The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“A decision to close a store is one we take very seriously and is based on a variety of factors, including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability and store performance,” Rite Aid spokesperson Catherine Carter

Quote II

“The lockdown was the biggest shift in wealth in human history. I blame President Trump for the lockdown.” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Quote III

“The subpoena was issued with a ‘valid legislative purpose’ in connection with the ‘broad’ and ‘indispensable’ congressional power to ‘conduct investigations.’ It is not the role of the federal judiciary to dictate what legislation Congress may consider or how it should conduct its deliberations in that connection." NY District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil

What do you think of when you hear "equal partner"? If it's Canada, you are incorrect.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing new questions about his government’s military spending commitments after a report suggested he has privately told NATO officials Canada will never meet the military alliance’s two-per-cent-of-GDP spending target.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that a secret Pentagon assessment — part of a trove of documents leaked to the Discord messaging app and social media sites earlier this month — says Canada’s “widespread” military deficiencies are “straining partner relationships and alliance contributions.”

Asked about the report in Ottawa on Wednesday, Trudeau told reporters that Canada remains committed to NATO and investing in Canada’s military, but he did not answer whether he has ruled out Canada meeting the NATO spending target.

“I’ve continued to say and will always say that Canada is a reliable partner to NATO, a reliable partner around the world with our military investments, with the support we give Canadians. We will continue to do that,” he said.

I would call him a sleazy little weasel. But that would be belittling sleazy little weasels.

Minivans aren't cool. Until now. This could be the perfect minivan.

This Sci-Fi Monster Is Lexus' New Minivan, Complete With 48-Inch TV

With its limo-style partition, this global luxury minivan (would) bring flavor to our vanilla segment.

The 2024 Lexus LM "Luxury Mover" minivan debuted at 2023 Auto Shanghai, and it's so full of luxurious badassery that we'll forgive it for being, well, a minivan with sliding side doors and all that jazz. Lexus expands the second-gen LM's reach (the first-gen was launched in 2020 in China and other parts of Asia) to include 60 countries worldwide, including Europe and Japan. And no, one of those countries is not, as far as we know, the United States, so don't get all pumped up about shopping for an upscale Lexus minivan if a regular ol' Toyota Sienna just isn't cutting it for ya.

A partition to block out the little tax-exemptions? Awesome.

Senior IRS agent blows whistle, alleging Biden DOJ thwarting criminal prosecution of Hunter Biden
Whistleblower account to inspector general, notification to Congress calls into question AG Merrick Garland testimony.

A decorated supervisory IRS agent has reported to the Justice Department's top watchdog that federal prosecutors appointed by Joe Biden have engaged in "preferential treatment and politics" to block criminal tax charges against presidential son Hunter Biden, providing evidence as a whistleblower that conflicts with Attorney General Merrick Garland's recent testimony to Congress that the decision to bring charges against Biden was being left to the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware.

It's not easy being a landlord. Airbnb owner hit with huge utility bills.

Couple Take Revenge on Airbnb Host by Using 120 Tonnes of Water

A Chinese couple visiting South Korea took revenge on the Airbnb host who refused to cancel their booking by using over 120 tonnes of water as well as thousands of dollars worth of gas, electricity and other utilities.

A Seoul Airbnb owner recently experienced a nightmare scenario in which guests went out of their way to waste as much water, electricity, and gas as possible during their stay. It all started when a Chinese couple booked a stand-alone villa in Seoul on Airbnb for 25 days without checking its location in the South Korean capital. When they arrived and realized the place was in the outer suburbs, they decided to contact the owner and ask for a refund, claiming that traveling to and from the city center was too inconvenient. However, the host refused, arguing that the booking had been confirmed and the payment made in full. The couple seemed to accept the situation, but they were secretly plotting to make the host pay…

The failure to plan.............

A top Scottish ultra-marathon runner who was disqualified for using a car during a race has blamed an injury and jetlag for her decision to break the rules and then accept a trophy for third place.

