:

Donald Trump has gained command of the GOP presidential-nomination race over Ron DeSantis, a new Wall Street Journal poll finds, with the former president building support across most parts of the primary electorate as the Florida governor has struggled on the national stage. Mr. DeSantis’s 14-point advantage in December has fallen to a 13-point deficit, and he now trails Mr. Trump 51% to 38% among likely Republican primary voters in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup.

281 I am convinced the abrupt departure of dan bongino from fox has something to do with the settlement that fox reached with dominion.

I think that is axiomatic.

There isn't a major network out there that would pay more for Bongino than whatever they were offering at Fox.

It would be more believable if Bongino said that as he is aging the tempo of a radio show, a podcast and a television show is taking its toll. Plus his interests in other pursuits is taking greater priority.

But he didn't say that. It was allegedly about the money. Now he and his support staff get nothing.

285 The Dominion decision over Fox blows the door wide open for the left to steal an election. Why would they not use it? Now they don’t have to worry or go through the inconvenience and expense of stuffing ballot boxes or harvesting. 297 The explosion late Thursday was far more powerful than anything Belgorod residents had experienced before. Witnesses reported a low hissing sound followed by a blast that made nearby apartment buildings tremble and shattered their windows.

It left a 20-meter (66-foot) -wide crater in the middle of a tree-lined avenue flanked by apartment blocks, damaged several cars and threw one vehicle onto a store roof. Two people were injured, and a third person was later hospitalized with hypertension, authorities said.

Immediately after the explosion, Russian commentators and military bloggers were abuzz with theories about what weapon Ukraine had used for the attack. Many of them called for strong retribution.

But about an hour later, the Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged that a weapon accidentally released by one of its own Su-34 bombers caused the blast. The ministry did not provide any further details, but military experts said the weapon likely was a powerful 500-kilogram (1,100-pound) bomb.

Actually, on his radio show he stressed that it had more to do with keeping up his hectic pace and the lack of family time than the money angle. I tend to believe him. Besides, Judge Jeanine is still there and she would be much easier to boot than Bongino who had terrific ratings. She and Maria Bartiromo were on the same page politically as Bongino.

310 Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is at the very tiptop of 'Unrepresentatives,' a project of Indivisible. "Want to take back the House in 2024? It runs through these 18 Districts." MAGA complicity is their sin. They don’t represent the voters of their district. (See unrepresentative18 dot org.) Regardless of Ezra & Co.'s latest adopted program, "Unrepresentative" will be the big centerpiece for the 2024 elections, period, imho. The House, The Senate, local races, all of their pasts is going to be somehow tied to being "deeply unrepresentative of the majority," & a why the progressives keep putting so much of their pretend passion into support of DIE.

Aside from that, if we poke around in Congress about longtime business connections with China, surely we'd find many. Why even Rep Madeliene Dean & hubby's much publicized bike business/scandal come to mind. How could such business conflicts not be known & properly vetted, especially when a son was a senior writer & Deputy Director of Messaging at the White House during O & Joe administrations. It beats me. Aloha.

BUT that opens a huge door for oppressive countries to involuntarily transition male athletes so they can dominate international women's sports. Many countries are doing worse for less.
