Tiger mom.

Kissing dogs like you're the Dalai Lama at a Boy Scout Jamboree.

Sexy kitty.

Business casual.

I think this dog stole its master's phone and wants to play Keep Away with it.

Will you be my friend?

This cat doesn't waste time.

I've linked this before but this little otter-helper is just too cute.

Gladiators.

Pool time!

Cowabunga cats.

I worried that that was CGI but it looks real. She's got other videos like that.

9 Originating more than 3000 years ago, the Mayan ballgame was even described in the history of the civilization's historical book Popol Vuh, depicting and enacting a struggle between the forces of light and darkness.

Archaeologists announced the discovery of a stone scoreboard from an ancient ball game resembling soccer at the renowned Mayan Chichen Itza archaeological site in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, as reported by Reuters.

According to a statement from Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the circular object has hieroglyphic text encircling two players who are standing close to a ball and is just over 32 centimeters (12.6 inches) in diameter and weighs 40 kilos (88 lb).

"In this Mayan site, it is rare to find hieroglyphic writing, let alone a complete text," said Francisco Perez, one of the archaeologists coordinating the investigations in the Chichanchob complex, also called Casa Colorada.

Researchers believed that the scoreboard stone was created between 800 and 900 AD.

35 Willowed again, sigh...

TN GOP accomplished the mission. A meaningless gesture, followed by a Dem media circus, and a return to square one in the legislature.

Meanwhile the fog of controversy was used as cover for Gov. Lee to order the major Democrat policy goal into law. The one the controversy started about in the first place.

The Dems get their gun control measure without the GOP having to vote on anything, and a few good "Racist Republicans" news cycles for good measure... Ds-2, Rs-0, game point.

The rubes say "muh gee oh pee fightz fer me but muh demz iz bad herp a durr we gotz to voat harrrrdurrrr," and the band plays on.

This sort of cheesy play works on the (R) base every damn time. How embarrassing.

Those on the east may be able to see Mercury again tonight. Wait about 30 minutes after sundown. Venus will make a nice marker to the West. Follow the ecliptic arc down from Venus to the horizon. When the sun gets far enough below the horizon, you may be able to see it, if you can see low enough to the horizon.

When I saw it last night, it was about 8 degrees above the horizon, and just a couple of degrees about the tree line to the west.

Venus is "super bright", brilliant now, but it wasn't due south. However, you need to know what time, and what direction exactly, or close to it.

Get Stellarium (or similiar) and it will display your local sky for you. Run in forwards or backwards in time.

I used it mostly for opportunity tracking, customer tracking and teaming analysis. I found it to be a good platform for that. But that is as much about what you learn to use. As I said to Meta Boy when he was contemplating college - 'know what a plumber charges to come out to your house a 7:00 pm on a Sunday?' 'anything he wants.'

200 in Gobeleke tepe, the main pillar shows a vulture raising a ball above what looks like some other bird. It is proposed that this is a creation myth involving Sirius per astroarcheology and the orientation of the temples at Gobleke Tepe.

In Australia and Melanesia, the bit of the milky way behind Sirius is a dark area that is identified in mythology as an Emu and has great significance. In some cultures in southern South America the same area is considered to be a Rhea.

I wonder if it is related, or if it is just similar.

Probably not out of line but I've done two of own locally, where you at, what materials (copper, PEX) and what else (water heater type, any new construction)

I taught the FNG at the local store how to thread black pipe 20 years ago and when they lamentably closed later he was assistant manager.

Hot water heater died. Had to fork over 6k. And the only reason I got that deal was because brother in law is a plumber. Quotes I hot were between 8k and 10k. My original plan was just to wait until fall to replace it; figured summer is almost here and hot water would not be overly missed. The missus informed me that my plan was, uh, suboptimal. She may have used a different word to describe the plan.

243 Relaxing now with a cold Shiner Bock. Finished the exterior woodwork on the south gable end of the house today, and even hung another coat of white paint on the south fascia board. Looking sharp, now. While the ladder was out, I went along the eave on the West side of the house, and tightened and/or replaced loose screws and nails holding metal trim to the fascia board, and metal soffits under the eaves. It was getting real loose, and in danger of being blown off in a bad windstorm. All snug now on that side. Still some loose on the east side, but that is easy to reach and fix.

There are some remains and some native groups in South America with Australasian genes (it is complicated) Lagoa Santo is one of the sites.
The current theory is that it is merely genes that came in through Beringia and never left signs anywhere in its travel.
On the other hand, he Southern Glacial Maximums have not been well studied, but there are claims that the Drake Passage may have been iced over, blocking the massive storms that live there now, and there are claims of possible island chains across the Pacific that would have been exposed at glacial maximums.
