Top Story

I noted last week that the RTX 4070 was overpriced in Australia, needing to be under $1000 if it were to have any chance of success.

Today - just days after the launch - some cards have already been reduced to $999.

Still fat and ugly - the nicer two-slot models have not seen price cuts - but at least slightly less horribly expensive.
The Gigabyte Aero 16 is also overpriced in Australia.

Just saying.

If you just updated your development server from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 and all your LXC containers lost their IP addresses, it's probably a firewall thing. (Linux Containers)

And what's more, an easily fixed firewall thing. Basically LXC can't talk to itself to obtain its own IP addresses. Dumb but fixable.

Off with the old and on with the new. Big red dumpster in the drive way. See, neighbors, I do some things to keep this house in reasonable shape. A coffee house on Central Avenue in Albuquerque had chicory coffee, and green chile bagels, back in '94 when I last visited.

People here yap about "the food," as if this is the only place in America to get good chow. Well, part of the experience to go out to eat is the look of the place, the atmosphere, and the way you're treated. Miss Linda and I went to a small independent pizza place on Saturday evening. Decent prices, but the place looked dreary and dingy, our "waiter" was a fat fluty-voiced gay man, and as she put it, "I don't know what they put in my shrimp Alfredo, but it wasn't shrimp."

When I think of the colorful and clean places with god food I ate in during the Denver time and my ABQ visits, I could weep.

We had a rare evening out as well. And had a stark reminder that we're living in Biden's America now.

We were low on gas and nowhere near the city. Places that had been leaving the pumps active and able to be used with a credit card after hours are no longer doing it. We stopped at four different gas stations, one of which I know for a fact was doing it at Christmas and before because we stop by there to fill up before they open on all of our trips.

Those days are gone. I assume because people are using stolen cards to steal gas, and it's not worth the hassle to review video footage.

I'd make a comment about the slow decline of America, but I don't think it's accurate. I think the slow part is behind us.

I am talking about no ethernet port on the gateway to connect it to your own router, when the built in WiFi is weak.
Also, you necessarily have to route the cable through and in walls, but the plugs are fucking enormous, but the socket is miniUSB.
