How many EV are basically disposable cars? The new freaking Tesla uses the Battery case as a structural element. You are going to have to either throw away the car in 7-10 years, or spend $10,000- $20,000- $30,000 dollars just to replace the batteries.
How many people can plunk down $10,000 dollars to replace the battery on a car they may not even have paid off? How many will want to?
I predict there will be a huge insurance fraud problem, when people's EV approach battery replacement time, and they are "Stolen", "Totaled," or suffer a convenient catastrophic electric battery fire.

1. All marginal demand in electrical use is met with marginal increase in coal/gas. Your EV is 100% hydrocarbon powered, even if the grid is 30% renewable (this will be true until all peak and marginal load is met with wind/solar. ie, never)
2. The price of charge "will necessarily skyrocket" once the subsidies and loss leader pricing goes away, and once more of grid is expensive renewable. Expect $20/gallon equivalent for Charge Station charging.
It is all a scam, and they are desperate to push it through before people realize.

In the Army, the tightest security was run on the guys doing nuclear tech ops, crypto, and working in the SSO. I was a SSO for a year, and access to a lot of stuff...sure. But not really wide ranging. I don't know. Maybe its different now.

This will never work on the road. It does not cool and it only excluded O2 because it is a controlled space. Any gap, like under the car, or through the car, and O2 will continue to get to the fire - either from air, water, CO2, etc.
They say that they have to cool these cars for hours or days or they just restart burning.

When Richard Hammond wrecked that F1 car it burned for more than a week. Once one bank of cells was nearly burned out, another would light up.
After that and Scandi Flick I think its best the boys give up this driving gig.

They already know that repairing these cars is impossibly expensive and that they have no resale value so no average person is going to be able to afford them. I have never owned a brand new car. Never saw the need. I bet there are a lot of people like me.

I think I read that sales dropped off like 40% this year as well. Once all the fleets have them bought, its up to individual suckers and with the subsidies going away, its really hard to justify 50-60k on a sedan you can only drive a few hours a day.

Yeah it's exactly this. As the batter gets older, it gets less efficient, taking longer to charge and providing less range. It would be like a car starts out at 30 MPG and then at 100K miles it's down to 20 MPG.

Something went really wrong, I find it very unlikely that he failed to see that he was past the finish line and forgot to brake. Maybe part of the deal with BBC, they don't mention what went wrong and the auto company doesn't charge them the full price for the destroyed car.

Which is not an unacceptable or unexpected result, although you can tune a worn car up and get close to the original MPG again, and it doesn't slow down how long it takes to refuel the gasser.

I knew an E5 crypto tech assigned to a base ~90 miles south of Florida. He said it was the best duty he ever had. He and his fellow tech were the only ones allowed into the space, even the CO wasn't allowed. Anytime something he didn't want to do was 'suggested', there was pressing business in the crypto compartment that needed attention. They'd found a cot and installed it behind some equipment racks where it couldn't be seen from the passageway if someone got a glance through the hatch.

"Luck" is very often a function of preparation. The hardest-working person is more likely to encounter situations where he has the skills and opportunity to take advantage of something. The lazy dude, not so much.
It's one of the reasons that mid-level of almost every organization becomes infested with midwits: they have the brainpower to figure out how the system generally works, and to "fake it" for a long time, even if they aren't fully competent, but they aren't so smart that they don't need to work hard, so they end up with just enough ambition and just enough brains to get ahead.

You won't find a Prius in a barn 20 years from now. It's the sort of car that people use until it is used up. They are a hybrid, not a pure electric. Major difference in design.

Those collecting intelligence are not operating or maintaining crypto. Other folks do that. Low ranking military and civilian contractors who don't have access to the intel. They just see whether data is flowing or not and if the crypto is operating properly (lots and lots of troubleshooting goes on). You do not see what is on the data.

Even if you do, its a small square battery in the trunk on a prius, attached by a cable. A lot more able to be replaced or aftermarket supported than one built into the frame of your car and placed directly where the driver and passengers are.