Joasia Zakrzewski is facing calls for a life ban after being disqualified from the 2023 GB Ultras Manchester to Liverpool 50-mile race on 7 April, after it was later discovered she had travelled by car for about 2.5 miles.

However the 47-year-old from Dumfries told BBC Scotland that her behaviour had not been malicious – and that she had only got in a friend’s car because she had been limping and wanted to tell marshals that she was withdrawing. GPS data later showed the car covered one of those miles in one minute and 40 seconds.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said a fisherman called 911 after he found a black Jeep submerged in the south side of Lake O' the Pines. He told dispatchers that the Jeep was about forty feet from the boat ramp.

Deputies and a local wrecker crew arrived about 20 minutes later, and when they started preparing to remove the Jeep from the lake they discovered a person was still inside and moving.

44 'The lockdown was the biggest shift in wealth in human history. I blame President Trump for the lockdown.' Robert F. Kennedy, Jr."

at this point, so do I. Trump kept that terrorist pos Fauci (and evil Birx) front and center, running their murderous narrative, even as they trashed Trump on CNN and the networks. This was an abysmal failure by Trump. Trump had The Great Barrington Declaration full of Real Men of Science, yet bowed down to DeepState terrorists Fauci/Birx.

A half million died because Trump promoted those liars, even as he suggested hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin might be effective. I see no clear way out on that issue.

Yeah, he was being political ... I have to play along, have to support the shutdowns, have to inflate with $7 trillion to save BigBox and Google. Then when re-elected I will make it right.

No, he had all the science to know to shut down those murderers ... he listened to Ivanka who got better seats in Manhattan restaurants for recommending evil Birx.

MAYBE Trump is still the best hope because "He Fights". But he did not fight on that crucial issue. But that does leave us in dire straits. God help us.

98 >>Trump could have reigned in Faucci and the other evil fucks. But he didn't. And he certainly pushed for and got the wonderful Kung Flu pricks.

>>So as much as I liked Trump's presidency, it was in no way perfect.

Can you remind of which presidency was perfect?

Fauci was considered the savior of the world when not just the US but the entire world was being locked down by every single western leader other than in Sweden. He would have been impeached again had he tried to remove Fauci and Fauci still would have remained in charge. Fauci was the highest paid civil servant in the US and one of the longest tenured, pretending he could have been removed or even damaged back then when he is still being protected now when his guilt is obvious is kind of silly. It wasn't that long ago, we all remember what was going on.

The left ran an OP against the world and they spent decades planning for it. Trump actually isn't Batman, just a guy, and nobody else on the planet was going to remove the head of the infectious disease leader of the NIH in the middle of a pandemic either, not even Ron. The bad guys won that won.

When the Canadian Armor unit sent to the Balkans was being brought back, the Russian transport ship conveying them decided in mid-ocean that the Canadian government had to pay the crew directly instead of through the owners, who the crew felt were too far in arrears in their pay. They pretty much sat in the Atlantic until the Canadians said OK and paid for the return of pretty much every functional tank they owned.
I don't remember the outcome but I suspect the Canadians paid.

127 Anybody catch Dementia Joe's latest decree:

"Homebuyers with good credit scores will soon encounter a costly surprise: a new federal rule forcing them to pay higher mortgage rates and fees to subsidize people with riskier credit ratings who are also in the market to buy houses.

The fee changes will go into effect May 1 as part of the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s push for affordable housing, and they will affect mortgages originating at private banks across the country. The federally backed home mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will enact the loan-level price adjustments, or LLPAs.

Mortgage industry specialists say homebuyers with credit scores of 680 or higher will pay, for example, about $40 per month more on a home loan of $400,000. Homebuyers who make down payments of 15% to 20% will get socked with the largest fees."

The people running Chicago do a pretty good job of keeping "the wrong type of people" out of the "nice" area. There are murders and shootings constantly in the low income areas and no one cares. If there is one gunshot in The Miracle Mile all hell breaks loose. So, unless the diversity crowd decides to do some major rioting, which is a distinct possibility, the sanctimonious democrats in town for the convention will be fine. They can hit the Disney store, the Nike store, the popcorn place, and the Cheesecake Factory, and they won't get mugged. Personally, I'm hoping the yute decide to riot.

