I had read a long time ago that cats have very, VERY good eyesight for hunting, and can focus almost hawk-like on their prey at moderate distances. The middle of their vision is extremely sharp, and the edges is blurry.

But the trade off is that they have very poor up-close vision, and there's a hypothesis that it's why they have and use whiskers like they do.

The knocking-off might be cats not knowing what things are and not being able to see them very well, and checking to see if they are toys, food, etc.

Did you know federal law (18 USC 1) requires you to report your knowledge of any felony committed by anyone to Federal agents? Failure to do so makes you an indictable co-conspirator with that person. The FBI needs to be swamped with people reporting Biden family felonies, since everyone who has looked at Hunter's laptop has knowledge of those felonies. Anonymously write a letter to the FBI complaining about those specific felonies: lying on a 4473 etc. Keep a copy of your letter. Two of the cats will lick it out of the bowl if I leave it on the table, the other two must be smeared to get it in them.

Yeah, it's the three felonies a day issue all over again.

Everyone commits multiple serious crimes every single day. It's useful for when they need to arrest you. It's at their convenience, though, and depends on voter registration, political activity, skin color, etc.

But those three felonies every day are still sitting there if they need them.

I usually let my two daughters go in and visit the kitties, change the water, food, litter, love them, etc. Three of us in that room would spook them. Tonight I went in with my elder daughter while the other was asleep. Initially the only cat that greeted us was Biscuits, the black expectant mother. She was quite happy with me and very affectionate. Biscuits is a rather small cat and I hope her delivery will be smooth.
After a while out came this enormous black boy, Salem. Gorgeous. He didn't stay long out as he was unsure of my presence. I'll get daughter to post more pictures when she wakes up.

Imagine how drab life would be. Maggy (Yellow Dog Two) is a black mouth cur. Outside the wire she is a meek dog that is afraid of people. When she is in her house or yard she would literally tear apart any stranger if they came into her domain. There is a switch in her head that turns on when we are at home and turns off when we take her out of the house for walks and vet visits.

But not all members of canidae can interbreed. Foxes and tanuki and others that don't have 78 chromosomes can't interbreed with the big dog/wolf group that do.

If you mean me (Missouri) I believe it's because they kinda hope for it... being wildlife biologists and all. But if the public knew they were encouraging it, or especially making it happen, there would be hell to pay. Dunno.

197 My Pop was born in Cass County Mo, (just south of Jackson Co, of Independence and KC fame). He told of a wolf drive that happened in 1935 that killed the last of the Timber wolves in Missouri. Can't prove nor disprove that story, but it's what I grew up believing.
Also, he didn't see a whitetail deer until he went to Wyoming in the 30's to work.
So, at least in his little world, 90 years ago there were no deer, no bear, but there were still wolves in his neck of Missouri.

Had ... don't miss her ass, but had ... a mother in law that would rather suck a dick that have a gun in the house. And, as my father in law would attest - she was sucking no dick.

But she absolutely loved the two Dobermans that ran through that house, at all hours, like two solutions looking for problems.

I never doubted, for a second, that she would shoot one of those dogs after somebody - no different than I'd fire a bullet.

Except, in her head, it wasn't a bullet. Just one of her "babies".

If you want to mangle a man ... do it yourself. Don't send a dog.

Yep. Wolves keep trying to make themselves extinct because the know what's best for their offspring (mainly surviving), and humans, in our infinite selfish static environmental wisdom - insist on stopping them because we know what's best for them. Which is to go extinct without reproducing in sufficient numbers to continue their genetic line.

Yay Smart People!

When I got my first software engineering job at Computer Sciences Corporation out-of-college in the mid-80's, the Norton Utilities for DOS and Windows 3.1 was all the rage -- especially helpful for recovering accidentally deleted files.

Whenever any of us would mention "Norton" we'd say it like Ralph Kramden did -- cracked me up every time.

271 The Russian Blue would paw stuff off of shelves. He also insisted on climbing the Christmas Tree.
He would jump up, sit, examine, and then deliberately shove objects off of shelves. Yes, some cats do it.
Then, he would examine his work and actually sigh.
Russians. Did not cure his existential ennui.

272 The Russian Blue's littermate, a furry White and Black skinny little female (cats can mix like you would not believe), loved snow. Put her outside and she'd burrow into a snowdrift and you'd have to go dig her out, she'd just vanish. She dug like a mole.
They were inseparable, I may have told this story a year or so ago, The Russian Blue died instantly from some aneurysm.
Click! Lights out.
His sister couldn't live without him and pined away, skin and bones within 3 months. We had to put her down so she could be with her brother.

274 AnOb, what makes you think those letters don't go straight in the shredder?

1. Even if they do they are still work for the lazy clowns.
2. If you have ever worked in the government you would know that the one thing that one thing gov employees do is cover their own asses by dotting i's and crossing t's. Failure to follow established procedure gets you burned, and shitcanning official notice of crime is one of the things that would get an agent in trouble.
