Beaver Retriever Cafe

That's a big pumpkin. #HAES

Industrial robot retires after five minutes' work.

FancyDog wipes his mouth after drinking.

Playing barrel-soccer with a bull.

He leveled up in jeans-folding.

Parrot is very possessive of his miniature bicycle.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Little boy is a piano prodigy.

If you throw a soccer ball at a goat's head, will he headbutt it? You betcha!

When your boss is looking over your shoulder all day long.

Trick coins with mechanical features. I like the one with Arthur and the Grail.

Wait, did you say "Snausages"?

Dolphin executes the fabled Triple Lindy.

That's right, that's right, we bad, we bad...

Good guy with a gun.

This guy's high school aptitude tests told him he was best suited for a career in jerking the chains of giant cobras and boy did they nail it!

Oh look, they're already filming Avengers 5.

The puppy doesn't understand the point of the game, but he sure wants to be involved!

46 Oh man, I just realized that I accidentally fed the beast. I bought a box of Fantasy Flight's Star Wars miniatures to see how they stack up to some of the other stuff in the biz, and after seeing the list of corporate logos on the bottom of the box it occurs to me that Woke Disney must have gotten a little bit of licensing money. Ooooops. On the plus side, I'm not really all that interested in getting into the game--FFG and its parent company did a bang up job of neutering their relevance in a series of mundane management epic fails--so I guess I'll just automatically return to the default state of not actually having a reason to care about Disney or its products.

106 On the robot thing -

I remember an old SF story where humanoid robots were malfunctioning because they had all these extra parts that they never used in their job and the lack of use was gumming it up.

There's no reason you need to badly mimic a human if you have a robot shelf to conveyor and back system something fit for the job and the robot would be far better. Look at car assembly robots - they don't look like people and walk around.

163 Male and female Alaskan, Canadian, and Siberian beavers produce castoreum, a substance secreted from pouchlike sacs located near the base of their tails (castor is the word for beaver in Latin). Beavers can’t see or hear very well, but they have a great sense of smell—and as a result of their castoreum glands, they also smell great. They use their castoreum in part to mark their territory, secreting it on top of mounds of dirt they construct on the edges of their home turf. (The castoreum squirting out is apparently so loud, you can hear it if you’re standing nearby.)

Beavers also use the fatty, waxy secretion to waterproof their fur. Fur trappers would use it to draw beavers into their traps.

Yeah. Ancient stuff. By 350BC they'd forgotten what it meant. But a consul bit the head off one once to save his army. They thought the talons meant it was a Bird of Prey but that was after they forgot why it was there. One of Veregna's incarnations was a bird of prey and Veregna = mars (kinda).

I think it fed Romulus and Remus along with the wolf (another Veregna incarnation).

The pecking motion is a lot like the Roman style of fighting.

Inclusivity is more important than competition, and if you disagree with men in women's sports, it is just an extension of your hatred of women.

Story goes one landed on him or in his hand before major battle. Romans being neurotic about auguries, he was told that if he let it go, he would thrive but his army would be destroyed. If he killed it, he would be destroyed but his army would triumph. He bit it's head off. Not clear why he chose that method.

Allegedly, his army won and he was destroyed later.

207 The woodpecker thing is really archaic. And Romans were famous for forgetting why things were there. And then creating new reasons.

But, it seems that by biting its head off the consul showed devotion to augury and the gods. And his army of course.

I just read that the Romans never ate woodpeckers. Despite being very fond of small birds as food.

210 Hmmmm. Picus also led the young men to their new colonies as part of the ver sacrum.

And was the son of Mars who because of his augury skills was turned into a woodpecker. The bird he most favored for augury.

212 The kid was a racist leftoid if the social media out thus far is to be believed, and he highlights a genuine HR problem for Intelligence Agency Inc.

The Intel world like a lot of businesses is all about relationships and employee reliability. Now in the old days you did not get hired in unless you impressed an operative as a wild talent *or* you came from a good family or the right schools. America provided a good pool of possible recruits who were all steeped in a civic education that stressed the machine was at least striving to be good and just and was worthy of loyalty. There were traitors and retards aplenty but they were predictable and their embrace of the contra American narrative was easy to suss out.

Enter the post-modern fuck America academic environment with a bizarre combination of DOOM! nihilism with an odd Barney the Dinosaur narration hammering into the kids they are all the ultimatest and most specialest ever but ALSO that the white kids and particularly heterosexual white males are inherently evil and not simply evil but must be denounced by themselves or else evil.

All of the old metrics and understandings of operative psychology are gone.

I had a good part of the kid's number in the ONT last night, I thought he would be Army (he worked at Bragg/Pope but I digress) and I also thought he would be a TS holder not in a SCIF.

I got that wrong, but the SCIF thing is worse.

His leaks were 90% available as open source intel, he revealed very little that was not able to be sussed out by deductive, inductive and abductive analysis of the news cycles. The actual real problem is that he also leaked the forms and nomenclature of the offices he had access to through the SCIF.

What is evident with Snowden, Manning, Winner, and now Archaeaptorex or whatever the fuck his name is is a decidedly maniacal ego coupled with moral certainty that does not really belong in the intelligence world.

I'd prescribe psych evals on all candidates, but I would bet they would only be able to keep 40% of the applicants.
