I dunno, I've been to black churches. Yes, the service usually includes more singing and dancing -- including liturgical dancing -- than is usual in a white church. But the dancing I've seen is much better and more coordinated than what's in that video. Its about what is most God-honoring, worshipful, and God-focused. Not what we like or we want or we find fun or we prefer, but what God prefers. Now, we have a lot of freedom in this; there is no one Perfect Way. But there is a lot more wrong and we should avoid it no matter what culture it came from.
Like: greeting each other and shaking hands and such. Who are you there for? Not the guy next to you or behind you in the pew. You're there for God.

Yes. During the lockdown, my husband tuned into services in NYC's Central Synagogue. The cantors were amazing, but they precluded participation of the congregation. And perhaps that was the point. You can sit there, or stand there, and be entertained. My husband, however, found it embarrassing and flashy and the opposite of a community coming together to pray. At least these Easter dancers did not seem to minimize participation.

One of the things they discussed was complaints from parishoners that homilies are boring, music isn't good, they don't get anything out of going to Mass. There are Calvinist sects that became extremely passive under the rather logical argument that is all things are pre-determined by God and people cannot choose their actions(active conversion also doesn't make a whole lot of sense with an elect), why would you be trying to actively change anything?
Calvinists tended to get a reputation for virtue signalling because of the circular logic behind the elect's actions demonstrating that they were part of the elect. Non-approved actions meant community exclusion because it showed a person was not part of the elect. It's a broken version of the repentance and reintegration model.
Did every Calvinist group go down either of these two paths(not mutually exclusive or inclusive)? No, but those groups that went down these routes were Calvinist in origin and identity.

Reminds me of a friend I had years ago in New York state. He had converted to Buddhism in his twenties and apparently belong to a sect that was far more hardcore than I had ever heard of. We had dinner one night with some friends of his who were Buddhists, mostly non-Americans, and to a man they were all ragging on the dalai lama for not staying and fighting. The most common comment was along the lines of "he's a p****."

Strictly for Catholics and some other denominations we're not at a Mass for the prayer session but the Eucharist. Everything about the liturgy is supportive of the central piece, communion with God. A Bible reading or homily in that sense is no more or less extraneous than greeting our fellows.

That seems to be a misunderstanding of free will (which also seems to be common in modern arguments).
Free will is the ability to make choices. Like choosing to put ketchup or mustard on a hot dog is free will. Being born in India or England has nothing to do with free will. The ability to make choices also makes us culpable for our choices, which pertains to justice.
Divine foreknowledge seems to present issues for this, but otherwise human language and society pretty much always assumes free will exists.
Calvinism inspired determinism, which was adopted by materialist thinkers.

The Calvinist theory is that it should be understood as God only genuinely offering salvation to a subset, which are saved regardless of their desire to be saved.
If we are to take the free will metaphor of God being a man on a boat tossing ropes to drowning men and pulling them in, in the Calvinist model God saw fit to give some men no arms though he throws them a rope, so that they may drown and shanghais the rest.

So there was a big change to protestanize the mass after Vat II. Many people think that it tended to turn the Mass into something we do together, instead of the Priest offering the sacrifice - he does it, we assist. He doesn't really need us there for it. they used to face away from us and towards the Crucifix/tabernacle. And a lot of the prayers were silent. The people didn't say anything. I'd grant the complainers the point that the music isn't good. In the "spirit of Vatican II" the traditional hymns were jettisoned in favor of insipid songs. I'm in a fight with our Parish's music director in trying to get more traditional hymns restored.
As far as "not getting anything out of Mass," that's decades of bad catechisis and improper treatment of the Eucharist talking. What you "get" is an opportunity to commune directly with Jesus Christ since he is present in the consecrated Host. He tells us that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood to get eternal life.
