THE PRESIDENT: What's your question?Biden is such a Sure Hand at the Tiller of State -- just like Never Trump promised us-- that an ally, the PM of Northern Ireland, had to specifically warn him not to engage in his usual casual ethnic slurs that supposedly make him "folksy" by stirring up conflict in the strife-plagued province. You have to tell Joe Biden specifically not to begin attacking Protestants and loyalist inhabitants of Northern Ireland or else he might just start a war to sound "folksy." President Joe Biden needs to be on best behavior during his visit to Northern Ireland and avoid making any anti-British gaffes that could further derail the region's deadlocked political system, according to one of the province's MPs. Claire Hanna, who represents South Belfast for the nationalist Social Democratic and Labour Party, said unionists were ready to seize on any clumsy jokes or asides for political gain. But Biden has a habit of peppering remarks about his Irish links with memories of his mother's anti-English sentiment and dubious jokes about the Protestant community.Thanks, NeverTrump! America is back, baby! By the way, Biden's Society of Geniuses is up to their usual standards of unimpeachable excellence. The key to success is whenever you disagree with someone, it's okay to question their judgment -- whether they're right or wrong -- but it's never okay to question their motive. If you question their motive, then you never get to be able to agree.

The creators are going to stuff the show, to the gills, with all the progressive propaganda, including trans shit. It's what they do. It's their nature. It's a show for kids, with kids in it. Several of the kids in it will also, years later, confess that they were molested on set, and some of those will end up on drugs, mentally unstable, and even suicide. How could it ever be otherwise? You are going to have to either throw away the car in 7-10 years, or spend $10,000- $20,000- $30,000 dollars just to replace the batteries. How many people can plunk down $10,000 dollars to replace the battery on a car they may not even have paid off? How many will want to? I predict there will be a huge insurance fraud problem, when people's EV approach battery replacement time, and they are "Stolen", "Totaled," or suffer a convenient catastrophic electric battery fire. How many people can plunk down $10,000 dollars to replace the battery on a car they may not even have paid off? How many will want to?
Lets put it this way: if you find a Prius in a barn 20 years from now, its going to rot away because there won't be parts for the electronics, its going to cost you more than the car can possibly be worth to fix up, and those batteries won't even be made any longer. Two refutations of EV that need more attention;
1. All marginal demand in electrical use is met with marginal increase in coal/gas. Your EV is 100% hydrocarbon powered, even if the grid is 30% renewable (this will be true until all peak and marginal load is met with wind/solar. ie, never) 2. The price of charge "will necessarily skyrocket" once the subsidies and loss leader pricing goes away, and once more of grid is expensive renewable. Expect $20/gallon equivalent for Charge Station charging. It is all a scam, and they are desperate to push it through before people realize. So.
How does having an EV effect your Homeowner's Insurance Rates? Certainly they are accounting for you parking a timebomb in your garage by now, no? Posted by: garrett at April 13, 2023 07:33 PM (SIRiz) 276
I'd wager individual EV purchases are no more than 15% of annual EV sales.
I think I read that sales dropped off like 40% this year as well. Once all the fleets have them bought, its up to individual suckers and with the subsidies going away, its really hard to justify 50-60k on a sedan you can only drive a few hours a day. They'll probably hold up to 100,000 miles, but just like old cell phones they won't be able to hold their charge very well.
Posted by: Dr. Pork Chops & Bacons at April 13, 2023 07:33 PM (BdMk6) ___ Yeah it's exactly this. As the batter gets older, it gets less efficient, taking longer to charge and providing less range. It would be like a car starts out at 30 MPG and then at 100K miles it's down to 20 MPG. Posted by: Montec at April 13, 2023 07:35 PM (OalnH) 278

I think the electric car Hammond crashed had a control system failure which was the reason the wreck happened and it was hushed up.
Something went really wrong, I find it very unlikely that he failed to see that he was past the finish line and forgot to brake. Maybe part of the deal with BBC, they don't mention what went wrong and the auto company doesn't charge them the full price for the destroyed car. "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On!' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."
How many weeks did it take to squeeze that much out of Silent Cal? It would be like a car starts out at 30 MPG and then at 100K miles it's down to 20 MPG. Which is not an unacceptable or unexpected result, although you can tune a worn car up and get close to the original MPG again, and it doesn't slow down how long it takes to refuel the gasser. Staffed by E3-O4. Rarely saw anyone above field grade in one. And I've been in a few crypto rooms. Posted by: Dr. Pork Chops & Bacons at April 13, 2023 07:09 PM I knew an E5 crypto tech assigned to a base ~90 miles south of Florida. He said it was the best duty he ever had. He and his fellow tech were the only ones allowed into the space, even the CO wasn't allowed. Anytime something he didn't want to do was 'suggested', there was pressing business in the crypto compartment that needed attention. They'd found a cot and installed it behind some equipment racks where it couldn't be seen from the passageway if someone got a glance through the hatch. I used to see Priuses on the street fairly often around here, but they aren't technically EVs. I don't know if I've seen more than five EVs ever. And you can usually tell, they deliberately design them to look special so you can show off your smug.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at April 13, 2023 07:41 PM (0hOvj) "Luck" is very often a function of preparation. The hardest-working person is more likely to encounter situations where he has the skills and opportunity to take advantage of something. The lazy dude, not so much. It's one of the reasons that mid-level of almost every organization becomes infested with midwits: they have the brainpower to figure out how the system generally works, and to "fake it" for a long time, even if they aren't fully competent, but they aren't so smart that they don't need to work hard, so they end up with just enough ambition and just enough brains to get ahead. Lets put it this way: if you find a Prius in a barn 20 years from now, its going to rot away because there won't be parts for the electronics, its going to cost you more than the car can possibly be worth to fix up, and those batteries won't even be made any longer.
