This lunatic's lunatic son was peaceably arrested -- she turned him in to the police -- after he threatened to shoot up a school.

From the Pensacola Journal:

An incident report released Thursday afternoon by the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office allege that the 13-year-old made repeated threats to shoot up Holley Navarre Middle School and to stab students who angered him.
Investigators interviewed multiple students who spoke with the teenager, as well as those who saw messages he posted on social media. In the messages to his friends, the teenager made the following statements, among others:
"I want to shoot up the school."
If I get a gun I'm gonna shoot up hnms lol."
"I'm getting a wrath and natural selection shirt so maybe but I don't think many ppl know what the columbine shooters look like."
"Okay so it's been like 3-4 weeks since I got on my new antidepressants and they aren't working but they're suppose to by now so I have no hope in getting better so why not kill the losers at school."
The teenager told one of his friends that he planned to shoot up the school the Thursday before Spring Break but there were too many things going on so he postponed it until March 31.

65 Anti-depressants can do the opposite of "help". Getting teenagers on the right drug and right dose that actually helps them instead of makes them worse is difficult.

One of my kids who desperately needed something had a really good pediatric psych nurse but it still took to the fourth try to get the dose and drug that helped. The other ones either didn't, or they seemed to help as the dosage was slowly increased until suddenly they just... blew up worse than before.

I'm not against medications. When we got the right one it was great. But anti-depressants can easily easily make things much worse.

Some of this stuff is actually not bad - like the guy who has started keeping a mental map of exits and egress. That kind of situational awareness is good in general. Keep your head on a swivel when in an unfamiliar environment with strangers and maintain good situational awareness otherwise.

That's the only sensible thing I see in my reading of your selections on this topic. The rest is insane. Even that is seen as, "it's bad that I have to do this," which I don't get. Good, basic situational awareness is a solid and easy way to improve your survivability. Not just from rare events like a shooting, but also things like power outages, fires, a girder falling, etc.

It is hot with the left to claim PTSD without even understanding what it is or what sort of shocking trauma can result in it. How bad things have to get before you reach that point of damage, and how hard it is to heal from.

They think "I feel anxious" is the same as the soul-destroying horror that PTSD comes from. They believe that their life is supposed to be constantly filled with fun, comfort, and happiness, and any derivation from that is psychologically terrible that requires drugs and something incredibly dire.

I am uncomfortable in cities, I do not like it, even small ones like Salem. I want out, I feel like an alien trapped with hostile people. That has nothing to do with PTSD, its just discomfort.

I think there's some not unreasonable thinking behind some of it. The big thing is assuming people share your opinion, which is common enough that I can't get worked up about it. The other is the polling showing that Trump has less than majority support in the primary.

That polling is suspect in general, but also because his only real competition in those polls is someone who hasn't even announced a run yet (DeSantis).

300 I am reminded of an incident in Denver a couple of decades ago. A family with mentally disabled older teen son called 911 dozens of times when they felt he was unmanageable. Eventually they hit the jackpot, reporting the son was threatening them with a knife and got an officer unfamiliar with them who didn't just talk to him and calm him down but treated it as a deadly threat and killed the son. Of course FNM painted it as trigger happy cop, the poor family etc. It is solely MY uncharitable opinion that they wanted their burden shot by cops and a $$$ payout instead of caring for him for life.

Given the egregious behavior of her son, she's pissed that the city has failed to offer her a multi-million dollar settlement.

330 Methinks all this school shooting shit started when Public Schools were required to mainstream the mentally ill cuz mental institutions are expensive. We used to segregate the crazies from the normies.

There is a sequence of events I believe that led to the normalization of school shootings:

1. Putting the crazy kids into the same classes as the normal kids started happening in the 80s. Cuz they aren't crazy they are eclectic and creative.

2. Video games replacing 90 percent of outdoor activity for kids. In case you haven't noticed, a lot of these games are extremely violent even toward innocent characters (Grand Theft Auto, Going Postal). when they ban the games it makes them more popular with some groups, like sneaking smokes and booze.

3. Social media. These kids are exposed to some of the fakest people to ever walk the earth. Some kids are convinced that everyone owns a Ferrari and travels the world except them. A lot of attention whores on social media are trying to be the saddest most aggrieved people on the planet like it is a competition.