I don't believe that. Trump could have promoted a thousand Real Men of Science to show the Fauci BS experiment was not science, it was murder. Instead he made hints that early treatment might work .. but Fauci murder a half million, and Trump kept him front and center.

This follows Trump's pattern of hiring DeepStaters that openly hated his positions on controlling the border, or other of his priorities. Coulter was right, it seemed he really really wanted the NY Times and his enemies to love him. That was more important than "accomplish the mission" he promised to the voters at big rallies.

Achilles' heel and all that I guess ... now allegedly Jarvanka will stand down this election (and in his next administration?), because he knows people understand he was submissive to his dear daughter the Manhattan Liberal.

154 >>Sadly, I think that is a very accurate summary. Trump was juggling running chainsaws and I understand how he might feel like a senior government employee with decades in the medical complex should be trustworthy. Once the Birx Fauci Pfizer complex got a running start, there was no way Trump could have shut them down in a timely manner!

He spent 4 years juggling running chainsaws with many in his own party providing the fuel. For the most part he did a pretty amazing job and it's sad that many on our side seem to forget he actually delivered more results for us in things we really care about than any president including Reagan in our lifetimes.

He's far from perfect and his PT Barnum act grates on me. But it's who he is and on the whole it's a small price for his relentless fighting and willingness to stand in the breach for us when nobody else is willing to do it. That goes a long way with me.

If I was him I'd take the billions and the super model wife and live like a god. The fact he has all that and risks it all to keep fighting, I can overlook a lot. In my mind he might be the best shot we have at keeping our country.

I don't think that's realistic. All of that ignores the environment we were living in back then when you could get cancelled for even suggesting masks didn't work. It was a mass hysteria, mob environment.

Trump asked for 2 weeks of lockdown and then to start reopening. He famously said over and over that the cure could not be worse than the problem and he started saying it in March of 2020 and was hammered for saying it. The entire media establishment tried to destroy him over that and he got very little support from any politicans on our side.

In hindsight there are a lot of things we can all say that should have been done but ignoring the worldwide hysteria that was going on at that point when people were wearing masks inside their own houses seems to get forgotten. Fauci was considered a god by not just the media but most of the population. Nobody was overcoming that.

Sounds like he's playing it smart, honestly. The D's smoky back room is obviously looking for an alternative to Slow Joe And The Hoe regime, they know that a huge swath of voters rightly blame the entrenched bureaucracy for fucking up their lives for the last 3 years.

They will use messaging that Trump and Biden were both bad and they're now the new beginning. And just like that, a vast black hole in the media record will appear so that CNN, ABC et al breathlessly remind us that they were always against the evil Trumpy vax and all those screenshots and videos of what they actually said are traitorous misinformation from deplorable wrongthinkers who must be censored for the greater good.

Only question is whether JQ Public is dumb enough to fall for it.

When you say WE have the science you are talking about a country that now believe men can magically turn into women and have periods. Playing politics? They wanted to impeach him for saying the cure can't be worse than the problem. The vast majority of the country didn't give a shit about science, nor did the world. They believed Fauci and the hype. Be mad at that.

Let's suppose he did what you wanted. Let's even pretend he could have fired Fauci despite the fact he couldn't.

How was he going to force Gavin Newsom to open CA? How about Cuomo opening NY? Hell, DeSantis closed the beaches in Florida. Everyone trusted "the science!" but a handful of us. All of these things happened because governors have the right to run their own states. Kids are still wearing masks in some schools in CA.

It's now common knowledge that Covid was a rich country's disease, and most of the 3rd world did nothing and was fine. Which is what people like me were saying just 3 months into it.

I also remember Trump criticizing Sweden for their fairly open policies, and now it's also admitted that Sweden had far less overall deaths (by FAR) than any other country in Europe. Trump didn't just do the wrong thing, he attacked the people who were doing the right thing.

Once again, I am not a fan of his except I get an odd feeling about the governmental approach to vaccines. Something is causing problems with autism, and it correlates to a number of things including the expansion of the childhood vaccine schedule, and now Covid shots.

There seems to be something pretty big going on, and no one seems to be willing to even discuss it.

They are, but the total destruction usually exists in a fairly narrow swath, and the rest of the community is intact, and able to render aid to those whose homes are destroyed. In the case of a hurricane, or earthquake, the destruction may not be 100% everywhere, but it is so widespread that few people are able to freely give help.

the video's are terrible, but they're not like hurricanes or earthquakes, things which hit entire regions. It's hard to say, and I don't mean to seem insensitive to those who suffer. But even tonight in Oklahoma, only a tiny fraction of the people living in the immediate area were affected by the tornadoes, the rest just saw a hard rainstorm. That's why living where they happen isn't really that big a deal. People should have storm shelters, of course.

I was able to get all the water pushed out of the tank with a single air tank charge. I had put a 240V receptacle and well as 120V down there at the well house when I redid the service back in 2013. So I could've taken an air compressor down there if need be, but I didn't want to go to the trouble if I didn't have to.

Anyway, once I got the water out, it wouldn't hold air, just spewed out the pipe. That confirms the diaphragm/bladder had ruptured.

I got it charged back up properly. I did have to go back to the shop and pump the air tank up again to have enough pressure to do that. That stopped the short cycling, and it's working temporarily.

So I need a new pressure tank, which I'll get on in a few days. With air in direct contact with the water, it won't last long. Air will just dissolve in the water and the tank will fill up again. How long that takes, I'm not sure. But not long relatively speaking.

In retrospect I rushed it with 30 years. The thing with collector car values seems to me to be what people in their 50s feel nostalgic about from when they were kids, at least besides those few rare expensive special cars. So more like 40-50 years. I am sure you remember when besides Nomads station wagons were as despised as minivans are now. Of course, with all the insanity of now it's hard to predict what will happen in 50 years. The current 10 year olds may have no more interest in old cars than we have in old refrigerators

295 So I need a new pressure tank, which I'll get on in a few days. With air in direct contact with the water, it won't last long. Air will just dissolve in the water and the tank will fill up again. How long that takes, I'm not sure. But not long relatively speaking.

I just replaced one here this week. Bladder was shot. It would short cycle after a couple hundred gallons of use. It was a 23 gallon I think, replaced it with a 30.

There is a difference between the diaphragm tanks and the true bladder tanks. This tank, and all the ones I've messed with were diaphragm type. I think with a true bladder type, you can replace the bladder. You can't fix a diaphragm tank without tearing it apart.

Here's a video of a guy attempting to replace the bladder on a large bladder tank. It's a hoot -- he learns as he goes along. Note he discovers a pipe inside:

The old air over water pressure tanks used a device called a snifter valve. Also an "AVC" (air volume control) valve.

I've never seen one of these systems, but I've read about it. The AVC vents excess air. The snifter valve let the system suck air somehow. Both were controlled by float valves inside the tank.

This was to prevent water logging, and also vent any excess that might build up. I read how these worked exactly one time years ago, but I've forgotten.

I guess you've all seen that the FDA has now made some big changes on the Coof "vaccine" recommendations. The original "monovalent" jabs are no longer authorized for use. Only the "bivalent", and then only *one dose* for most of the population.

That is, if you are un-poison---uh, unvaccinated, the FDA now says you should get only one dose of the new bivalent.

They are doing happy talk about this, but this an admission, they don't want too many more of this garbage delivered.

The Coof "vaccines" fall under the EUA and "Countermeasures" of the PREP act (signed by W. Bush, protecting us agin' biowarfare and all that good stuff. Nothing but a sop to Pharma and Big Hospital).

Most normal vaccines that have immunity fall under the VICP program for injuries. The Coof falls under something else, the CICP. The bar here is even higher than the VICP, and it's not even really funded.

So lots of luck to those 10K or better.

I remember when I first encountered SOB board years ago. I thought it was absolute crap. "Cheap pressboard" many called it. I was about 20, IIRC, and working summers with an electrician.

Some house we were wiring was using that stuff for the subfloors. Second floor looked very thin thickness. They had a leak in the roof before it was really in the dry -- I think someone had opened up a hole for something -- some screw up between different subs.

Anyway, that stuff got wet and went to shit fast. Somebody stepped through and kicked a hole in it.

Ditch the grey rubberized membrane. It is not a suitable flooring substrate, at all.

Some mat, some resin, cures HARD. That rubberized shit will kick off flooring, now and forever.

Rubberized membrane? Then finish-nail down some 1/4" Hardi Backer over it, and grout/fiber-tape over the seams.

Now you can install flooring.

Flooring MUST have rock solid substrate, underneath. Period. Always. Full Stop.

I well recall us getting a call one early spring weekend some seven years ago from a friend down at our place in Sussex. High winds had lifted and folded the heavy rubberized membrane on the porch roof of our place (about 1/3 of the total roofed area).

I drove down the next day, climbed up and sure enough, it was done for. Luckily, I was able to reach the contractor we had hired the previous year for a major renovation. We worked out that he could get a metal roof installed in the whole roof in less than a week. Done and done.

The kitchen needs updating but it is large and not without its appeal. I am just done sinking money into this place. The one thing that I have going for me here is space, and a bit more land than the neighbors.

My recollection is cases were beginning around September, 2019, though nobody knew what it was. I remember reading here in Nov.-Dec. (yeah, I know, real scientific) how some Morons had this flu-like thing that lasted for weeks, that they just couldn't seem to shake it. But then they got over it. Around February, 2020, is when calling it The Wuhan Flu became racist, with our glorious commie former mayor, Big Bird, even telling us that is we don't go to Chinatown to celebrate Chinese New Year's, we're racist. Just after that began the hospitalization theater, with too many in the medical profession having major supporting roles in the shortly thereafter COVID-1984 Dempanic Lockdown production. Then came the 'vaccines', another felony murder aspect to this show.

Now we're told to 'no hard feelings; forgive and forget'. Uh-huh. Sure. I still have to wear my mask to my doctors' offices! Effing doctors! Who really should know better but they still have their part to play in this worldwide drama.

Now comes WWIII. Such fun!

BB&B has been a useful retailer for me; the big one near my barber has pharmacy stuff like ibuprofen and aftershave at lower prices than CVS (though not lower than Target). But that one is not swarmed with people, and the mall it's in has been "under renovation" since Hurricane Ida in '21. The Target there has done away with traditional checkout lanes and has rude employees now, so I'm not going in there. That mall, and BB&B, may go under soon.

366 2019? I had something that I still think might have been the coof in December of that year. Knocked me flat, and I had to go to Urgent Care, where they diagnosed a bacterial sinusitis and gave me antibiotics. Things cleared up after that. But who knows if that was riding atop something viral? I didn't get sick again until June of last year, and that was mild by comparison.

367 I flat refused to continue wearing a mask after doing just a bit of research on masks and spore sizes and simply dealt with the disapproval--politely, mostly.

The worst argument I had was with a rude and stupid manager at an auto parts store, who wasn't even wearing his face diaper pulled up. I got him in trouble with his district manager and haven't been back. But UPS has dropped off a package for me at that location, and I have to go in today. Maybe he'll have been fired or quit in the last 2 years, or won't remember me.

371 18 hour layover? That's enough time to have a baby, write a novel and take a good nap.

372 An 18 hour layover sounds brutal. I would be tempted to grab a cab and go into Manila.

Dealing with luggage for a short-term visit would suck.

376 I have to say RFK is correct about Amazon. But if he was so worried about the US economy why have I not heard from him until now?

377 I think PDT got snookered, cajoled, extorted and scammed in the Covid faux pandemic. As well as in his picks for gov posts. The swamp is deep and very stinky.
